Murrika problems I guess. Enjoy your stone age Peedurbills.

It is all old tech.

The only hard part is getting the cash and political will to built the infrastructure.

Once you have major routes between cities and ports electrified. The trucking companies will start adopting trucks that can use it.

oh my god why dont we use this even more ancient more efficient fucking technology called trains

>Try to merge onto freeway
>Can't because of a solid wall of trucks in the electric lane

How does one get products from the factory to the train?

the overhead lines are for main routes and long distances.

the trucks would all have battery packs or diesel hybrids.

they run on overhead electricity when cruising to destination. then use internal power to finish the delivery or get from the distribution point to the overhead lines.

Because trains don't actually reach destinations and require further cargo distribution among - you guessed it - trucks.

Also the cheapest highspeed rail routes cost as much to build per distance unit as the most expensive highway routes, and it's probably a similar story with upkeep.

It would be interesting to see rural interstate highways electrified.

But high speed rail is twice as fast as the freeway.

And planes are three times as fast as your high speed rail example.

because the US ripped up so much of its freight network when trucks became a thing that it's impossible to do anything about it now

Not around here it isn't.

>few years back living in different city for university
>high speed rail takes as long as car ride because of transfer and costs twice as much
>local rail costs as much as car ride and takes twice as long

And planes are too costly to deliver any cargo unless we're talking about post mail which shifts its costs to the user, or the US military blowing billions of dollars up their own asses so their crap can arrive in some god forsaken desert a little earlier than on a ship.

getting something from the USA to Kuwait by ship takes over a month.

getting it there by heavy cargo airplanes takes 2-3 days.

And what are you gonna do with it in Kuwait other than crash it into a sand dune three weeks earlier?

the train tracks run through the factory ya dingus

we would need a lot more rail embedded in the roads.

That's the worst fucking bullshit in the world, especially since you can hear the train horns for miles through the neighborhood.

no no im talking about real life, right now, train tracks run through factories and already have rail lines to go wherever they need to

You're thinking of huge industrial plants where they produce bulk in railroad car dimensions. The average factory does not have that.

im sure it depends where you live, where I'm at we have a general mills, adm, quaker oats, various meat packing plants, all with massive railroad systems

people who live in dense metro ghetto hell dont understand much about trains.
high speed rail requires very well maintained tracks. slower trains are fine on shitty tracks but the slight variations in the track at higher speeds can derail the train. it costs a lot of money to maintain rail. not everyone can use the railway. actually only the rail company can use it. the advantage to highways is that they're multi purpose and anyone can get on and off at any time.

Trolley buses are old news. But they work well, and it's reasonable to introduce the principle on a larger scale.

>Goes to burger

This is a bus that I want to ride on

This a bus that goes to burger
This one actually looks like a burger

wtf europe?
