You can only transform using transformable EX skills, a purple running man icon, like NT-D, Transarm, EXAM system, Voiture Lumiere, etc.

When you equip a blade that double as rifle you can equip the the blade in rifle tab to make the rifle fireable in combat, same with shields.

It's much closer to your standard JRPG than a proper Dungeon Crawler.

EV's fine if you liked SV (in fact, I think it's the better game personally) but digitally it's a sizable game with a HUGE patch. Like, about half the size of the game huge. Expect to be set back around 5GB if you do go for it.
