Truth

Note back to ultimate types of bikes. Aka touring machines

back in the days, when Europeans were still here, there was at least one good dbt per day.

There's a significantly higher power loss in shaft drive when compared to chain drive. Any time torque changes its axis, you generally lose a lot of it. I think chain drive enacts something like a 5% loss, and shaft drive is somewhere around twice that much. Plus it's more expensive.

Chain drive:
>less expensive
>less power loss
>easier to manufacture
>easier to manipulate, like if you swap your front sprocket
>easier to fix if it breaks
>lighter
>maintenance is harder but really still not hard at all

Shaft drive can also cant the bike around the axis of travel when under high power output. People say it's noticeable, but not really a problem. Shaft drive is perfect for cars, and makes a good bit of sense in bikes, but kind of falls flat in practice.

>well why aren't we chain driving cars then?
That's a fantastic question. My guess is that the higher torque required to move a car isn't practical to transmit with a chain. Aren't some car CVTs chain-based?

It's mostly engine braking but they might keep their foot on the peg longer for those turns. I'll try to find a good video some racers braking into a right turn for analysis

>tfw denver /dbt/ meat up tomorrow
hype

>ppl actually believe this

Hey guys do you think a 600cc is too much for a first bike? I feel like a "superbike" or whatever seems like a big commitment for a first bike, but friends have recommended a gsxr600 multiple times... Any opinions?

...

nobike ;)

nah i'd recommend a honduh though, they're super slow so they are very easy for a beginner to handle.

Is there anyone in dbt that does any real touring?
I don't frequent here to often :/

Fuck off satan

I like you

...

I did

see u 2moro bb ;)

Dj frogster - I'm lookin' at u

Congrats. Most well written shitpost of the thread

Sorry, I have autism... Is this sarcasm or...?

>not a touring bike
I doubt your going cross country on that

Oakland but i think he died. Also bananapete. Now pls fuck off cruisercuck.

You'll be fine on anything under 800

Don't listen to this guy he's a nobike and his input is moot

I did this, and tons of rides across the pnw

>implying you need a touring bike to tour

Do you guys drive at night much? I feel like it's a good way to commit suicide by deer on a back highway, but it's so much fun, especially when there's a thunderstorm rolling in and you get a light show.

She is nobike m8

Just skip to the gixxer1000 so that you dont get bored in a week.

Thanks man, I really appreciate it! Is the CBR600 any good? Or would you recommend the gixxer600 over it? Those are the main bikes I'm interested in at the moment... Thanks again :^)

Honda a shit

literally the least hp of the 600s. so no, it's not

>accusing me of being a "cruiser cuck" for posting touring bikes
Well, Alrighty

But I'm talking about touring bikes. Soooo

Look man, H2R cuz anything less is just pissing around

Gixur a shit. The other sport bikes are fine. You're really just looking to learn and not flip it.

I don't think I'll be bored too quick. I'll be in school as a nuclear engineer for the Navy, so I won't be using it for too much other than going around town and occasionally commuting home a few hundred miles

Get a busa and stop being a little bitch.

...

>does anyone do any real touring
>but I am talking about touring bikes
you don't need a touring bike to tour bruv

>I'll be in school as a nuclear engineer for the Navy,
>so I won't be using it for too much other than going around town and occasionally commuting home a few hundred miles

That sounds boring as fuck

Touring bike guy, you're alright.
Longest ever tour was last year's SEM for me, 2100 km in 4 days on a CB 500. Only been riding for around 1 1/2 years.

>commuting home a few hundred miles
Maico 800

> 200 km
That's not a tour you nobike cuck, it's literally not even a day trip. It's about as much as I ride for fun in the evening after work.
