What went wrong?

What went wrong?

An economy completely reliant on the price of oil.

Command economics is incapable of adequately dealing with the amount of information processing and economic incentivization necessary to run a modern economy.

Muslims.

Patria

Aaaand thread over, folks.

This. Their so-called socialism isn't the culprit.

Being socialist certainly didn't help. But it wasn't the big scary bogeyman that destroyed Venezuela like people make it out to be.

socialism lite since 1975
venezuelans got used to nanny state and oil profits squandering. Chavez just speeded up the decline and Maduro consolidated it.

Maduro's mustache wasn't as Stalin enough, he would have conquered South America right now

Not so fast
Why have other oil-reliant countries not collapsed as well?
Not even shitty meme country Russia has collapsed and its being sanctioned by the West

Pretty sure Venezuela wasn't part of OPEC, so they were driven out of business by the cartel. Russia's economy is hurting, but they have a lot of resources, not just oil.

>Venezuela wasn't part of OPEC
What am I reading? Venezuela played a huge part in OPEC, it was one of Chavez's main concerns, and helped created the oil boom we previously had.

This is a history board, not /pol/

So why are we having this thread? This is pretty much a current even right now, but then again if we have this thread on /pol/ they will just blame the "communist Jews" and praise Pinochet

***This is a current event where talking about right now

no this is reality

they believed in the "it's not fascism when we do it" meme

My bad. Why did oil fuck you over then? It works for Arabs

why communism fails is an important topic in humanities

No this is Patrick

or

Arabia is losing money big time actually.

>not /pol/
you should check how venezuelan gdp per capita started to flunk compared to 1950's gdp back in 1975 thanks to Rafael Caldera and Carlos Andres Perez's social democratic policies.

Not /pol/ at all.

Venezuela was one of the original OPEC founders

>you will never cut zhe balls

>Arabia is losing money big time actually.
Not what OP is talking about
If Saudi Arabia was losing money and its citizens were unable to afford food AND was undergoing a political crisis than your point would be valid
Venezuelans problems are entirely their own creation sure they would not be as rich because the Saudis are trying to flood the market but they shouldnt be starving and their country shouldnt be this politically unstable

they didnt start with the greeks
