About how much does it cost on average to switch a car from an automatic transmission to a manual?

About how much does it cost on average to switch a car from an automatic transmission to a manual?

Specifically for something like a crown vic or grand marquis?

>goes through the entire process of converting the car to a manual transmission
>>leaves the fucking column shifter on
0/10

DIY: the cost of the transmission
Having it done: the last shred of your dignity. Because you'll be laughed out of the shop. Or ripped off like a jail's worth of buttrape.

>turns an automatic to a manual
>its just a daily drive car

are you doing the work yourself?

it cost me 1.5-2k$ to do my audi. but I had to import a lot of shit from germany and make what I couldnt find. Transmission was 900 alone

Anywhere from $900 to $2000 DIY

$5k + if you take it to a shop to have it done

I converted my escort ZX2 for around $950 and some change but it made it a lot more fun to drive and I'm averaging 3-4 mpg higher on average.

don't

like its a terrible idea and it's a ton of work and it's a ton of money

Probably using it as a hand brake bruh

wat

how the fuck do you figure that

That way he can still put it in Park when parked.

Could be to fool the electronics since most autos only start in park or neutral.

that makes sense, but why not at least chop the shifter off?

Honestly cheaper to find the car in manual assuming it ever came that way no matter how rare.

none of them came with a manual

Are you retarded

>specifically for something like a crown vic or grand marquis?
Those cars never came in manual, they don't have any provisions for bolting up a clutch pedal or anything like that.
You'll be doing a lot of custom fabrication and stuff, it's gonna be so fucking expensive.

actually he could have got rid of it. just use the trim parts from the marauder

Oh boy

I bought my manual zx2 escort for 250$

O.o

The Crown Vic LX Sport also came with a console shifter.

I swapped my S14 to manual over a couple weekends and it was pretty straightforward although people have written up guides with pictures which helped a lot. Cost around 1500.
Expect to pay a lot more if the car didn't come with a manual option

What makes you say that

>O.o

WHAT YEAR IS IT

damn those must be rare.
sounds like its better to get one of them

He can just bypass the park/neutral safety switch with a little wiring.

But that would not do anything

i have toyota sera i want to manual
how much !! (^.^)

Turn your trip back on CVPI you pathetic fuck

Fukku me senpai

It's an extra measure of safety. Why not keep it?

The parking pawl that stops the car is inside the auto trans that the guy ripped out. P won't work any more than D after the swap.

Enough that it's easier just to buy a new car.

It really shouldnt be terribly expensive.

I imagine you can source many of your parts from mustangs. You will have to cut a relatively precise hole in your floor board. The clutch pedal should be bretty easy with a cable. You will need to modify the wiring harness just a bit. You may have to source a driveshaft. Avoid a late model project car though because they generally have tecus which will stop you dead in your tracks.

a lot of ppl diy it using mustang parts. Not that hard, really. Would only be expensive at a shop...

$500 for the trans, bellhousing, resurfaced flywheel, new clutch, clutch fork, etc... ~$200 in misc. parts (new cable, quadrant, firewall spacer, shifter, boot...)

This

Or

Thousands of dollars if you would like a numbernumber (sort of)

Lol wut

Youre retarded if you don't understand why that wouldn't work

God when will summer end

WAIT, WAIT, WAIT, REALLY DUDE?

Plus if you want a full-size sedan with a manual transmission (I don't want to know why), look up "Iraqi Taxi".

people convert smg m3's to manual. not sure on the cost though

did one in a 95 caprice cost almost 4k for evey thing i used a t56 from a GTO
