Dieselgage will kill VW

>dieselgage will kill VW

VW sold more cars than Toyota in the first half of 2016. Why is Veeky Forums so terribly retarded?

Nice source

in truth Veeky Forums had one of the more restrained reactions to dieselgate. You had people in the automotive press screaming about how this would be the end of VW in America, that they'd have to pull out for a decade/never sell diesel cars here again/VW values would tank

Nobody in North America gives a flying fuck about fucking dieselgate. If anything they'll sell more because a lot of people are proud about their high pollution levels.

>VW sold more cars than Toyota in the first half of 2016
VW sold more cars 「and light trucks」 than Toyota sold cars and light trucks. VW has a stranglehold on the light truck market in Europe and China, selling many times more light trucks than Toyota does, and considering their light trucks are powered, usually, by diesel engines...

Germany-based "research center" fudging the numbers for Hitler's car company.

I bought a TDI because I'm proud of getting 45mpg and emitting less CO2 than a gasoline engine, all while having a bunch of fun torque.

These cars aren't nearly as dirty as people think, the EPA is just being a bunch of bitches.

This.

Nobody fucking cares about the EPA.

Epa rates emmissipna by gallon, not mile. Cucks.

VW is crap and expensive to repair why would people buy them in the US

Toyota is fucking cancer even stupid people that take 15 years to notice changes in the organization are finally coming around to Toyotas defective shittiness.

Parts are cheap. As a rwd/bmw guy, i dont understand the vw scene at all

This. The United People's Socialist Caliphate of Europa cares because a majority of them are cucked into driving diesel shitboxes due to bullshit taxes. For those poor damn enthusiasts who can't afford their hobby, bad pollution ratings takes away the one excuse they tell themselves to feel better about their shit car. For the typical citizens who care more about the environment than about driving, the bad ratings go directly against the propaganda they've been feed. Thus, everyone threw an absolute shitfit.

To all Veeky Forumstists stuck behind enemy lines in the quarantine zone designated Europe:

Sorry, m8

Do A Skid Uleh,

Veeky Forums

>Euro diesel enthusiasts may now proceed to laugh at this post

I don't understand why you haven't killed yourself

Toyota makes top notch appliances

A gold medal to any man who can make an '03 or newer corolla actually fast (for FWD)

>muh XRS
>muh celica
still slow econoboxes, basically fancy corollas (in the case of the XRS, literally)

Co2 isn't a big deal, nitrous oxide emissions are a big deal.

Especially for consumer vehicles which make up

Most of the people who buy Toyotas, like myself, because they are long lasting, dependable econoboxes, not for speed. If I want to go fast I'll jump on my Kawasaki.

CO2 is not the problem. Diesel is actually fucking disgusting and emits a huge amount of cancerous compounds, along with nitrogen oxides. That, and particulate matter, which is microscopic and gets lodged inside your lungs.

Gasoline engines with all the current emission equipments are actually pretty clean. A proper functioning engine at optimal temperature will only release water, nitrogen (78% of the atmosphere) and CO2 through the exhaust.

Your case is stupid common.

I think what happens is people new to car buy slow econoboxes because they're cheap and supposedly reliable, and are then no longer in the financial situation to pay for, maintain, and insure a fast car or a good tuner car in addition to their current econobox and too used to having a reliable DD to replace it, so they get a cheap summer toy instead of that skyline they always wanted.

Maybe its because insuring my bike is dirt cheap and will be faster than 99% of your tuner cars. If I had something like a Skyline, the last thing I would do with it is winter drive it .

How the fuck are they long lasting when every toyoda that is >10 years old is full of rust and the interior is shit?

I'm sure your trolling but ill bite anyway. Maybe it has to do with how the owner took care of the car. Maybe? Could Be?

Cheap and fast, but a completely different driving experience. Controlling a twitchy motorbike with your body mass and operating a large machine that isolates you from most of your surroundings yet could still crush and/or impale you are two radically diverging types of thrill in the "going fast" category.

The engines and drivetrains live on

Yeah and it would take 40 TDIs to equal the emissions of one school bus.

Think about how many tractor trailers there are on the highways every single day. And yet a couple hundred thousand fuel efficient TDIs on the road are the problem? Those little VWs are what's causing smog? Give me a break.

Have fun contributing to global warming with your CO2 while my smog particulates and nitrogen oxides are comparatively doing nothing.

School buses are on the roads for a fraction of the day in a fraction of the numbers carrying a much smaller number of passengers. There's a reason why diesel heavy cities have had to start making days where cars alternate on being allowed in, individual cars do add up. Plus the fact that you have to stand against manufacturers breaking the rules on whatever number of vehicles so every manufacturer doesn't do it on every vehicle.
