Right click the pet icon and then click the picture of the pet. Second button from the left activates their ability.

What should I do if I want to get as fast as possible to PvP and only focus on PvP gear?

Should I complete all the quests and do all the things there is to do in each areas or is there a fast track for PvPers?

Yeah.

PvP is mostly about gear so you'll be looking at weeks or months of endless PvE grinding to get to a gearscore where you won't be stomped by anyone looking in your general direction, at which point you'll also kill anyone with a weaker gearscore by sneezing at them.

I'm asking what's the more efficient way to grind for PvP from a low level.

I'm pretty sure there's a leveling guide in the OP but basically the gear for PvP is the same as for anything else and you're just looking to grind as high in levels as you can and to get as much money as you can, both from months of PvE grinding, so you can maybe be competitive some day, but by that point the people stronger than you have gotten even further away from you.

What about gathering, crafting, conversation... There seems to be a lot of shit to do in the starting area (and most isn't even indicated you have to explore every square of terrain). Should I bother at all with them?

My only interest in this game is PvP. Theme park isn't my thing aside from that.

You might need to do gathering for sharp and hard black crystal shards to upgrade your gear with but you could also buy these or the materials you use these shards to make with money you make from grinding mobs. Just grind. Grind, grins, grind.

I only started playing about a month ago. I have a lvl 50 character, but i'm still hopelessly clueless about how i'm meant to proceed, how I'm meant to engage the PVP or how to accomplish anything. Hell, just knowledge on how to obtain some not-auction-house weapons would be nice.

But in my sort of position, where's the best place to go to learn what the hell I'm meant to do next?

Alt + C for PvP, otherwise do literally whatever the fuck you want. That is the point of this game. You can get Kzarka and Dandelion weapons from the bosses Kzarka and Karanda respectively, or the Night Vendor. But you can buy these from the AH too.
