Posted in the last thread but got no answer: I want to make a game that runs in a terminal emulator. Is ncurses my best bet or is there some other way I should do it?
Logan Cruz
>start trying to seriously make a game instead of just messing around with graphics frameworks and shit >get told that they way I want to do it (the only way I know) with inheritance and OOP is wrong and to use an ECS >spend days looking up how to make ECS's >finally understand them somewhat >coding skill too shit to implement one properly >gradually lose interest and stop making games I'll make a game eventually guys.
Zachary Turner
This was me; then I decided that I didn't need to use ECS. I think it's good when implemented properly, but I don't know how to use it properly, and it would take longer to grasp it and implement it so why not just go based standard OOP.

It was a nice looking game at DD9, but I had troubles finding out what is the goal of the game, if there's any game play at all.
Cameron Harris
solving puzzles with limited items, the first level is just to demonstrate the mechanics
To all who are entered in this, what are you planning for it? I don't want to go too lewd.
Connor Howard
nice, I thought you died
I just want to collab. I actually don't even care about making a lewd game
Aiden Watson
Music devs: Where do you start when writing a song? I'm just starting to learn Reason and I can never make any progress because I never know what part of the song to put down first. Is there a surefire method like percussion > chords > melody?
Jaxon Rodriguez
we have a total of 1 (one) text games, and you can't assume anyone else will be able to give an answer that isn't just bullshitting you
ncurses is good, I've used it, but that's all I can say. your best bet is to look at other games and see what they use
Josiah Cox
I have a vaguely video game related question.
A friend wants to interview my for his shitty youtube channel because I used to work at a small video game studio. I have nothing but lousy things to say about my time there, but for legal reasons I've never really said much about it. However, that studio no longer exists, and all the people who own it are out of the business. Would it be a good idea to go off on them in a youtube video now that the studio is dead or should I just keep playing it cool?
Lucas Wilson
smoothed up the following code added some breakable tiles that autotile when destroyed. also added a door and a switch u have to hit with a dumpling to open
Colton Walker
Looks kawaii
Jaxon Smith
it might affect your future in that industry or any
Nathan Clark
I usually go percussion > bass > melody > chords Feels easier to me, once I have the rythm I just mess up as much as I want with the melody without fucking up the timing, and then I can work on the chords based on the melody.
Caleb Butler
Yeah, thought that'd be the case. I guess I'll just ask the guy when he next posts his game.
Camden Cooper
What's the music genre of Katamari Damacy's soundtrack? J-pop? Happy music? Need to know what kind of music to look for my game
Leo Sullivan
A little bit of everything, really. Specify a song, because many of them are different genres.
Kayden Walker
This in particular, I like that happy romantic feeling
I'll have a look at it? Do you know what the difference between it and ncurses is?
Xavier Cook
Definitely J-Pop, but leaning more towards the cutesy Bubblegum Pop that some J-Pop artists are known for. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu does songs like that from time to time, compare Lonely Rolling Star to Kyary's song Tsukema Tsukkeru. Yukari Tamura was also pretty well know for making "dreamy" sounding cutesy J-Pop before she got into voice acting more.
I'm thinking of doing one of these in this style for every major AGDG character.
I've done a bunch of AGDG fanart, but I thought I should make a couple of high(er) quality ones, since I've been experimenting with fanart recently.
Any votes for who I should draw next?

The hands need to be further down at the forward peak and need to stay closer to their plane rather than crossing over the center axis, and the chest needs to be slightly delayed after the foot movement

look good but the animations for MC are kinda awful

>the realisation that the only character I have is definitely furry as shit
Chase Cruz
Can some music bros help me out?
I would like to create some sound effects with FamiTracker, but the last time I touched music and sheet music was ten years ago. Which notes would make a good jump sound, arriving to the ground sound, getting hit sound, and I probably would need a typing sound when the text is being written.
I just want to ask for some basic directions, since I would like to understand how this works, and how could I do it by myself.

Judging by the post above yours, male characters are usually a waste of time

That body kinda looks like a hotdog with legs. Especially the bottom middle and bottom right.

bfxr.net/ the presets in this should answer your question (or you'll just use this instead since it's not that different)

Not enough enums. Does anyone know if Unity handles more than this gracefully? I'm going to find out soon enough anyway, but I'm curious if anyone else has needed this many enums.
Josiah Young
Oh god
Evan Brown
forgot to attach my jojo interpretation of him
I don't think you're supposed to use tags like that friend
just attach a script with a "bullet type" variable exposed to the inspector
Mason Taylor
Bunny
Ryan Green
depends if you want people to play your game or fap to fanart of your game males are objectively more aesthetic btw, i would be ok if i never had to draw a female.
Daniel Murphy
oh sorry, I have terminal retardation, didn't see you have a script already

Bunnydev here, please don't do Bunny or I'll get bullied to death for having a female character in my game.

Finished the caster enemy, he randomly casts auras, red gives allies strength, yellow makes them move 50% faster and green heals them.
Now working on the level graphics, looks like i'll be ready for demo day, hopefully.

I added a bunch of enums to blow out the list to see what happens and it's the best case scenario. Scrolling isn't even annoying because it waits for you to click the arrows to move the list.
It's probably not a good idea to do this unless you're making a bullet hell though
Jackson Ortiz
Your knight's walk cycle gives makes me think he has an attitude of "I am so fucking sick of this shit"
I love it.
Austin Hill
>not adding men into your game for additional sex appeal >not wanting women to play your game

>women pĺays my game >laughs at me like every other women no thanks
Lucas Nelson
i doubt most here would even know how to make a sexually appealing male for women.
Nathaniel Nguyen
I love tiny giant knight!
Elijah Cook
When the trigger is pulled you gotta fire the bullet
Too slow and your soldier will drop you
When your solider dies, you gotta wiggle a bit and look cute so another soldier will pick you up

please update your MC to the quality of the enemies

>women >gaming What alien world are you living in user?
Chase Bell
>add male character >give him money
Ian Ortiz
He has a point. Most movies and games don't understand women. Most women characters are just men with tits. If your character can be male and it doesn't make any difference, then you are just baiting for semen. But the same goes for men: most of the time no "manly traits" are examined in the story. The characters are just empty shells for your imagination.
My favorite good example on this subject is Alien 2. The main lead has to be a woman, because then the whole "being a mother" subplot would be meaningless and non existent.
However on the opposite side, Fight Club wouldn't work with women. They are just not the type who wants to revolutionize things, since they rather seek comfort and safety in the things they know.
Nolan Jenkins
His hate for goblins manifests in his walk, user.
>tiny He's a big knight.
That will have to wait after demo day, but it will be done.

That thumbnail is so bad, it looks like the mouth is the dark blue and the chin is super pointy.

>dev game designed for attracting women >can't playtest without becoming gay as fuck
Jonathan Thomas
Men don't understand women. Women don't understand women. No human being understands women.
Luke Sanchez
have your gf playtest it you have gf, right user?
Oliver Ross
seriously that wouldnt hurt but also it's fiction and they know deep down they dont get the money so that DADDY better also be sexy.
Isaac Gray
>until after demoday kys
also your stalagmites dont match the rest of your game
Mason Gutierrez
>They are just not the type who wants to revolutionize things >they rather seek comfort and safety in the things they know
I love it when virgins pretend to be gender psychology experts.
Easton Thomas
The thing is female sexuality isn't nearly as visual as male's. For men they'll be happy so long as its cute and has tits/ass. Having a big muscly man in a game isn't going to make girls damp tho.
Female sexuality revolves around a feeling of security and safety rather than pure aesthetics... hence why there are so many >tfwnogf threads on Veeky Forums, the only extra attention they get is from fat girls and gay men.
So as sickening as it is, you'd actually have to make a game WITH A STORY that reads like a shitty romance novel (also known as porn for girls), in which the average-looking male would somehow make the girl audience feel all soppy... which is way more effort than just drawing some tits on your character.
