The American market Merkur XR4Ti was equivalent to the European market Ford Sierra XR4Ti. Europe also had models below and above it. Yes the 3-door (like in the pic) Cosworth was built for touring car racing.
The 4x4 system came later in the sapphire when they needed something for rallying after Group B ended.
There are some differences in engines through the years but it's basically the same yes.

Eventually, the copolymer plastic will chemically degrade due to the heat. Once that happens it will begin to melt. That's what deceives so many of these people who put exhausts too close to the plastic. They don't see anything melting the first day so they leave it on. But the copolymer for bumpers isn't like your normal plastic bottle or other plastics you have in the house. It has to meet DOT heat tests so that is why it doesn't melt right away. But over time, it degrades. Once it degrades enough, then it will melt. That's if it's real DOT approved copolymer and not chinese plastic which is probably good plastic into which they threw scrap and recycle plastic as filler to increase profit.

Unburnt gas in the exhaust m8, could be due to a failing spark plug, shitty timing, or running a little too rich. The excess gets ignited by the super hot exhaust system and leaves the car as a dramatic flame show out the back and is normally accompanied by a loud noise.

How does it ignite? Is the exhaust that hot? Or is it burning all the way to the exhaust tip, just in a controlled manner till it hits air?
