This aint /gsg/

theres barely any shitposting in this gen desu

Did early access Endless Legend have multiplayer? I'm wondering if ES2 will have it in early access.

There is barely any posting ;_; We will soon join city builder general and /egg/ in eternal ded

/civ4xg/ has died countless times, stellaris was what brought this general back. This general will probably die again a few months after Civ VI comes out.

/strat/ when?

soon I hope
I wanna talk about Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes

>Tfw the days of /rtsg/ and /mowg/ are over
I miss the steam group ;_;

We did this back then:

>This general will probably die again a few months after Civ VI comes out.

More like a year.

t. eternal optimist

Stupid question, but do mods (like UI ones) disable achievements? I'm thinking they do.

I see literally no reason for all strategy games small enough to not sustain their own general to not be in a combined general. I mean there is already RTS talk in /civ4xg/. Allowing /cbg/ /rtsg/, /mowg/, /wgg/ etc could help save the thread

If you're talking about civ, EUI does not disable achievements, but most other mods will.

Is the plantoid DLC ripped anywhere? I can't find it

I'm trying to succesfully complete an Immortal game for the first time in Civ 5. I'm going for Domination because it's said that's the easiest victory condition.

I usually manage to rush some nearby enemies pretty quickly, taking one or sometimes even two capitals (I tried it with Ashurbipal/Assyria and Atilla/Huns). The problem is that after this rush, I usually get fucked one way or another because my happiness and gold run out, and then everyone else decides to declare war on me for being a warmonger.

How do I manage my gold and happiness? Or am I better off turtling up first and becoming a warmonger later? That would mean wasting the early game (very powerful) unique units some civs get though.

It's usually safer to turtle up first. But if early wars work for you, try taking fewer cities.

Thanks senpai.

youtube.com/watch?v=ErUJsF1vJ9k

I just started a war with Byzantium and it hit me: their war theme sounds pretty Star Warsy. I'm not the only one who hears it, right? Pretty good though.

Don't warmonger early if you're not going to take some good cities (like cities with more than 1 lux).

With Attila you probably want to devour your neighbour with Horse Archers and then sit back for a while.

Some more stellaris memes whilst we wait for more civ news.

So FilthyRobot apparently has access to a pre-release build of Civ VI as of wednesday and thinks the NDA will be lifted as of friday, so we should have some genuine close-to-finished footage of the game soon.

No doubt other streamers/youtubers have the same thing but get hype niggas, we content now.

If you gotta launch the mod through the ingame mod launcher then it disables them, if you don't have to then it doesn't. NQmod doesn't disable them for example, even though it reworks the balance entirely. And removes Venice from the game.

>heil-ein

Thx user, this is useful for those of us who have offended Swedish sensibilities once too often.

I can hear occasional snatches that wouldn't be out of place in Star Wars, but that might just be confirmation bias.

/gsg/ was basically /strat/ till everyone left because autists who played paradox games were shitting up the general with shitposts.

Never underestimate the power of autism.

Only the most hardened autists AKA people who play Paradox games could survive all that shitposting.

People are protective of their niche. I can kind of understand it. I wouldn't want to see see the shitty DF-lite games in the Dwarf Fortress general myself.

ded thred

ded game

>tfw just realised how one can merge multiple expeditions into one in Thea

While the split option has a dedicated button, this one is way less intuitive.

>/gsg/ was consumed by shtiposting war so much that the faggots reported the Megaupload file with all the games and mods and the guy who maintained gave up
Fucking weebs.

So in other words, civs that get early unique units are pretty shit? Yeah, I kind of expected that. Medieval-Renaissance is probably the best area for unique units, as it gives you the most bang for your buck.

Unique archers are especially shit. Not only do they come too early to be useful, but Composite Bowmen make them almost instantly obsolete. And there are no CB replacing uniques.

>So in other words, civs that get early unique units are pretty shit
It's shit for the player because they can't spam units at this point, unlike AI.

Early unique units have the issue that they have a short window in which they're good, but against a high level ai, you'll be trying to catch up and breeze right past that window.

>13550% effectiveness

>soviet dude smiling with tigers burning in the background.exe.jpg

Yeah, thought so. Thanks.
I'll try an immortal domination victory again with Germany then. Turtle up until the industrial era, then start conquering with the help of Autocracy policies and pump out panzers to wreck faces.

Two features (big or small) that you're most excited about in Civ 6, /civ4xg/?

For me it's the ability to levy city state armies and harvesting resources. Also the new strategic view looks like it might actually be useful.

BUT THE GAME IS STILL A MONTH AWAY FOR US PLEBS

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

>tfw can't get hyped for anything
It feels e-empty

The best feature of Civ6 is early access on a 60 bux game.

I'm confused. Can you only build one of each district per city, or multiple? What happens if you have two holy sites in one city? Can you build two shrines/temples?

pretty sure you can build multiple districts of the same type except wonders and they all have requirements (like holy sites cant be adjacent to other holy sites

Neat.

I'm looking forward to having to fight through districts to take a city, get a stalingrad thing going.

>tfw still no Red Light District in the base game

Firaxis must have kept it those who pre-ordered.

The reason is simple.

Does anyone else, instead of trying to win multiplayer matches, just solely concentrate on fucking with people and forwarding a particular self-made objective?

I play semi-long matches with friends pretty regularly, and occasionally instead of actually trying to win the only thing I do is play as Arabia and do nothing but rush Islam and spread it as far as possible, especially funny against one guy who refuses to ally with civs that are Islamic and gets EXTREMELY FRUSTRATED when he has lots of muslims in his civ.

do you roleplay in voice/chat?

like preaching about islam and calling people 'brother' or 'sister' and calling people who reject it ingame 'kafir'

if not you're just a shitter

I never play to win when I'm with friends. It's much more fun to just mess around in good spirit.

Do you at least take the proper beliefs?

>Desert Folklore
>Pilgrimage
>Mosques
>Just War/Religious Texts/Defender of the Faith
>Religious Fervor

C'mon, what do you think I am? An apostate?

Just won a deity game with attilla (epic speed, so better for domination, also pangaea btw). Horse archers are insane after a few upgrades well up to and a bit into rennaissance.
Use his ua and raze cities without world wonders or unique luxuries. Everyone is goung to hate you fast so i opted for the city state policies and allied every city state in game over time.
Horse archers are also great for the clear barb missions without liding too many turns. If you dont use his horse archers, play another civ imo...

>epic speed, so better for domination

Marathon is the best for domination games imo. Gives you plenty of time to get the most out of your unique units. Of course, there's the fact that marathon games last for fucking ages, so it's not necessarily good for everyone.

Hum i dont agree with the early uu are bad thing.
Archer units with extra range, double attack and always heal cut through city defenses like butter. 2-4 of those plus a horseman is all you need to defeat any ai... horse archers add 4 movement per turn to the mix, which makes a huuuge difference in capture speed.
Also, when horse archers get the 2x attack upgrade, they can move in range, attack 2x, and move out of range again. Or attack, pillage (=heal), move out of range, etc.

Well, it depends on which unit were talking about
Longbowmen are relatively early and arguably one of the very best UU's
And most improved units are rather strong and can really give you an early head start

Even tryhard no-quitters matches have those types of people. They usually go for max honor, attack their immediate neighbour with early game UUs and ensure that both of them become incapable of winning due to everyone else getting far ahead.

Stellaris question.

Do mods that add new portrait types or ship model sets and such stop Ironman mode from working, or can I use those mods that add new races and still be able to get achievements?

ps 2x attack means 2x xp.

>they don't know about keshiks

>friend thinks I can't invade him because he's filling his land with units so nothing can get through without killing everything
>implying I won't just take his city from the sea with frigates that have 3 range and then capture it with a privateer

>Start a new game, nearby systems have 5 habitable planets
>3 of them have early space-age civ's, build a observation posts on all
>decide to covertly take them all over at once because I'm stupid
>every single planet has an agent go rogue because he's fallen in love with a girl
>spend the next 2 hours dealing with 3 rogues killing my agents because their waifu's are in danger
>one of the alien races have tentacles for faces

Unless that bitch gives killer blowjobs I could understand, nigger still got bombarded from orbit.

...

Does xenophobe stop that malarkey?

How do I quiet the void inside for another month?

Are robots worth it? Seem like they'd be good for mining operations and such.

Do they let you colonize uninhabitable planets?

I asked this last thread but didn't get an answer.

Which space 4x games have the best ship designers?

Not automatically.

I had games with xenophile where one scientists decided to play god, and xenophobe games where a scientists decided to ride the alien D.

It's possible that the event is more likely to go into a direction that suits your ethos, but I never really kept track of what happened with which ethos.

Stupid question but can I attached military units to science ships so they don't go into unsurveyed space with no escort?

They grow faster than pops and have better mineral output

Synths have better everything output iirc, but they're a while off basic robots.

If you get the relevant techs quickly enough and you have enough energy surplus, robots can be fantastic for quickly populating worlds.

Especially after terraforming planets where you can pop down 10 robots in quick succession

I would hope so, I'm getting tired of Agents going rogue for alien pussy.

Is it better to start with warrior or gatherer preference in Thea?

Also auto-resolve is OP as fuck

So what's your first game of Civ VI gonna be?

Fun

Yes, just select your military fleet and right click on the science ship to act as escort.

Japan, of course. Probably normal speed on that new improved-archipelago map type.

Don't synths like want rights and stuff? That sounds like it wouldn't go over well with xenophobic pops.

Greece, unless Sumer, Arabia, or Rome look more fun

Random.

It doesn't go well with spiritual ones even harder. Fucking lumps of metal don't have souls and shiet

China. Domination with a pinch of religion. Wide empire.

What sucks about ethos in stellaris is how limited they are in scope.

You can't really have a radical political movement on a particular planet, or have a religion spread quickly through an alien empire or some shit like that.

Maybe roll it into 'ideologies'. Spiritual civs get to create a religion with more direct control and get increased benefits and control over it with the weak and strong affinities.

Like the guy earlier, I also want to create space islam and spread it to my neighbors so they will be happier under my caliphate.

Japan looks nuts as is, might be the best civ in the game on archipelago

Just stay away from Synths altogether. The moment those fuckers start to think for themselves they go full Cylon and try to kill everything. And if that's not enough fun half the galaxy and a fallen empire want your ass purged for creating them.

>letting fallen empires boss you around

pussy

It's hard to tell fallen empires to fuck off when your strongest fleet is only a tenth strong as their weakest fleet.

P U S S Y
U
S
S
Y

you ruined it

First two will most likely be Scythia/Kongo, they're both new and seem decent enough for learning the game since Scythia gets very straightforward warmongering bonuses while Kongo can freely ignore faith/religion

When should i be retiring derelict ships in Distant Worlds? or should i just be using them in my navy

Xeno love is best love.

wrongo
perfect synth waifus > disgusting imperfect xenos
shit if you're really sick you can make a synth xeno too
synths > xenos

>Roving Clans
>Score Victory (normal speed, hard diff)
>one sitting

It wasn't hard and I don't think it was even fun
why do I do this things

>prefering robutt over real flesh

you have shit taste.

I want to motorboat Cleopatra/

I aint talking robutts here
I'm talking bout synth-flesh
vat grown humanlike synthetic organs attached to minds better than the real thing

>Score Victory
I didn't know EL had score victories.

Speaking of score victories, is there a way to 'build' for them or is it more just a reward for being pretty good at everything throughout the game?

>Especially after terraforming planets where you can pop down 10 robots in quick succession

this guy knows what's up

Seriously though, is there a surefire way to get the Unbidden/Prethoryn to trigger? I've played through 10 games now and it just hasn't happened.

Prethoryn you just need to wait as it's based of chance.

research both or a single type of jump drive for the unbidden. This applies to all empires so even if you don't they still may show up,

Its been a while so I don't know if it's limited to one crisis per game still.

So after doing the math of a rebalance mod and throwing it out I got motivated to start thinking about doing my own rebalance mod for Stellaris. I also had a thought about the way Stellaris balances things.

By default, 1 L = 2 M = 4 S, what if it was less linear than that? One L module being better than 2 Ms, and one M being better than 2 Ss.

Other than that, the balancing seems pretty easy since I'm just fiddling with the numbers in my spreadsheet.

i have fuck all idea how score works, but when I noticed I was behind a bit I built a shit ton of units and jumped ahead.
so, being good at things, I guess.
if the mercenary market werne't a shit-show of "you wanted the same unit for the next 20 turns, right?" I'd have probably given a shit about elimination victorying.
motherfucking ai never declared war on me.
