When does it make sense to buy a diesel truck over a gas engine truck

When does it make sense to buy a diesel truck over a gas engine truck.

you tow over 3000 lbs weekly or more.
literally no other time.

When it's a company vehicle and you don't pay for maintenance
God tier mileage but drives like shit

...

I was wondering this same thing today. I was looking at the Chevy Colorado and it has a diesel option . MPG is supposedly higher which makes my nipples stiff but I'm not sure if it would be worth it in the long run. I'm not too familiar with diesel engines and I'd hate to get a diesel truck just to find out that it fucking sucks to repair or has a shit ride.

if it was possible to roll coal in gas trucks no

Lots of power and actually use a truck as a truck? Diesel, cummins are pretty sweet engines
Drive around town and take your wife's son jimothy fishing while towing a tiny boat? Gas

OP here, when does it make sense to buy a diesel car over a gas powered car?

only if you live in yurop

If you're buying an 80's Benz or live in Euroland.

Its cheaper, easier, and better for everyone if you pour some gas on the truck and burn it to the ground if you need it for "rolling coal"

When you want to tow thing
Or you just want a v10 and two turbos in an SUV

a lawn tractor with the right gearing could tow that

toe

Always because torks is king.
Petrol engines only make sense in performance cars.
And Civics, Miatas, etc aren't performance cars.

My Honda can do that

When you aren't a 'tard.

In 2006

When you own a business and can write off the repairs and gas and drive lots of highway miles

Or for people who want a proper engine

When you own enough diesel equipment to have a job-site tank filled with off-road diesel.

>no tax
>less than $2/gal in bulk
>can write off as a business expense

Diesels are torque monsters at relatively low HP

Which translates to a lot of driving fun at low RPM

Is it as good as a turbo charged straight six, no

Is it better than a turbo charged straight four, hell yes

Fuck those econoboxes

t. straight five diesel

they are loud

Modern ones aren't

In Europe you buy diesels for the mpg's

But it only works well if you drive more than 20 kilometers each way on your commute + you need long, hard drives on the highways to clear out soot + you probably need to add some kind of additive once in a while, either to the fuel or to the engine,

Volkswagen have a legendary 1,9TDI engine that is basically the greatest engine they ever made, at least the most stable and surviveable

still louder than a petrol engine of the same size

Babymaxs are dope

How to get fucked by dot, a novel written by user

Bullshit. If you're using the truck for enthusiast activities, a diesel may also be acceptible. An expeditionary vehicle for long stretches of off road driving may also be best in a Diesel.

it's fine for off road thanks to the torque and shit

- gas cuck

chevys have pretty reliable gas v8s as it is but the duramax should outlast it assuming chevy didnt fuck the new duramaxs up

I tow over 3000lbs weekly with my gas car, fag.

>Hot rod garage
yus

Petrol costs $1.90 a litre here, roughly 5 usd/gallon

pic related, it's the national land transport authority

Oh no, a slightly louder and actually quite enjoyable purr.

Better mpg than the 2.5, better towing than the 3.6? If I towed it would be worth it.
My 2.5 does a 16.5 quarter mile. idk of the diesel will be that fast.

turkey?
UK?

New Zealand, at least we don't have expensive insurance like UK

TXDPS dips tanks pretty much every day here and we are in bumfuck nowhere.

If you're not a poser.

thanks for the awesome brewed chilli sauce ai

Having owned both, trucks were a year apart, one with a 460 and one with a 420
>Gas
Higher redline
More power
But, lol 10mpg highway
>Diesel
17mpg highway
Could run off of filtered waste oils
More mechanical, literally no computer
Heavier duty parts
But, stuff is more spendy for it

These are for 80s Fords btw

a 6.9 on headers sounds so good

Got any vids?
