Why are 20 year old hondas more reliable than modern super cars?

Why are 20 year old hondas more reliable than modern super cars?

Why doesn't a quarter of a million dollar price tag and millions of R&D research buy a quality product?

Want power?
Sacrifice reliability.

Why can;t I have both by paying more?

In every other industry more money = high quality. Except the car industry.

Complexity.
Also lean manufacturing was first introduced to mainly increase quality and reduce lead times but are now used to mainly increase profits.

The targets getting squeezed from both sides.

Not really. A Fiat Punto with 60hp is like 5 times more likely to break down than a Honda with the 200hp H22a engine.

But a toyota corolla with 60hp will run forever.
Build quality is a thing.

its because yuroapes and amerifats can't make supercars

epic meme

Snek

the more complex something is the more shit can go wrong
simple really

...

The GTR is far from reliable.

>implying you're Japanese

Super cars aren't really any more complex than modern cars though.

As some wise Veeky Forumstist once said
>cheap
>fast
>reliable
Choose two and only two.

>4 baits in less than 4 minutes

impressive

GTR was (probably still is) notorious for transmission issues. Not to mention the Primera tier interior.

>buy a sportsbike
>all 3

>reliable
Sure it is

>has never owned a sportsbike

its ok, one day you may

Maybe super cars suck because they are made in Italy. Maybe fiat sucks because it is made in Italy. Italians should stick to cooking.

>sportsbike

???

Not that, just comparing a motorcycle to a car is pretty stupid.

Thanks Piano man.

>The GTR is far from reliable.

What makes it unreliable? Eating its transmission from dozens of hard launches does not constitute as unreliable.

anyone here do any like milling, or machining work? OP you should work on some, then you'd probably realize why...

Simple truth is there is way more that can go wrong in a modern car, vs an older car. Especially in the electronics department.

Newer demands for exhaust and environment care have also added systems to engines that is not healthy at all for the engine, but is necessary in order to comply with standards written into law. EGR being a prime example, although it is worse for diesels than for gasoliners.

because super cars are hand made by some italian hick in a backyard with a hammer?

>more money = high quality. Except the car industry.
That's not true at all. In the car industry, like in most industries, more money just gets you more product.

they are reliable
they become unreliable when the people can't really afford them so they skimp on maintenance
simple as that

Honda civic
Prelude
Mazda 323
Corolla sprinter
Geo prizm gsi
Sc300/400
Mx6
Ford probe
Ford focus svt

And that's just the top of my head

>fast

They're pretty fast

Stop samefagging you newfag

How hard would it be for to design a reliable supercar? Of course it would be free of complex electronics and mechanics. Just design a simple mid engine chassis and slap an aluminum LS engine in it. With giant sticky tires, it would certainly have supercar performance.

Jesus christ I bet people on Veeky Forums actually think this
