How much to buy and swap in a 4age, any gen, into a corolla

How much to buy and swap in a 4age, any gen, into a corolla
Either e90 or gen after sedan

I just want cheap fun and corolla aren't as rice taxed as civics

I've heard rumors of people replacing efi of 4age with carbs? Somehow better it's a common mod I think

Legitimate corolla thread / fwd tuner thread

>I've heard rumors of people replacing efi of 4age with carbs?
That's a meme. Why would you want that anyway?

Just curious about it.

As someone who has driven or owned a lot of the meme street cars Veeky Forums fawns over. Im fucking sick of it.
I'm sick of the car crowd I'm sick of these cars and the people who think they're better because of it, meanwhile they'd probably flip a go kart.

I just want this corolla project that I can throw around
There's probably no aftermarket for them aside from engines. I guess civics are famous for a reason

You really just need the head, ecu, and wiring.
The bottom end works fine assuming its a 4A.
If its a 7A then you need a porsche timing belt.
Or you can do the whole engine.
If you go that route then go silver 20v.
Then you get ITBs like you wanted and some more power.

>There's probably no aftermarket
Theres tons. They share many parts with mr2s, like suspension bits.

Why not black top?

Also I found a beat up 80 series base model fx hatch with what I think is a 4a c
Worth looking at?

just buy a geo prism gsi, it is a corolla sedan with a 4age and five sped. If you want to go older try and find a chevrolet nova twin cam.

Not OP.
But they are way ugly. And have worse build quality.

>just buy this rare car I don't understand
>the only thing that matters in a car is its engine right

Base FX is rough to swap. Trust me i almost did it.
Not worth the expense.
Black top isnt worth the expense either.

honda is a better fwd platform in every way

Did 1991 e90 sedans have p/s, abs, ?

Nope
Corolla always on top

Ps yes. Abs no

Silver tops are expensive as hell user
What about your suspension and lsd bro
Miatuh

$750 is expensive?
Lsd can be had.
Suspension is easy

>750
LOL no
My b series was 1k+
Unless you just want a used up block with no ecu or wiring

>only 160hp
Pathetic, and it's heavy too

No double wishbone

>honda is a better fwd platform in every way

Agreed. If you're building a fwd toyota you're doing it wrong.

Tard

You mean the car that post to the Hondas in all the motor ft vids and was never featured once by any tuner shop in the tough challenges

Tard

Still lost? So I don't see why

it's a toyota sedan with a different badge built at the same nummi plant the us corollas were. they are uncommon but a better option than a noob attempting a swap on a fuel injected vehicle.
all cars that old are fucked or the good ones at this point.

Where are you importing silver tops for that much

RARE
AS
FUCK
>just never engine swap man
Wow

Is that a levin? That cute I've had two rwd levins. If you're doing up a fwd levin you have fucked up somewhere.

Tard

who cares about ff cars

r8 my 91 prizm Veeky Forums. its stuck right now waiting on a new tranny and i eventually wanna swap a silvertop into it.

not gonna happen
just get a rwd car

>4age swaps
why
id rather engineer a honda engine into my toyota
4ages are heavy and make no power

go gze

>corolla
>4age
>FF
>swapping EFI for carbs
Are you the same guy who didn't understand why a 4age in a motorcycle is a shockingly bad idea?

Is a silver top swap into a 5th gen celica possible?

asking Veeky Forums was your first mistake
there are plenty of resources online for this, americans don't know anything about corollas

personally however, i think you should just buy a primera/G20 if you can find one

this is b8

Yes but kind of pointless. just get a beams 3S out of a rav4 or something

it's pointless?
god man....

yes it is. especially since they were available with a 3SFE/GE and swapping for a better 3SGE would be less of a headache than a 20v

>putting a smaller engine in your car

but its a 4age....

b-but it'd be lighter! and it takes boost better! and it revs high!

never heard of or seen one with a 4A
those have to be stupid rare if it even exists

Its not even good in a " silver tops are cheap as hell " way?

I guess I've always been a fan of weird swaps.

20vs are overpriced. a beams is better and likely cheaper
i like weird swaps but i don't see any advantage to a 20v in a celica compared to what's already available

theres a reason this guys name is type r
building a toyota is worthless
celicas are heavy as fuck especially 5th gen

you idiots are just thinking of engines and not everything else that goes into a build which is more important

OP stop trying to be an Veeky Forums hipster and having a "tuned fwd corolla with 4age carbs" You are literally going to take one of the slowest and most boring cars known to man, and going to make it slower.

>20v
>takes boost better

you need an uprated motor for a 20v to take boost
3SGTEs are cheaper and already built for boost

m8. i'm west indian. we invented fast corollas

But I'm not doing carbs?
This is b8

where u from m8

Take it from someone who's building a silvertop 20V for an AE86, just get a 3S-GE mane. No replacement for displacement, and they're pretty much as easy to engineer as a 20V 4A-G anyway.

A lot of people replace EFI with carbs on a 16V 4A-G because EFI ITB's might be a little out of their reach to tune and install properly. Solex carbs, Mikunis, or Webers give an engine ITB's and a fantastic sound without having to do all the wiring and ECU back end of things. Might make a little bit more power with them but you sacrifice so much in terms of them being suitable in all seasons and weather.

>all seasons in weather
what if theres only one season/weather, and its summer

Eh. No huge loss I guess.

I love old school 4A-G powered cars, always pretty cool what the Japs did with them back in the eighties and nineties... but I really don't see the point in putting carbs on a factory EFI engine unless you're a cheap cunt and refuse to spend $1000 on a basic ECU.

Could get a set of blacktop ITB's, filters, and an entry level ECU for less than $2000 and make more power and remain more reliable than the guy who went the cheap route with carbs.

Yeah but thats because you're RWD and the carb guy is a FWD cuck
