So I have been Wondering for a while. .. how many miles is okay on a used bike, if i were to buy it.. i am aware that a load of factors play in, how it was written etc... generally you can say a car with less than 40.000 km is sort of New, unless it is a Ferrari or alike.. im just wondering if there are any rules of thumb ( sorry for the english )
Julian Ward
Honda is already great though user, its just their dirt bikes that are shitty and they won't fix that until they get some better riders or the riders KTM have atm break their spines again.
Jayden Gutierrez
...
Hunter Wood
i wouldnt buy a used bike with more than 30,000km but that is me.
John Adams
Mine still runs great, only get them if the maintenance has always been performed properly and on time.
Gabriel Brown
Under 30k is fine, over 50k the engine should be considered, over 80k is very risky.
Jace Green
I was just wondering since my first bike will likely be a 2014/15 Yamaha Mt07, limited for the first 2 years to 35kw.. i find models that have done from 3500km to 12500 km... thanks alot (soon to be brother -ish)
Hunter Hall
>3500km to 12500 Only just broken in m8, they will be fine.
Christopher Cruz
wait they can limit a bike with 38kw to 35kw?
Austin Fisher
Awsome! It is nice to be able to save around 20-25% on a bike, just because it is 1 or 2 years old and hasent been used alot, make me Wonder Who buy New bikes... but I guess people want that premium feel Ingen, Even though your first ride will be quilte expensive .
Samuel Johnson
Has /dbt/ ever gone full hektik? Meaning no plate red light running lane splitting (amerifags) full on WOT just couldn't deal mode? Of course safety is number 1 priority, but I want to hear some hooning stories.
Gabriel Lewis
The MT07 has 55kw normally, if you Arent 24 in my country you need to limit it too 35kw for 2 years before you can ride it with full power.. (law in my country)
Isaiah Barnes
>Even though your first ride will be quilte expensive .
Never wanted to feel the joy of turning a key and knowing you just spend several thousands of euros?
Adrian Butler
>law in my country And half of the continent
Connor Gutierrez
That's also the case when you buy a used bike.
Charles Powell
I suppose.. It is nice to own something that has been made just for you (well not just for you, but you are the only user).
Cameron Scott
right, proper mt-07 not the nutted one they sell here. that mt-07 is 655cc instead of 689cc, guessing they just restrict the bikes there because you guys arent allowed up to 40kw for unknown reasons that cut out most 400cc bikes from the learner market..
Mason Long
I bought my bike for €3500, can sell it for €4000+
Yes, I've spend quite an substantial amount, but I can get it back.
Christian Nelson
Ah, it makes sense i guess?
Carson Johnson
Where are you from that you didn't know the EU uses those license rules
Logan Harris
Ah, so when you said 'spent' you actually meant 'wasted'.
Tyler Johnson
IF THE WEATHER KEEPS UP I MIGHT BE ABLE TO GET MY DEGREE BEFORE SEM
Joseph Carter
Denmark, ive had my B license for a year, just never thought of the license rules as universal in the EU
Jayden Reed
Yes
I would get a boner from doing that, if I had the money for it.
Nathan Morales
i spent $1000 on one of my bikes this week, spent about the same on it last month, over the years i have had it id estimate i have put a good 7 grand into it, bought it new for 13, might get 3.5k if i sold it, Money well spent.
Owen Harris
Holy shit I was afraid to look at the forecast because of that.
I need to wait the weekend to instal the new points on the bike and blood and wine just came out anyway.
Grayson Gray
Here they predicted summer will be here next Monday (and thunderstorms in the rest of the week)
Juan Ward
I thought there were two reasons for buying a new bike and those are getting the latest and greatest kit and making sure your bike hasn't been owned by retards like me.
John Myers
Here winter starts next week
Wyatt Walker
>winter That looks like average late spring weather.
Usually I end up going full hektik by accident. Day before yesterday, I found some semblance of curvy roads hours away down in Missouri. Thing is that they were poorly-maintained, and so had a bad surface in addition to grit and gravel. I come up this rise and realize, holy shit that's a 100* corner, but it's too late and so I lock up the back tire. I figure going off into the tall grass is better than lowsiding, so straight ahead and over I go. Couple of cracks on the black fairing that goes around the headlights of the silly, big-eye 'Strom, and a busted turn signal that I taped back together. I couldn't find all the plastic bits else it would've been fixable with superglue.
On the other bike, I tend to bomb down dirt/gravel roads at about 55-60MPH. I go slow around the corners though. I'm not gud enuf to be fully hektik.
Austin Cooper
I think I figured out while they where exiled from England. They weren't criminals but Fire Demons.
Leo Nguyen
Anything lower than 30 is cold.
Aaron Clark
idk does racing my mate on our way home from work count? Normally sitting between 160-200km/h along the twisties after work, normally a good race considering my bike beats his statesman through corners but the stato has my bike on the straights
Lincoln Walker
>be me >go full throttle until rev limit literally everywhere >top speed 100km/h (60mph)
LITERALLY MFW
Andrew Foster
I think scratches and dents give bikes character. I mean, a new bike is always a new bike and it looks great and sounds mediocre (if no after-market pipes have been installed yet) and it's gonna turn heads, guaranteed.
But a bike that's been through a few drops etc. always has that trooper-feeling. Keeps on going, does it's thing just as well as any other bike would, but it has scars to prove it's had its fair share of rides :)
Treat your bike right and it'll treat you right.
Alexander Fisher
Hi, reddit
Ayden Kelly
I feel sorry for the person that buys my bike saying "it only has 19,000km" not knowing it was 19,000km at 11-13,000rpm. My bike nearly needs new rings and a new timing chain but shhhhh
Cameron Jenkins

Joshua Hernandez
Do you get pissed when you wave at someone and they don't wave back?
David Myers
i still don't even know how or why people use reddit. Doesnt it just link you to other websites?
Luis Jackson
Hi summer
Brandon Richardson
When engine braking, should I do it in each gear on my way down? Or can I just shift from fourth to first in one go and then slowly let out the clutch to brake?
David Phillips
No. Its retarded this wave bullshit. Im just another motorist using the road.
Gavin Jackson
Hi 9gag No, you dunce Just clutch in, downshift, brap, release clutch
Landon Ward
i don't understand the question, have you ridden a bike before or are you preparing to ride one for the first time? have you driven a car before? Do you understand how to engine brake in a car?
Nolan Morgan
i coast in neutral until i come to a stop. is that bad?
Andrew Cook
Hi summer
Owen Howard
I have literally never been on reddit, no idea what you're referring to.
I don't know how it works wherever you live, but in Finland the whole "buyer beware" thing doesn't really hold true. Finns are protected by law for 6 months after purchase of vehicles (and 5 friggin' years after purchase of property/house) where at any time if whatever you purchased isn't holding up to what was said in the advert, you're entitled to your money back. 100% + interest.
Brody Taylor
Shift through them or you'll risk braking too hard and potentially losing your control/balance. I'd also imagine a few progressions from 8k to 4K rpm is better for the machine than a dibble from 12k to 4k.
Elijah Lee
go back to funnyjunk fagget, if you brap you gonna get the lurches happening, gotta vroom vroom up to the correct rpm and hold it there before starting to slow down again, like a well oiled vibrator.
Angel Rogers
Yes, don't say this on Veeky Forums or they'll bitch about your throwout bearing Anyway, bikes do not have syncros, so you'll ruin your gearbox
Justin Lewis
whats brap and whats a vibrator?
Christopher Hernandez
No because I don't have a big gaping pussy where my man parts are
Lincoln Hernandez
These and the FJR1300 both look fucking sexy.
Nicholas Turner
Fuck that is dumb, so i could buy a perfectly good bike in finland, run it into the ground and seize the engine then blame the previous owner 5 months later?
See how that could be abused? yeah im guessing thats why it is not a thing here.
Samuel Sullivan
>Or can I just shift from fourth to first in one go and then slowly let out the clutch to brake?
you can
Brayden Torres
That doesn't apply to vehicles bought from private sales.
Connor Parker
ask your mum she probably has at least 3 of them.
Parker Cruz
that fag needs to learn how to ride the track
Connor Cooper
WTF you fat piece of shit i ask a simple question and you shit all over me? fuck you
Charles Cruz
indeed
Ryan Scott
I am legit serious. i found my mums vibrator draw once when i was like 9, didnt know what i had found and thought it was all different massagers. they were not for that kind of massage user. it was a different massage. it still haunts me.
Oliver Hernandez
you guys understand the first webm was compression lock and that webm is a powerslide right?
William Baker
don't think you watched very far into the 2nd webm before typing out a sentence.
Leo Wright
But it does, even though it's a pain in the ass to prove, and requires some paperwork beforehand. I know it's commonly only applicable to purchases made by individuals from a dealer, but the thing is that it's just a bit easier to do for dealers. But it totally applies to c2c sales as well.
Grayson Wood
yeaa, zrx1200 aswell
Ryan Rivera
>compression lock Could you be any more fucking pretentious? Cringe.
Blake Evans
You would be right. i honestly thought it was another 3 second webm.
Ethan Turner
what do people with autism call compression lock? back wheel stop turny so fasty?
Ryan Ross
usually people just refer to it as "backing it in" these days.
Eli Turner
it just a normal part of riding a motorcycle. compression lock doesnt even make any sense. sounds cringe as fuck.
Austin Kelly
but the compression in the engine is causing the wheel to lock.. are you 16 or something?
Dylan Collins
What's locking the rear is the fucking rear break you idiot.
Don't post in these threads unless you own a bike.
Adrian Harris
brake*
Josiah Sanchez
No its dropping back 2 gears then the engine locking the rear wheel due to the amount of compression in the engine ya spanner, you would understand this if you had ever ridden a bike with more than 250cc.
Joseph Green
the wheel isn't even locked
Isaiah Clark
you are so fucking stupid its unbelievable.
Chase Parker
thats because the wheel doesnt completely lock under compression lock, it happens because the wheel is trying to spin faster than the engine will allow it to spin.
Leo Adams
What you're talking about doesn't have anything to do with the compression of the engine.
Stop typing.
Nolan Howard
The wheel isn't locked though, is just spinning a lot slower than the bike is going.
Ayden Robinson
>i am really mad about knowing nothing about bikes the post how can you get to however old you are and not know what compression lock is?
next you will tell me engine braking isnt real.
Brody Perry
>compression lock stop fucking saying this. no one says this you autistic retard nobike.
motogp riders know how to rev match, bro.
Jordan Baker
ABENDS WENN ES DUNKEL WIRD UND DIE FLEDERMAUS SCHON SCHWIRRT
>tfw allowed to do my A2 in about 3 weeks hell yeah mother-in-law enforcement fucker
Cameron Scott
so you are saying that if i got on to a lets say a ducati 1098 because they are sexy bikes i guess, got that thing to the rev limiter in 3rd gear then dropped it back to 2nd while at the rev limiter that the rear wheel would not lock?
Or are you mad about the fact that that wheel doesnt lock completely? which it would if they were using the rear brake to do that like you are implying because you have to on your shit 250 to be able to slide into corners?
Nolan Myers
I've riden bikes with 17:1 compression that have zero engine braking
It has nothing to do with compression you're fucking stupid and don't know what you're talking about.
1) no one calls it that 2) has absolutely nothing to do with compression 3) good riders and drivers rev match 4) his wheel isn't locked
you couldn't possibly be more wrong if you were trying, obvious nobike/commuter
Samuel Nelson
>i have ridden bikes with voodoo electronics that take away the engine braking so i don't lock the rear wheel when i let off the throttle the post
