What would a socialist America look like?

What would a socialist America look like?

An America with things like public parks, a public school system. some sort of stipend for seniors for after they retire. And some kind of state college grant system. maybe some sort of publicly funded health plan. Labor laws. Every citizen has an equal vote.

That kind of stuff.

b-but wait we alrea... ohhhhh I get it...

Oooooooor they could fail, like all socialist countries did...

>socialism is when the government goves you free stuff

I want BernieBros to leave.

Ebin. Simply ebin.

nuclear dust bowl

almost everything we have is given to us. cops, fire departments, roads, utility infrastructure, etc. plus every single american has 13 years of education paid for by taxpayers - and it's the expensive kind of education too - the kind that has a meal plan, provides daily transportation to and from, and provides all the books, teaching materials, etc.

but yeah giving grants for a comparatively few americans to get an additional 2-4 years education on top of the fully sibsidized 13 years is terrible! and it's a much cheaper than public schools as it doesn't include all the perks of food, education, books, pencils, etc.

Since when does Cenk Uygur post on his?

...

That's nice and all, but it ain't socialism.

Bernie is a social democrat not a socialist. No part of his platform calls for the workers to democratically own the means of production.

HHH is great. One of the first libertarians to stop pretending his ideology is anything more than a desire to return to aristocracy and feudalism.

the government paying for things isnt what defines socialism. socialists believe that the economy should be run democratically

Pretty spot on

>libertarian-ism
>returning to the opposite of capitalism
no

haha i wasn't being retarded i was just tr-trolling

wait ideas were invented in 1848?

>aristocracy and feudalism are the opposites of capitalism.

>the kind that has a meal plan
that you pay for
>provides daily transportation to and from
that you opt into and pay for separately
> and provides all the books
that you pay to rent

I don't disagree that people don't realize how much our taxes already pay for, just those specific things, in my own personal experience, are paid for directly by the student or student's family.

>No part of his platform calls for
To be fair, since he is out of the running his platform doesn't call for anything anymore.

The fact things like this are so hard to imagine ever possibly happening is what makes me suicidal sometimes

I don't know where you live, but where I live a FREE school bus will take you to school if you notify the district. And the textbooks only cost money if you lose or deface them. And you have to deface them a lot.

Not socialism!!

Run down eastern European shit hole combined with Venezuela. Because Command Economy doesn't fucking work.

socialism != massive welfare state.

Which is what Americans really mean when they talk about socialism. They want housing, medical, food, education, retirement, and some spending money all provided for them. Simply because they were born. They want the rich to pay for it all too. Because fuck working hard to have a productive career and paying a lot into the system.

But Venezuela was a massive welfare state. Most of the industry there is privately owned.

Sounds good to me. This country could do with less idealistic morons

...

Bill Haywood would become our glorious leader and we would fallow Haywood thoughts while ditching the Marxist Lenist scum like the Warsaw Pact and Mao' China since we will still in FREEDOM, become friends with Yugoslavia, and support the Hungarian revolution of 1956 and the Prague Spring.

(IDK I'm trying to create shit here.)

>still has private property and industry
>still has wage labour
>still has a beauracratic state

>implying socialism

t. left communist

>socialism = welfare state
I hate this meme because it's pretty much the opposite of socialism. I have to explain it both to right leaning and left leaning people when I tell them I support socialism. Socialism is about the right to work and get compensated fairly for your labor.

>every citizen has an equal vote
Thank god, we aren't socialist yet then.

>le free shit is socialism
>le anything the government does is socialism

like an oversized whiter detroit

State control isn't socialism! Worker control is socialism!

>Reddit is socialist

What?

where i live the bus the free and the books and school supplies are included as well. the meals you pay for - but it's like $2, way less than the actual meal costs because it's mostly/heavily subsidized. poor students don't have to pay.

the state as we know it has disintegrated
in its place lies a worker control council system that takes into account the opinions of the local working class in regards to what projects should be pursued, council members are democratically chosen by members of a locality.
capitalist enterprise has been abolished and replaced with worker controlled enterprise
the proletariat is slowly learning to adapt previous state functions into its repertoire, including distribution of health care, the repairing of infrastructure, the maitenance of state parks, and so on
the wage labor system has been abolished, in its place lies a system that gives workers an equivalent amount of goods to their labor's value. all products created by a local working class are stockpiled in a stockade, and those who labor are free to take their allotted amount of products for themselves.
assuming human labor is still necessary, 'he who does not work shall not eat' will still hold true, assuming that we need full employment

And that's exactly why you'll never get a socialist state. Everyone thinks Socialism = Free Shit, which is exactly what the (((elites))) wants them to think

I could absolutely see this. I'm sure that a lot of opportunist Democrats would have jumped on the social ship too. Individuals like Lyndon B. Johnson may have still been prominent public figures.

Reddit is anything I dont like

>I don't understand how the DNC went

Sounds more like social democracy than socialism.

With the exception of the trump containment, reddit is a hardcore bernie place.

Considering the demographic is college students who have never taken economics, of course they would vote for the free shit man.

anybody who has this image saved shouldnt be on this board

does not pertain to Veeky Forums

>Bernie is socialist

What?

You're being memed

The soviet union circa 1990
