You could, but I don't think it's super necessary or anything.
I just did the same thing I did in EO2 and maxed out Venom Curse right away to nuke normal encounters. Remember that your force boost vastly improves the probability of landing things.

Having played VFD first, then the original, it doesn't seem any worse than where Untold went. There's callbacks everywhere and they did try to be consistent with Nyala and Haze. Time travel plot was bound to retcon some stuff and they've clearly wanted to focus on Tokyo since 2020.
I really like the world in the original though. So much better than VFD's maps. Shame that kind of overworld will likely never come back.

Or you know, THINK if you even WANT all that unlocked. A protector won't be needing bravery's gift/sentinel guard on the fucking first stratum. And far more useful skills are usually set in secondary trees.
