Lads im about to pull the trigger on either the fiesta ST or Abarth. Which one do you prefer and why?

base seats on fist are lacking in the body grabbing department compared to focus cloth. recaros require a bit of time to break in, but are well worth the upgrade.

abarth has a great exhaust sound, but the looks and brand are kinda lack luster imo

FiST. I'm driving a rental Fiesta right now and I'm surprised how much I like it. Turbo and manual would actually make it a pleasure.

Fiesta ST if you have the choice, but a used abarth can be had for half the money.

Abarths have had reliability problems, but I think I might pick one up and see how they are for myself. They are neat little cars.

BUT, fiesta ST is better car if brand new. Look at the value of the abarth. They have depreciated like 50% in 3-4 years. You can pick up a nice 2013-2015 abarth for around $9k10k.

Drove both on extended test drives, I recommend you do the same. You will or the FiST if what you're really looking for is a little beast of a fun car. The abarth his really fun too, but the FiST is just a couple steps above.

This guy is right about the 500 abarth used cost thoug, that was almost enough to make me buy one outright after driving it. Then I drove the Fiesta and decided it was worth the extra 10k.

Fun fact, Fiesta STs are depreciating very slowly in America.

I paid 18.5k for a brand new 2015 FiST in November of last year. Bought at the right time with model year end sale and thanksgiving sale, lots of rebates. It's a base model with no options, but I bought it to mod it. I have barely 7k on the odometer, but black book and blue book value for the car at 25k on the odo is still 17kUSD. In a little under a year, I've lost about a thousand and a half to depreciation, I would say that's pretty damn good and nowhere near 25%

If you want an unreliable car, by all means buy from Fiat Chrysler.

Definitely Fiesta, it's a great tuning platform and a great daily. I'd splurge for the Recaro seats as well (they do break in quite nicely).

But drive them both and then decide.

You should be able to get 35+mpgs on the highway in the Fiesta, no problem. Even tuned I'm still making 30mpg/combined and it's quite a bit more fun.

What color/year are you looking at? The '14/'15 are identical while the '16 has some slight differences.

I'm looking at '16s right now. I'm looking to get new and the whole abarth depreciation thing is a big turnoff for me.

Nope! Mine's fully loaded though, and the extra 'features' (the now standard wheels, navigation, and sunroof) are what's depreciated the most on the vehicle. Recaro seats will always be valuable.

honestly OP, the '16 is the way to go. sync 3 is really nice, plus ford has confirmed that it's getting android auto/apple car play support later this year. if the price is relatively close between them, it might make a huge difference

and like instant said, it's just a damn fun car to drive

The ST will atleast have some resale value after a few years. Abarths depreciate like crazy. Also you can atleast use the back seats on the focus.

But ive had so many experiences where something i loved wasnt even on my radar or vice versa. We are all different and sometimes dont even realize it. Drive fucking everything in your price range. Make sure you get what you want. And take your time. All the time. The cars will always still be there. Get what you want at the price you want. Buy what makes you happy most of all!
