Skoda?

Act

Saturn

No they're rightfully shit

TVR?

Keep telling yourself that

Opel has been complete and utter shit from 1990 to mid 2000, and they still only build ok cars with shit interieur. What are you talking about?

>shit interieur
hello dutchie

The only real bad-side of opel is the rust problem. Apart from that they make good, long-lasting cars with the right price tag. Their design is also god-tier.

they've been impressively shit from the early-mid 90's to the new 2005 generation, afterwards only shit, and they're still not good enough

They make decently priced shitboxes. You get exactly what you paid for - a shitbox. That doesn't make them underrated.
The Astra Coupe is beautiful though.

Opel's give you pleasure twice: once when you buy it, and another time when you sell it.

>defends saturn with a picture of a satyrn sky
>the cousin of the most disappointing convertible in the world
>the pontiac solstice (slowstice)

Jeez, show him a picture of a Ion Redline taking a corner or something

skoda is better

>shit interieur

This was pretty good for a 90s shitbox.

>not buying superior Isuzu diesels instead of ecoturds.

I swear I've seen this saying in another thread, posted by someone from like a third world european country

>rust

No worse than anything from Japan from the same era.

I prefer the Calibra. Most 90s hatches/sedans don`t translate well into coupes.

>tfw no Vectra B coupe tho.

I wouldn't say underrated, even though some of the latest models look pretty good, just average. Like, average at everything. Average styling, average performance, average reliability, average comfort, average equipment, average price.

It's like the "averagest" car brand you can get in Europe.

>This was pretty good for a 90s shitbox.
I was talking about material quality, sorry.

>material quality

Could you be any less specific?

Aside from the shitty imitation wood that starts stripping away on some models its pretty good. There`s not even that much hard plastic on the dash, The seats are kinda meh though.

Squeaking plastic all around, cheap-ass fake chrome on the door handles that peels off after a while...

Pretty cool badge.

I think no ;_;

The memories this car bring are just too much ;_;

>GM shit
they are still better than the GM's they are based on, but still it's GM shit.

I think it looks fucking great for what it is

Fuck you, the Insignia is GOAT Opel

>tfw no Insignia OPC hatch

>the Insignia is GOAT Opel
But at the end of the days it's just that. An Opel.

>But at the end of the day a good car is just that, a good car.

Fixed

vectra b are my guilty pleasures

>hatch
are you some sort of a faggot with a fetish for inferior handling?

Meanwhile in Japan

I just prefer the looks over the sedan or the wagon.

>inferior handling

...

...

>"but it is just a 20 year old riced Omega", said the driver of a new BMW 5 series. And then, the BMW slowly dissapeared in the mirror of the Omega...
>b-but it's just an Opel, not?

>it's just an Opel
>just an Opel

Saturn used to be great, until those fuckers from GM shut down Spring Hills plant and turned Saturn into another boring car brand

and Skoda during the commie days was making handsome rear-engined rwd coupes

It's a lotus you mong

>Insignia hatch
you mean the Signum?

that's vectra c, not insignia

Those things were pretty neato, too bad they all ended up like pic related. Same thing with Datsuns around here.

no
vectra is astra

>Lotus

Nigga, the only thing by Lotus is the handling.

Not even the same person, and that is not a Lotus Omega's engine you retard...
This is how it looks like

then who was opel

That`s a Chevy, bro

mate, that picture is from an Isuzu

Lotus stiffened the chassis
Modified the engine
Redesigned the suspension
Put in a new gearbox
put in a new diff and other driveline parts
Reduced the weight
Redid the aerodynamics with a new bodykit

basically, they remade a shitty Carlton 3000GSi into an actually good car

>vectra is astra

First picture is of a Lotus Carlton you retard, the poster obviously put a picture of a different engine so that the word Lotus wasn't everywhere

Can we take a moment to appreciate the most beautiful Opel to have ever existed?

>implying that and are the same person

Please stop now...

>Put in a new gearbox

From a Corvette.

Does that make it a Corvette now?

Breh...

well post it then

step aside

Too curvy

Too boxy

this looks horrible to handle

>this will never a be a thing

Why even live?

...

hai guize, you liek my opel ?

...

One of the prototypes had this dash.

Would only fug from the rear desu.

I like the Opel Speedster

that's actually a Lotus

This is just wrong.

the rear is pretty sexy too

>suicide vehicle

I like it, oldschool yellow headlights I see, very french thing.

youtube.com/watch?v=FxrWTZjtCXo

mantas never had yellow headlights, just yellow bulbs. i just took advantage of the french rules and put lamin-X on stock headlights, and i think it looks pretty good

Muh diqq has ascended to another dimension.

opels are pretty good in taking a beating

Kadett GSi had a nice dash too.

Mantas have a horrible reputation in Germany.
You guys probably know this already, but I'll just post a link for anyone who is interested.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manta_joke

holy fuck I never knew this was a thing

Can you explain a bit more or give context?

Do many people know of this? Is it common in every day life?

I always wanted to see that movie.

There was a german movie in the 90s(?) that portrayed manta drivers as low class pleb retards, and it ruined the car's image forever. Its a pretty funny movie, though.

Shame really, it was a competitor to the Capri and was objectively the better car but somehow acquired the most unfortunate stigma.

Renault, if any

and with good reason, in both cases. only ok-tier opels are the ones with Isuzu engines. the rest are well below shit quality.

Hell yes, they did. Opel encompassed all that was good about german cars. The first car I ever really drove when I was getting my license, was a kadett c 1,2 s model. (dat rwd)

>have
had, maybe. they are now viewed at as nice classics

Why do people with Opels drive fast?
To outrun the rust.

I get it now

The Capri in england has it's own reputation of being the car of someone who owns a cheap leather jacket

I don't even live in Germany, and I know about it.
I guess it's probably not a common thing anymore, because Mantas haven't been produced for almost three decades. But in the early nineties I think their bad reputation had been established and manta jokes were commonplace.
In 2008 there was a bit of talk about a conspiracy theory that Porsche had invented the manta joke to ruin the car's image.
Here is a commercial where a manta driver uses diesel instead of gasoline.
youtube.com/watch?v=UPwCndAX6m8
They really did have a horrible reputation.
I have a personal theory that Opel in general is slightly looked down upon in Germany because it is a foreign-owned German brand, and has been pretty much since the end of WWII.

youtu.be/fYjKkRT7iNg
Its 90s german coupe porn.

Yes the Manta in the UK was almost considered exotic (and the Opel badge was seen as a lot cooler than the Vauxhall one), and never suffered from the dubious image it did in Germany.

I never knew they had bogans in Germany

I remember when Opel was good

Bogans are basically Australian rednecks right? damn, suddenly i want to own an Opel Manta in Germany.

Ayy lmao

Wasnt the Manta replaced by the Calibra as the official dooshmobile? Too bad its almost impossible to find a clean, unmolested one now.

the seat are squeaking
but the fake chrome hold quite well my car has 222 K km and they are fine

Most Calibras around where I live are surprisingly clean, but they're all FWD and mostly 4 cylinder.

>tfw you will never go for a speed record attempt at Bonneville or a standing mile event with an LS swapped Calibra with its mindblowing low drag coefficient even in stock form

From the mid 80s to the mid 90s they had a good run of pretty solid cars with modern, well engineered technology, they almost VW in the german market
They had the Senator with the based straight six, C20XE engines and the AWD/Turbo Calibras and Vectras, Lotus Omegas..

Then GM costcutting kicked in. The straight six was abandoned, build quality went to shit and Opel was forced to sell US models on the european market which ended in disaster

Now they're back to average at everything, but you have to remember that they went from VW rival to almost gone thanks to mismanagement by GM

>USDM cars in europe = low safety standarts, low build quality and efficienc eg Opel Sintra, Chrysler Voyager, Neon

>EUDM cars in the US = too expensive and to small in relation, basemodel engines underpowered for US customers, higher maintenance cost eg Cadillac Catera, Ford Contour or VW passat

Oh and Insignia OPCs are shite unless you don't like handling or don't mind replacing rear diffs from time to time

Skoda WAS something in the soviet era, now it's just shit.

It's top brand in Europe...

I don't know, I saw rusty Astra models and whatnot, but those cars are old as hell. And they just sit outside all year long. So I don't know. If I left my Ford outside for a few months, it would have more rust than those Opel cars.
