My grandfather killed commies in Korea during the 50's

Sorry if shit greentext but I thought it was relatable.

>be me like ten circa 2005 or 2006
>get invited to kid from school's birthday party/sleepover
>he invited the whole class but I didn't have many friends especially outside of school so I was excited nonetheless
>day of party comes
>kid's mom's apartment is on the east side of town innaghetto
(no idea why dad let me go. Probably thought it was important to me. Thanks dad)
>long ass drive for some reason
>bring Gameboy Advance for ride and link cable in case Pokemon to trade at the party
>finally get there
>other than kid that invited me I don't recognize anyone
>I am the only kid from school that showed up apparently
>only one who brought him a present
(I wish I remember what I got him)
>we do normal birthday shit and he opens my gift
>play Call of Duty 3 campaign
(I think that was my first time seeing and playing COD)
>it's getting late so his mom tells everyone it's time to go to bed
>not tired so decide to play some Pokemon
>random friend of birthday kid next to me says "HEY CAN I PLAY?"
>"No, I don't even know you"
>kid gets really pissy for some reason and wakes up birthday kid's mom
>he tells her I won't let him play
>kid's mom tells me I'm not allowed to play because the other kids don't have Gameboys
>WAT.jpeg
>whatever
>try to go to sleep but can't
>after a half an hour to an hour everyone else is asleep so I decide to play again
>forgot to turn down volume before turning on Gameboy
>kid next to me wakes up
>"SHE SAID YOU'RE NOT ALLOWED TO PLAY!"
>everyone wakes up
>birthday kid's mom comes downstairs
>she says she's going to take my gameboy and give it back when I leave >WAT2.0.jpeg
>don't fight it because I am a guest in her home and I do not want to lose maybe only friend
>somehow fall asleep even though not tired
>wake up next morning
>dad shows up soon after to pick me up
>"here's your Gameboy"
>t-thanks...

North Koreans or Chinese?

Not that interesting. But I used to be curious about anarchism and communism and went on Revleft. That experience and reading about complexity science changed my view and I think both anarchists and communists are mostly idiots.

I think Karl Marx was right on some stuff tho.

He served in the Air Force so I guess Russians as well as Koreans and Chinese.

What do you believe now as compared to then?

That's cool. Got any pictures?

When I went to high school, there was like 5 kids who went around telling everybody they were Communists. They were with out a doubt the most cringe human beings I've ever met. Some of them were in my World History and Psych classes so every time something about Marxism/Communism came up in discussion, one of them had to give input. I remember once that one of them straight up rose their hand and tried to say the Holodomor and Great Purge never happened when we discussed Stalin in my History class. But the cherry on top of the cringe sundae was during the winter months, some of them wore those terrible fake fur Uskhankas with the hammer & sickle on it that you can buy off Amazon for 20 bucks. They were terrible.

Grandfather fought communist hordes back to Soviet Union.

I'm happy that edgelords like them are too degenerate to afford telogreikas.

German? Partisan?

The usual weak looking white kid with a pizza face in high school called himself a communist

There were a few edgy commie kids at my school. Also my Grandpa fought in Vietnam, his uncle was stationed in Germany after WW2 where he witnessed soviet troops.

>That experience and reading about complexity science changed my view and I think both anarchists and communists are mostly idiots.

Is that you, me?

>Great grandfather was a small time landlord heavily involved in providing food for the state, so he wasn't conscripted in WW2
>only German soldier of the garrison was stationed in his house
>He payed for his food and rent
>fast forward to 1944
>Germans flee
>commies come
>they eat all the farm animals and give us flees
exact words of my grandfather
>do a bamboo court on great grandfather
>declare him an enemy of the revolution
>execute him
>deface house with "here lived Marin, the people's traitor"
>family wasn't allowed to remove it well into the 80s
>grandfather was forced to join the communist party to keep his job and not get kicked out of his house

And the standard things like having your education being ruined if school staff saw you at a church and getting your parents fired from their jobs.

I sat next to that kid in art class. Literally put a hammer and sickle in every one of his pieces. Was a real fucking autist. I destroyed all of his arguments daily.

I have a friend from Ukraine that lived under the Soviet Union. He's pretty cool and we like to makes jokes about communism and Stalin and shit. Personally it's the anarcho-communist or any from the libertarian left I'm fined with, its the Marxist Leninist and tankies that are retarted.

My mum and grandma grew up in communist Yugoslavia. Here are some anecdotes.
Grandma:
> Learned how to shoot in high school.
> Got arrested trying to cross the border in the 50s while pregnant with my mum. They locked her up in a literal castle. (One time I sent her photos of my dorm room. She replied 'i had a nicer room when I was in prison' lel.)
>No cars or electricity well into the 60s. Had to go to Zagreb so see such wonders.
> Still loves Tito to this day. But believes those rumours about him being replaced by a Russian.

Mum:
> Used to have to look after her infant brother while my grandma went to work in the corn fields. She would have been like, 4.

Let me guess, little village they grew up in?

You deserved it desu

Most people are idiots. Some just don't have big mouths and hide it better than others. Chances are you're probably an idiot too, you just realize there's a point where you should shut up and keep it to yourself.

>Most people are idiots. Some just don't have big mouths and hide it better than others. Chances are you're probably an idiot too, you just realize there's a point where you should shut up and keep it to yourself.

I hate people like you. So what if most people are stupid? Why should we discourage anyone from trying to learn and express themselves and voice their opinions.

I didn't say you should discourage learning and shit. I said some idiots are smart enough to keep their mouths shut in order to not look like idiots. That doesn't make them not idiots. It just makes them idiots that are capable of hiding the fact that they're idiots.

Ahhh I went back there a while ago.maybe like 10,000 people?

I hate them all honestly. I used to think Left-Libs and Anarchists were OK until I realized that at the end of the day, M-Ls and Anarkiddies are exactly the same, they just use different advertising.

So like was it a small village when they where growing up?

........ What makes you say that?

Tito was best desu

...

He was a madman I'll give him that

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virovitica

Here you go mate, let me know when you've done googling the town census data circa 1960, cuz my Serbo-Croatian ain't the best.

Looks pretty cool, Yugoslavia best Slavia

Libertarianism is just an american way of saying liberalism

>liberalism

Has a very different meaning in North America.

See Canadian Liberal Party.

the anarchist are mostly useful idiots

are you saying liberalism died in 1775?

Liberalism has been on the rise since a few decades before the american revolution

It's just been given a different name in that country

Yes and I find it idiotic how some people view liberalism as the complete opposite of what it actually is

I used to be part of a anarcho-communist group associated with anonymous
Then I got gud
t. /g/

I was born in a communist country and was like four when the shithouse collapsed, I was in kindergarten and we had to switch from calling teachers "comrade" to calling them " Mrs." basically overnight and we didn't even understand why.

I think capitalism is the best we got and that some kind of hierarchy is necessary. Back in the day I even had some interest in anarcho-primitivism, but my increasing knowledge of ecology and evolution as well as the concept of novel ecosystems makes me worry less about nature. Even the book 1491 has played its part.

I am studying ecology nowadays.
I should've used another word. What I meant to say is unrealistic and utopian.

Wanna hear something spooky? The only thing from RevLeft I am positive of is feminism (up to a point, depends on the variant), and before RevLeft I didn't like it.

One author that is very influential on my current thinking is Nassim Taleb. Through him I found Yaneer Bar Yam and Stuart Kauffman (complexity scientists), and started reading more complexity science (such as Eric D Beinhocker). I am about to read Hayek.

Nassim Taleb is critical of modernity and that is what remains with me. What changed is that I no longer believe anarchism or communism is the answer but solutions based on complexity science. Taleb's solution is antifragile and skin in the game.

same thing neo conservatives say about military men haha!

In the height of my ironic teen phase in high school I wore a Soviet unshanka around. Shit's comfy as fuck though, I still wear it in the cold I just take the star off.

>1970s Bulgaria
>Mandatory conscription. Dad is an operator of an armored personnel carrier
>brigade leader bullies my dad
>my dad beats him up and spends two weeks in lock up room. (Would've been a lot more if grandma hadn't pulled strings.)
>conditions are horrendous.
>Share a dark cold room with 2 other people.
>They take turns on sitting on a small bench, because the floor is too cold.
>Gets fed once a day with leftovers from the guards
Fun times.

Typical libertarian origin story.

wew

Well I have a story of my great-grandfather.
>during revolution of greece between communists and the current system
>great-grandfather was communist who fought for greece
>had to carry his dead best-friend on his shoulder for days so he could bury him in his village
>fought the italians into albania
>spent time in mountains with russian soldiers who convinced him to become communist
>non communists beat him to death in front of my great-grandmother and grandfather
>great-grandmother throws grandfather out the window so they don't kill him too
>he runs and hides in the woods for days
>comes back and is ostracised and bullied for being communist
That is one of my families stories about WW2.

le peaceful fascist

when does fascism come into the equation

You know a people is degenerate when they get beaten and or killed for their political beliefs.

I don't trust the market to regulate itself so I would be a left libertarian if even. I know the Political Compass isn't the most accurate thing but I feel it is in my case.

Ushankas are pretty dope, just don't get one with any commie symbolism on it

My family escaped persecution in Laos by crossing the Mekong into Thailand and was later allowed to move to the US, partly because of my grandpa's service during the Laotian civil war. The Lao People's Democratic Republic is still head hunting in the mountains for Hmong people because of their involvement in the war.

I also avoided going to a liberal arts college because I did not want to have to interact with ideologically vapid people who would seek to invalidate the struggle of my people because it doesn't mean their arbitrary standard of "actual" communism.

I've noticed that no matter what it may be people just want different than what they have or are given.

People think too much about the wrong things.

What do you mean exactly?

They build their hopes on expectations which are based on their wants. It tempts disappointment.

>Am Estonian
>Step-grandpa is Russian from Karelia (74 y.o.)
>One time ask him what he thought of soviet times when playing cards
>Slams hand of cards on table
>Que full on high-impact redpilling in broken Estonian about the evils of Lenin, Stalin, Hitler (Russians love to hate him) and the communist system
>Hates the USSR, the "let's bake too much bread and feed the surplus to cows" economy system, the party members acting like nobility and the constant propaganda
>Ends with "But now I am Estonian hehe say Ilves is cuckold swede in pub and not get big toe cut off by police."

I love my grandpa

And what would you do, as a parent, in this situation?

I would do the same as his mum did. Otherwise the constant screams and complaints regarding people taking turns between playing the fucking thing wouldn't let me sleep.

>Used to have to look after her infant brother while my grandma went to work in the corn fields. She would have been like, 4.
Does that surprise you? Pollack here. My parent's generation WORKED in fields when they were "like 4".

>kick open door
>SHUT THE FUCK UP I'M TRYINA SLEEP
b-but mr. user he's playing his gameboy
>GAMEFAG, PLAY YOUR NINTENDO AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE BUT I SWEAR ON ME MUM IF I HEAR ONE BEEPADYFUCKINGBOOP I WILL DEFENESTRATE YOU
>YOU, STFU AND GO TO SLEEP

>Russian from Karelia
REEE I WANT MY FINNISH CLAY BACK

Finnish

My grandpa is Karjala """Russian""" not vodka blyad nahuj PUTIN IS 6''2' Tatar rape baby

I didn't even know the kid so I wasn't gonna let him potentially fuck up my Pokemans. If I was the mom I would've told the kid to get over it.

You should of gone teary eyed and told the mother That Kid hit you with his foot and it hurt real bad.
If some little shit appeals to authority, you are free by the heavens' own authority to respond in kind.

Family is from Czechoslovakia

>drive to East Germany to go shopping
>buy too much shit, would have been hassled by border police
>wear all the clothes they bought at once, hide the rest the best they could
>grandparents worked as school custodians - thus have Ministry of Education documents
>border police think they are of some importance and wave them through without much scrutiny

>with access to school at all times, g'parents use printing presses to make flags/t-shirts
>illegally sell them, including to military/police (they needed graphic tees no joke)
>grandpa/uncle would also siphon gas and sell it to truckers
>accumulate enough (foreign) cash
>go to Tuzex: only store to sell foreign goods and only for foreign money
>buy a Fiat
>be hot shit

>mom learned how to shoot guns, throw grenades, and put on gas masks in school
>had history teacher who was not a fan of communism - loaded the curriculum with so much other stuff that "modern history" was never covered
>considering the Pioneers the best part of her childhood since it meant getting away from super-polluted coal-mining town and camping in the mountains
>used to listen to bootleg recordings of underground rock/folk musicians and went to their concerts

>all these eastern Europeans

No wonder Rome threads get spammed with >WE WUZ faggotry. This board is filled with baltic monkeys whose ancestors were nomadic horse fuckers.

>People who experienced real life EQUALITY first or second hand post about their qualms with it

>It's just butthurt latvian potato niggers trust me

You seem like you were a spoiled brat, and a boring one at that considering the fact you actually thought that would make interesting green text story material.
What does that even have to do with Communism?

>Communist societies can't exist without hierarchical structures
And you act like you know any better.

My great-grandfather's brother was a communist resistance fighter during WW2, that's about it, I think.

The only communist I knew wound up getting arrested for fucking a twelve year old.

A villain is born .

My mom talks about how she as a little girl in Cuba would sit on the front of her house and look up to the sky and be thankful there weren't any warplanes. And she would be thankful for living in such a good peaceful country. But when we got here she realize there weren't any planes flying because the Cuban goverment didnt have any money for fuel.

I'm a communist. I do political organizing in Chicago. Scared to meet my Chinese girlfriend's parents. Such is life.

>That image

>That teacher that would say "Communism works on paper"

Any ideology looks great on paper

My family on both side were communist. One of my grand-father was mayor in his village affiliated with the PCF (french communist party).

My great-grandfather on the other side of the family fought in the spanish civil war for the republicans. I've got some locket he got during that time on my key ring.

I'm a communist too even though most communist parties today are a joke.

hehe i remember when i was in high school and hated my parents

My great-grandfather fought in the Spanish civil war, I think for the republicans since he refused to eat with his half-brother who was half German

>muh heritage
I miss a funny story or interesting fact.

All my family stems from the GDR. I was born in it.

Interesting fact: The prize of a beer in a pub in the late 80ies. 50 Pfennig (GDR Mark) = 25 Pfennig (D-Mark) = 12 Euro Cents. And this is only official currency trade. The inofficial one was 1:10 instead of 1:2 (GDR : D).

Coupled with fun fact Nr. 2: The GDR was the most drunk country ever so far in record. At least 23 bottles of hard liquor per person per year.
Which ranks with the top tier drinking countries of today: (not surprisingly these are leftover-sowjet-ruled-pseudo-socialist-countries): Belarus and Moldova.

The monarchists collaborated with the Nazis

>tfw your grandfather was a McCarthyist
>tfw he turned your dad into a McCarthyist
My dad still thinks commies are trying to run the White House. I mean, he ain't wrong, but shit man.

Only commie I've ever seen was the kid in front of me in highschool Latin class who would draw communist black power shit in his notebook. Other than that I've got nothing.

This isn't even remotely related to communism

Well I could greentext my grandmother's story about my great-grandfather even though it goes the same, my great-grandfather didn't really talk about his experiences in that war
>grandma is about 7 or 8, living with my great-grandfather in Guadalajara, Mexico
>go to some big house a few hours away owned by some great-aunt
>introduces my great-grandfather's half brother and goes on and on about the fact he's half German
>great-grandpa just goes outside to the porch
>time to eat
>grandma goes to get him
>great-grandfather just tells her he fought the Germans so he's not gonna eat with them
That's it really

I WAS BORN IN A SMALL VILLAGE

Part of any organization or just do your own thing?

My grandmother used to tell me stories about the Hungarian Revolution of 1956. She told lots of sad ones but there's one which always cracks me up.
>Grandma born in a little town near Veszprém, a Hungarian city
>Born into Danube Swabian family, never spoke Hungarian until she was like 4, whatever
>comes 1956, she was 11 years old
>Great grandpa was really into it, hated commies like hell because they took away his tavern and took him for 2 years to Recsk (practically the Hungarian Gulag)
>Since he worked at the Hungarian Post, he thought he should help the revolutionaries in Veszprém
>So he goes the main square of Veszprém
>He saw that 4 or 5 guys wants to tear down that ugly Stalin statue
>He helps them of course
>Someone took a photograph of them
>Great grandpa of course full-on smiles into the camera
>Later the Soviets came back
>Great grandpa forgets about the photo
>In 1957 someone from the Ministry of Interior starts asking at the Hungarian Post in Veszprém about him
Commies didn't do anything about it but IIRC my grandma said they couldn't travel to Austria until the early 80s because of it.
I don't know if the photo is still out there somewhere.
Although most of my family stories are crazy as shit not really related to communism or socialism.

Arrested for fucking her or for not sharing her with others like a good commie ?

people, please just call them fur hats as that is the original name, see, soviets copied the hat design from the finnish who just called "karvahattu" which translates to fur hat.

>tfw granddad was a full-blown communist
>he had to flee Canada at the height of McCarthyism
>Canada
>he was getting death threats through the letter box daily
>in Canada

>Libertarian Left

Just as bad as the Libertarians in America.

>go to a liberal arts college
>forced to take some kind of arts course
>take a class on Ancient Greek plays because it's being taught by a professor in my department so I expected some kind of quality (Veeky Forums department)
>we read assemblywomen because it outlines historical muh soggy knees
>admitted commie in the class flips his shit when we get to the part about the slaves
Class turned out better than expected despite the post-modernist propaganda desu.

What Hayek are you about to read?
There is one part in the Road to serfdom where he backs government provided healthcare and some form of minimum income, anti-trust laws, regulated natural monopolies etc.

Just don't read Prices and Production.
As an ecologist, I assume you like the idea of spontaneous order?

Anything espousing equality of outcome doesn't.

I had one like that . Also went on about affirmative action and shit too. He was actually a really nice guy, its just a shame he was a cuck

>grandma hates communism despite never experiencing it or talking to anyone about it
>only listens to televangelists and whatever news station they tell her to listen to
>says Obama is a Kenyan Muslim and Bernie is a communist and that America is becoming communist thanks to Obama

She's very stereotypical. I miss my grandfather. He would've put her straight.
