Just got back from a 3 week European vacation. I'm an American but I've always been a European car fan, I was super excited to see old Healys and Triumphs in England, Alfas and Lancias in Italy, and of course the new stuff too like Mclaren, Ferrari, etc. Guess what: NOBODY drives cars like this in Europe. EVERYWHERE I went all I see was shitty little hatchbacks, crossovers, and a "nice" car would be a 3 series diesel. I saw a single cool car in England, a Gallardo... with a plate from the middle east. I've been reading these posts from Europeans on Veeky Forums for years implying everyone there is rich and drives 7 series and S classes, yet driving through a rich area in Germany it was nothing but generic shitboxes. What a joke, I actually came back to the US with an appreciation for ricer teenagers with fartcan Civics, at least they are participating in the hobby in some way. Next time a European poster tries to vaguely imply he has a nice car (looking back it's odd, I've never seen a bread on hood or timestamp of an enthusiast type car from a European poster) remember this thread, chances are he drives a Seat or Skoda or some piece of shit like that.

>Europeans are poor and have no hobbies
No shit. That's what happens when you live in socialism.

The also live in shitty little brick row housing that would be considered federal welfare housing in the US. "Muh brick".

I don't even read European posts. It's basically the third world.

It took you that long to realize the anti-American shitposting was just from jealous, sour grapes eurocucks?

Hey, user, you seemed to have dropped your generalization! Might want to pick it up again.

They're called europoors for a reason.

I've been saying that for years. Just watch Top Gear when they are driving around nicer suburbs in the UK. It is a ton of shitty little silver hatchbacks in the background.

Even if you live in a shitty area in the US, you will see a handful of Mustangs and Camaros when you take a short drive to work.

>I've been reading these posts from Europeans on Veeky Forums for years implying everyone there is rich
No, you didn't.

That's because even Mustangs and Camaros are cheap, disposable shitboxes in the US. The only way Detroit can even stay afloat is by shitting out bargain bin turds for all the poorfags who didn't make it but want to look like they did.

gas prices bruh

same guy
get this, if i buy a NB miata in my country it's a pretty big deal, you legit rarely see more than one a week
never seen a NA in my life

Also no space to pile up old shit. European cars at the end of their European life usually wander to the slav realm or to Africa because it's simply the easier way to handle it. Americans just dump them on a yard in the middle of nowhere until someone digs them back up 40 years later.

Camaros/Mustangs are relatively cheap but nowadays they are serious performance cars. Even the lower spec versions are able to embarrass (or sometimes completely shit on) European cars with twice the price. You can argue about quality but that just means you're looking for a car to use as an appliance or a tool.

>driving in a straight line
>performance

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

In the US you see 10 NA's for every NB, 10 NB's for ever NC, and 10 NC's for every ND.

LOL you been living under a rock? Haven't heard of the new Z06 or ACR?

I don't know why people here want life to be like this. Would prefer a more 'murican life with guns and cars desu.

You should have gone to one of those immigrant, or gypsy neighborhoods, they get all da good cars with their bux.

i used to feel that way too user... but the newer ones are very happy around corners

it scares me that i'm tempted to get the new 10 speed Camaro

Where in the US are there a bunch of NAs?
In Texas I think I've only ever seen a couple of NAs in person, NBs are relatively common, there's a few NCs (and they're even uglier in real life than in the photos), and I have yet to see an ND.

A new M3/M4 isn't better than a new Camaro SS or ATS-V for instance. In most measurable aspects, the GM cars do better.

>this is what passes for an enthusiast car in Europe

>tfw love shit boxes
>tfw anytime I got to Europe I get excited seeing their shit boxes
Spent last summer in France and took pictures of every Twingo I saw...

More performance in a V6 Camaro than your 1.3L diesel 3-doors. And that Camaro might even be painted bright red or yellow and somewhat exciting to look at for the average person.

Most millennials think easter eggs and tiny homes are hip and clever.

I am enthusiastic about this car. In Europe.

Get out of the city.

Why would you take this picture, there's literally nothing exciting about it.

wjbdradio.com/LocalNews/Bond-Set-At--50-000-For-Alma-Man-Charged-With-Criminal-Sexual-Assault

Fuck off rapist.

Because our infrastructure and resource demand would collapse if we all drove around all the time like Americans do. According to my own calculations German roads are already as much frequented as American roads per mile (with fewer lanes) even though we only drive half as much a year as they do. Imagine double the traffic.

Fuck that. I just moved into the city to get away from 1hr rush hours commutes that should only take 15 mins.
City life is great and my business in the city.

aye well, since the economy here collapsed post brexit we've all had to downsize, gone are the Jaaags and the Beauford, to be replaced by this.....

Then don't complain about how city folk are liberals with no desires or motivations.

So you are telling me, that you expected to see nice "enthusiast" cars in public exposed to everyday use? Especially in a EU controlled commie country?

Should have visited a non-EU commie country.

>pic related

>there's literally nothing exciting about it
Because you aren't a yuro

And IIRC, the chick driving that Boxster was so damn fine.

Even I as a car enthusiast am annoyed by how stubbornly obsessed with cars Veeky Forums is.

Cars aren't the solution to all our problems, life can exist without cars, people without cars aren't automatically failures, in fact it's impossible for the entire world to become as car based as the US. They're just a nice hobby to some and a burdening necessity to others, and the US are the global exception in car based infrastructure, not the standard, get over it.

Yuro here, I felt kind of similar about going on vacation to Japan. It was just Toyota shitboxes everywhere.

Anyway I saw a Lancia earlier today so your argument is invalid

I see brand new boxsters all day long.
Why would I be impressed by a first gen shitty boxster that performed literally miata bad? That's a $4k car.

>implying car meets don't exist everywhere

...But it's better.

I just got back from my euro vacation too and I was amazed. The transportation infrastructure is better than the US.
People only drive a car if they absolutely need it.
Even then everyone drives 1.0 liter hatches because that's all a person really needs.
Roads are tight as fuck so everyone is focused on driving not fucking texting or music or makeup or whatever

I did not imply that. I said that not everyone is willing to use his classic or enthuasiast car in everyday use and mostly will just take it for drives on weekends or take it to car meets. Thus i used the picture from a car meet to imply that these car are mostly shown off there.

It's funny you say that because most rural dwellers I know drive easter eggs fuel sippers in an effort to save money on their commutes to work. Which is also ass backwards imo. If you're spending long stints commuting, luxury is the only way to go.

Europe love's their trains, trolleys and bicycle lanes.
In America we love the freedom afforded by having a car, the ability to drive anywhere in the country quickly and efficiently on our sweet interstate freeways. Have fun rubbing up aganist sweaty immigrants and trying to get work done with your transit vans and hatchbacks.
I'll drive wherever I want, whenever I want in my fun to drive car that I take pride in.

Where do posters like this come from? Do you go to Veeky Forums and say
>Why do you cook food? Just go to McDonalds, it's all you need.
>what's the deal with reading books Veeky Forums, you can get all the info you need from TV

I can tell you've either never been to the US, or never been out of the city before.

>driving through a rich area in Germany
what area was that OP?
the thing is people - IF - they have nice cars, only take them out on nice days or special occasions, because if you already have the money for a nice car in germany, you also have the money to own a beater shitbox.
if you actually want to see nice cars, go to the Ring, there's nice stuff there 24/7

I don't know why you think you can't have both. I use the train and my car for different things

2 / 4

>Have fun rubbing up aganist sweaty immigrants and trying to get work done with your transit vans

or we can drive? Also theres nothing wrong with a transit

0 for 2

Have fun being forced to drive an hour each way because you wouldn't even have been able to find work otherwise thanks to urban planning that relies entirely on cars, with a 65 mph general speed limit on roads that are absolutely falling apart. American roads are horrid, you only think they're good because Canadian and Mexican roads are even worse. I can take my car and drive wherever I want in Europe, too, but that doesn't make driving everywhere and planning your settlements around cars a smart thing to do.

And pride doesn't make shitty things better, it only distorts your image of shitty things.

3 / 4

this one's for all my european BMW drivers

Because cars are my hobby. But that doesn't make them the cure for the world, you thick headed fucking moron. I would walk to work if it were closer, and then enjoy my car in my free time.

...

You are correct.

Here in germany everyone drives a hatchback, wagon or SUV.

Drop nukes on NRW.

...

> t. Berlin

but as a RLPler I do agree

nice touch lel
Why didn't you visit f.e.Moscow then? In the west you don't show your wealth like a nigger, while in the east nobody will take your company serious if you drive a VW instead of S-class.

Wagons ARE superior to sedans though. If you care about MUH UPSCALE IMAGE, drive a coupe, not a fucking sedan. Sedans are the most redundant bodystyle in the world.

No, I'm t. Sturmabteilung

>MUH UPSCALE IMAGE
I dont care about this but i like coupes more because they just look better.

The real question is:

Do you know any good sporty coupes a working class person can buy?

Most of the "working class" performance cars are hatchbacks.

Hatchbacks are gay.

Living in Karlsruhe and I see 2-3 Porsches daily.
Also saw this beauty last week

The nearby annual US car meet is on again in early August. This time I'll take a camera to bring back stuff for Veeky Forums. I expect my work colleague with the chipped 580 hp Ram SRT-10 to be there again, too.

AMERICANS NEED A PICKUP FOR THIS

OP is a clueless faggot
youtube.com/watch?v=GmnIsnN2DTI

Cool. Who are you arguing with?
>I DON'T LIKE CARS AS MUCH AS SOME OTHER PEOPLE THAT MAKES ME MAD

Beauty, but it's a kit car

Used market breh.

>I LOOK DOWN ON EVERYONE WHO LIKES CARS LESS THAN ME BECAUSE IN MY MIND I'M ALWAYS RIGHT

"need"

Get to Switzerland sometime, breh.
We also have shitty cars, but also a lot of people driving nice cars.

I couldn't care less whether someone likes cars or not. You are on a car board. Like I said, I don't like cooking, but I wouldn't go to Veeky Forums and tell them they like their hobby too much and cooking shouldn't be a necessity.

By the way being aware that cars aren't an end in itself doesn't have anything to do with liking cars less. I would even argue the opposite. Driving would be ruined and cars would be doomed if everyone had the same view on cars as you do.

Cooking isn't a necessity. You can consume many things raw, including - contrary to American beliefs - meat and milk.

>the same view on cars as you do.
And what view is that?

I NEED TO HAUL HEAVY THINGS LIKE
A CLOSET OR A BARREL OF BEER ONCE A YEAR
I NEED A TRUCK
I
NEED
A
TRUCK!!!!!!!!

That cars can't be criticized apparently, judging by the way you react to people taking a realistic approach to cars.

"need"

Not sure where you came up with that. Only commented that it's very odd behavior to go to a board 100% focused on cars, then telling posters they shouldn't be a necessity and they are too "obsessed" with them (even though nobody said anything like that to begin with, your really just made up an imaginary "view" in the thread to argue against it).

I can't help it, that's what truck owners usually comment on their trucks. No one with a Mustang will say they need a Mustang, but truck owners are extremely quick to come up with reasons for owning a truck. Otherwise this "I NEED A TRUCK" stereotype wouldn't even exist.

that's what they say on Veeky Forums

>economy collapsed
What, for half a day? And you sold your Jag? You're an idiot m8

Someone implied that people not striving for car ownership have no desires or motivation. If that's not obsession I don't know what is.

*drives off in his easter egg to his tiny home*

Some people do need trucks. I need my truck a few times a year typically. The rest of the year I drive it because I like it.

If it was all based on need people would all ride scooters or public transportation to work, and rent a car when it's necessary.

There it is again. If my life goals aren't Fisher Price Detroit barges and glorified plywood warehouses I'm apparently an inferior person.

glad you finally get it

But that's what a lot of people in less car obsessed places do. Take whatever transportation they prefer or view as more useful on a daily basis, rent something when they need it. Why would I drive an expensive to run truck or van every day when I'm only moving once a decade and my bagged lawn trimmings can fit in the back of my hatch?

Because you don't need a hatchback. It's cheaper to rent a car for the day to run those errands than it is to own the car every day and pay insurance and registration on it.

>Less car obsessed places
Like where? Yuro cities have just as bad of traffic problems as some American cities do.

that doesn't look like london m8

Except that I do save ten minutes each way on driving a car to work as opposed to a bicycle, and buses don't run this early.

>Yuro cities have just as bad of traffic problems as some American cities do.
Yeah and guess how much worse it would be if we drove as much as Americans, too. Look at it from the opposite side. Even though American cities are planned around cars, you have traffic problems just as bad as cities that have been built in the middle ages for horse carriages and walking because you drive so insanely much.

Judging from the writing on the banner it's Thailand or closeby.

hi Veeky Forums! cars is stupid, I'd walk if I could
plz respond

daily reminder

Should have come to Switzerland instead of the UK. Everybody knows that taxes in the UK are prohibitively high for most people to own "nice" cars. Here in Switzerland my 136 hp 2.2L Camry is way below the average (new cars sold 2015 did average some 170 hp). M-series BMWs are very common, can't go a day without seeing one... and a sunny sunday is getting rather out of hand in certain areas and the mountain passes.

There's a reason people like to call us mountain jews.

One of my best friends is 38, has never had a drivers license, and lived in SF his whole life. Do I think he is an "inferior person"? No. You know what he doesn't do? Go to auto imageboards and tell people that they should be less obsessed with cars. This is the real divide between Americans and Europeans. Americans drive if they want, or don't if they don't want, and don't care what other people do. Europeans complain about what people in other countries do, tell them they should do it differently, complain about people being passionate about a hobby on a site for people that are passionate about a hobby to discuss it, and then have an inferiority complex if anyone suggests their complaints are unfounded.

is that a syclone or just an s10?

You'd be better off with a scooter or small motorcycle. You don't need a car.

Also most american cities are not planned around cars, most were established many years ago so while the interstate and highway infrastructure have improved there isn't much improvement to be made in the cities themselves.

I just grabbed the first pic off of google. You're right it doesn't look like London. My bad

I'm in Ireland right now on a 3 week vacation. Started in Italy and couldn't believe how shit the cars were. Germany wasn't much better I can't believe I actually believed car culture in Europe was better than america. It honestly may be the biggest letdown yet.

> I saw a single cool car in England, a Gallardo... with a plate from the middle east.

Should've left London. Country bumpkin here, and I see plenty of old MGs, TVRs, Morgans, and Caterhams provided the weather's favourable.

Or you could read the response Ethan. If you were a Yuro, you would be stoked to see that Boxster because it was at least 50,000£ after paying taxes to be allowed a 6cyl engine and a yellow paint job.

Plus I'm on the iPhone so I wasn't even sure what that pic was until I uploaded it. Then I remember I took that pic because the chick driving it was a 12/10.

No clue what this pic is.
