BBC salty they let Jeremy walk out now

honestly what do you expect?

Of course people were going to watch episode one just to see if it holds a candle to clarkson/may/hammond top gear

>it doesn't but watching gordon ramsay get bitch slapped and do a time attack was very entertaining

Lol top gear BTFO by Antiques Roadshow.

t b h I like Matt, think he's entertaining like the old guys, but not interested in anyone else really

I think everyone expected this

this desu senpai

Is the show really that bad (for an auto enthusiast) or are people just hating on Evans and BBC for sacking Clarkson?
Havent seen any of the new episodes yet

>deliberately make a dumbed-down version TG to appeal to normies
>doesn't appeal it normies because no clarkson
>doesn't appeal to car fans because it's shit

tfw Extra Gear gets more ratings than Top Gear

it's not funny
The first episode had a laugh track because the studio audience wasn't laughing at any of Evans' jokes.

Personally, I think he just looks like an utter twat. Jeremy was a bit of a twat in character, but he looked and acted like a friendly and likable guy, with big smiles and funny expressions. Evans looks rather condescending (it's partly the hipster glasses) and doesn't so much smile as smirk.

Hammond, May, and Clarkson are Top Gear.

evans genuily looks like The emperor in star wars

I genuinely couldn't finish the first episode because it was so bad

I genuenly couldnt finish on your mom last night because she was so ugly

...

>>deliberately make a dumbed-down version TG to appeal to normies
>normies
it's one of the most widely-watched television series in the world. Just what the fuck are you on about?

The problem is that Chris Evans has about as much personality as a bowl of chicken soup, Sabine Schmitz is about as entertaining as a clogged toilet and Matt Leblanc is just pulled around a like child's wooden dog on a string.

The BBC took the normiest bits of old-new-TG (the challenges, celebrities) and pushed all of the boring car stuff (indepth reviews, news) onto extra Gear

The show is a mess.

Why didn't seasick steve did the race?

Why didn't said the mercedes time?

Eddy Jordan sadly look like a senile old guy.

Evans has no charisma as a presenter.

Show would be better only with leblanc.

...

...

Just checked his twitter

FACTS!

...

Can't wait to see what he'll think of the last episode's ratings.

...

Clarkson's face when

Antiques roadshow is p chill tho pham

>that fucking butthurt
>r-ratings don't matter guys
>please ignore how last week I was all about ratings

>>deliberately make a dumbed-down version TG to appeal to normies

TG was actually quite dumbed down if you think about it.

It was pure entertainment and a lot of "information" in it was blatantly wrong.

I tried to see how bad the new flop gear was

I got 2 minutes into it and had to turn it off

At least it had some 'information'

>FACT

Veeky Forums called this months ago, IIRC.
And that.

> Let him walk out
They FIRED HIM.

Well, you've pretty much got his style of argument in one simple picture there.

I'm still using him as an example of 'what would your ideal job be' when asked in job interviews, though.

The show is a big fat mistake.

Well to be honest, Extra Gear was much better, Sabine and Matt are ok. Thou Matt is bit too monotone, but I think within a season he would be cool. The two guys in Extra Gear are pretty ok, liked them, the thing is the seemed bit stiff during extra gear, if those guys would be given more opportunities to be creatively fun it could work.

All they have to do is get rid of Evans. That's it.

>show goes global under Clarkson and friends
>pick main host no one outside of The British Isles proper has ever even fucking heard of

Bold strategy from the BBC, alienating the audience of the most syndicated show in television must be some sort of ruse.

>They FIRED HIM.
Salty AF

this. who hired this clown.

>mfw BBC panics and tries to do something immediately to save the show
>mfw they fire Evans and give the show to LeBlanc and Sabine

antiques roadshow is more informative and more entertaining honestly

May's unemployment tube is more entertaining than this crap.

youtube.com/watch?v=tbbkDiuz9fw

This is comfy as fuck.
He needs a cooking show.

The fuck. Why has it taken this long for me to hear of this?

Watching them assemble boxes is more entertainning than new gear

LeBlanc and Sabine are awful.

>its a plug

It truly is friendship simulator.

fucking hell i want to like new top gear
production quality is still spot on
the cars are still cool
literally the only thing holding the show back is Evans... can he portray a personality that isn't absolute shit?

Production quality has gone way down, they lost their best directors, cameramen and editors.
They are trying to copy the cinematography of old top gear, but they're fucking up the pacing.

Thanks for the link, this is super comfy.

i haven't noticed, it still looks great to me. where'd the directors and cameramen go?

Every fucking image of this fucker makes me want to punch him in the face even more

>indepth reviews
>top gear

Who do you think they went with?

>i haven't noticed, it still looks great to me. where'd the directors and cameramen go?

>thinking they did anything besides follow the trio to Amazon

It's not so much an issue now in the first couple episodes, but all the show's industry connections also left with Jeremy. No one knows/gives a fuck about Evans. Would YOU loan him your multi-million dollar hypercar?

Best episode of the day so far is the Breitling watch test and taking the trucks to Canada to get Hammond..

Haven't seen the 2nd newest one yet (1 hr away.).

Am I gonna be impressed?

They went to Grand Tour.
Apparently this was an issue with production - companies were sending cars to Grand Tour to the point that Top Gear had trouble sourcing demo vehicles.
It makes sense - there's not exactly going to be a bunch of excess demo Huayras and P1s.

You figure with ultra high end cars like that, companies probably only have one press demo, maybe 2? And even then, you probably have to be a well established and well respected//liked auto journalist to even have someone like Pagani take you seriously when you rung up the press office

I don't get the excitement, you keks. Top Gear was on a decline as is: it peaked around 2007-2008, after that it was going downhill anyway. When their show airs on Amazon the ratings aren't going to be red hot either because it's going to be paid content. Plus all the retards who watched Fast and Furious back in the early 00's (aka auto enthusiasts) are growing up now and are starting to get (shitty) jobs, so they won't have time to watch the new show...

>it peaked around 2007-2008
Ok, maybe it's too narrow of a window, probably more like 2007-2010.

the Amazon show affords them the budget to do alot of the things that made the show great though, epic trips through foreign lands with sitty cars.

Imagine Top gear trying to do the Dakar, or a real WRX style event, or fucking building submarine cars to go from Australia to Japan.out of old Volvo wagons. Maybe it's pie in the sky thinking on my part, but I think the budget will free them up to try some really crazy stuff they always wanted to do, but couldn't with the BBC

Most likely it's only one demo car, probably that's going to be sold cheaper on the basis that they used to for demos.

Fantastic

BBC is a government broadcasting corporation and Top Gear had no budget constraints there. At Amazon they're going to be constrained by ROI considerations.

B-but it's so progressive now!

Son have you compare the budget amazon is giving them to what BBC gave them?

They're getting a budget of 7million per episode?

You wanna take a guess as to how much BBC gave them per episode?

Ill save you the trouble.

1.5 million.

And? If the views aren't going to be there that budget is going to be substantially reduced. ROI.

This is what happens when you're funded by stealing money at gun point from people.

I would imagine they'd have less constraints and censorship at Amazon vs the beeb as well.

say ROI again

>BBC is a government broadcasting corporation and Top Gear had no budget constraints there
They have already been handed 250 MILLION for the first season of TGT, they are getting something on the order o 7 times as much funding per episode than they ever got from the BBC, and granted I'm American, but from what I have gathered, trying to do ANYTHING with the BBC was a complete shit show, were as Amazon is not going to give a flying fuck

Return on investment? Amazon could run the show in the red for 5 years and not be concerned. It's going to be a hug draw for Prime, and gets them boat loads of positive publicity that in itself holds a ton of value.

One of the reasons Clarkson was so eager to leave was, allegedly, increasing BBC interference on the creative side that was slowly ruining the show.

I took that with a grain of salt, until I saw this new "Top Gear". Finally the Beeb got to make the show just the way they want to, and it is a fucking disaster

Still can't get over the BBC dropping in a laugh track when they film the show in front of a real fucking audience. Who the fuck in BBc production thought that was going slip through unnoticed

you can save face by admitting your mediocrity, chris evans

The BBC's current leadership are all mentally ill.

>mfw I have Amazon Prime anyway because muh free 2-day shipping and I won't even have to pirate Grand Tour
Speaking of piracy, I should go back and watch the old episodes.

TG was already as dumb as possible, breh
It was always normie shit and it still is.

>car fans
what does this even mean.

Either you build show cars or you build/drive race cars. Everything else is normie shit.

I don't think they really understand how social media works

Seconding this. It's not like shows on Amazon Prime have advertisements or anything to give them a clear black/red ROI line each episode. This is completely to draw in more people to Prime, to draw them good publicity, and to draw more content in the future to be on Prime.

t. oisin "human punching bag" tyson

Nah Clarkson & co. are busy making boxes

Shit yes, start some time after season 5/6 because that's when the challenges started.

Thanks for the recommendation bb, will do. Time to get comfy.

Probably a good challenge to see if you like it is Bolivia or Botswana, both are top tier.

leave oisin alone

The funniest thing is that he copped the punch and he's the only one to have his career ruined over this.

Matt is the only reason I'm sad to see the new one fail. I really like him, which is more than I can say for almost any tv personality.

I feel bad for Chris Harris

mannn today I was watching the truck episode from season 12, many keks. All those jokes about murdering prostitutes and pornography wouldn't be allowed these on cuck gear im sure

Perfect Capitalism vs. socialism comparison right here. Getting funded by the government that forces its citizens to buy a license to watch TV sounds nice, but then you got a private corporation that is continuously looking at what the customer wants.

>Worse ratings than an Antique's Roadshow rerun

fuck me i quite like antiques roadshow. i love how passionate the people are about some old knickknacks, and they know so much about them.

7/10, would watch while somewhat intoxicated

>the BBC doesn't have to pander its audience

stop being fucking retarded, burgerclap, every state owned TV broadcaster has to meet rating requirements

Watch any of the Clarkson Top Gear's. There's a laugh track in those too. Whenever Clarkson makes a shit joke there's canned laughter where you can one woman's high pitched chuckle

Yes!
Dude I hate Sabine, she was good in the van on the hurrdurring but that was it. Even with the mini Cooper racing I couldn't stand her

Also the lap times were re written so it wasn't the previous casts hand writing

Never have i been so mad

I'll be kinda sad for Stig, he was a good character to have. Of course Grand Tour will have something like him, but it just won't be the same.

Not just that, the track was reworked and they kept the old times, so all cars are now like 3 seconds faster magically.
