I have to get new pics of my baiku

so today was my first day at the MSF course, and my first day riding a motorcycle full stop.

It might just be because I'm brand new but it felt to me like we really didn't spend much time on the bikes at all, we were just blowing through all these exercises while I did shit like consistently rolled the throttle through turns, stalled the engine, took like 5 seconds to shift, struggled to turn, etc. It was like we stopped riding the bikes right before I really started to get into a stride.

Is this normal?

I have a few questions too.
how do I not roll the throttle like a mad man through turns? The instructor said a straight wrist but it's still difficult.

How do I position my foot on the rear brake without actually activating the brake?

How do I position my foot on the gear shifter so I don't have to completely swing my foot out in order to change which direction I'm shifting?

only touch the brake if you need to, otherwise leave your foot off of it
>How do I position my foot on the gear shifter so I don't have to completely swing my foot out in order to change which direction I'm shifting?
again, you dont touch it till you need to, put your foot back on the pegs

What baiku is that? I kinda like it. They make a luggage rack for it?

>how do I not roll the throttle like a mad man through turns? The instructor said a straight wrist but it's still difficult.

Why do you need to roll the throttle in a turn? you should only roll on as you come out of a turn. Otherwise use your left hand to steer and keep your right stationary.

>How do I position my foot on the rear brake without actually activating the brake?

Your foot should be on the peg at anytime you're not braking. Otherwise depending on the bike it should just be a matter of rolling your ankle forward

>How do I position my foot on the gear shifter so I don't have to completely swing my foot out in order to change which direction I'm shifting?

Depends on the bike but on some the shifter is so close to the peg that you have to, but your foot shouldn't have to come off the peg to shift.

They make soft panniers/bags for sport bikes.

Some companies even have factory option bags.

You do not cover or put your foot over or under the brake or shifter levers. You don't want to hit a bump and suddenly lock your rear brake or downshift.

you forgot ur rossi image, cuckhold

KEK!

outclassing every other motorcycle manufacturer at the moment

>Why do you need to roll the throttle in a turn?
I don't, the problem is I go to turn the handlebars and in doing so rotate the throttle with it, thus causing me to lunge forward. Do I need to hold the clutch in while turning?

So I keep the tips of my toes on the peg, and just move my foot forward when I need to brake?

and then regarding the shifter, I keep my foot on the peg but I have to slide my boot/toe out and around when I need to shift, it just feels slow and like I'm gonna wind up crashing or something for how long it takes me

It's not a 'real' sportsbike though right? It seats more upright like a naked or a ninja 250? Seems like it'd be a good commuter if you could strap a gym bag to the back fender.

You need to hold the clutch in in turns so you have a steady speed. just roll through the corner. Keeping your hand on the throttle results in slight imperfections and you're likely to slide the rear out. Also if you need to brake ONLY use the front brake in turns. If you use the rear you will most likely slide out. With the front brake the bike is pushing you and you can't lock up in turns

post it please

>Do I need to hold the clutch in while turning?

do you want to lose momentum and lowside?

Use your left hand to steer, you should have enough upper body strength to do that.

That being said I've never had problems keeping the throttle constant when I was learning.

>So I keep the tips of my toes on the peg, and just move my foot forward when I need to brake?

If its a standard bike you're riding, just keep your foot on the peg at the arch or front part of the heel of your shoe where most boots have the step at.

> it just feels slow and like I'm gonna wind up crashing or something for how long it takes me

Its becuase you're over thinking your shift, just do it, its just an up or down motion using your ankle and not your whole leg.

You don't use the clutch in turns, if you misjudge a corner and pop the clutch, the bike will come out from under you.

It's a 250r with fairings removed and tail tidy. I also painted the enginecase/exhaust/bolts black with high heat paint. Wheels I did with plastidip and rim stripes.

Mad weak. I just wanted to see them do stuff with the drunk teacher

bretty gud

It better be, you ungrateful bellend
Are you going for a red or an orange theme?

what does the deebeetee think of the bonneville

Sounds like you're holding too hard with your arms, use more of your legs against the tank to keep yourself in place. A death grip on the bars will result in lack of throttle control, especially when turning. Hold them tight enough to be secure but not so hard it limits your dexterity or is fatiguing. Usually helps to also pay attention to your weight in reference to the bike, if you're not positioned in a balanced manner you'll tend to need to grip harder. Think about how you'd ride a bicycle without touching the handlebars, emulate that balance and rely more on your knees against the tank to keep you in place.

As for shifting, if you're in need of moving through multiple years quickly, like accelerating out of a red light, you keep your foot in shift position until you're in your desired gear. Then back on the peg. Same with the rear brake. It may be slow at first but you'll learn it with time. One of the things I don't think they let our class do enough was to shift without using gas. Go from stopped to first to second without gassing, or gassing a little before you go into second but not during the shift. Do this a couple hundred times, and your feel for the clutches natural bite point will be much more intuitive and shifting with gas will become easier. Do you have a bike yet?

Apologies for any typos, I'm on mobile and not about to scroll back through and check myself.

>painting a black bike black

Don't listen to this troll newbie.
Don't clutch through corners unless you're stopping, and even then straighten out first. Tired have best traction slightly accelerating through a turn, that's why slow is the first part of the slow look press roll thing, so there's no chance of you needing to brake in a corner.

Also you don't use front break in corners you're gonna make your suspension dive, if you absolutely have to and it's not an emergency stop where you right yourself first, you can brake most safely through a corner by slowly adding rear brake. A rear tire lock is easier to recover from than a front tire lock, and a low side is much better than any other form of crash.

>no chance of you needing to brake in a corner.

what about trail braking then?

actually curious

You use the engine

It felt a lot more hektik than it looks

I have a bike but it's still in the dealer's lot because
1. I couldn't drive it because I don''t have my endorsement
2. I couldn't drive it because I didn't know how

That's a valid technique but it's meant for being fast, and it's for people who have experience. Don't concern yourself with that yet, just get a feel for how your the bike turns in ideal situations (accelerating) and then once that's down or start adding other variables like trail braking.

Whachya get?

Do you know a friend that can ride it to your place? Could you pay a dude that works at the dealership to ride it to your place? Why would you buy a bike before you took the MSF course?

Nice, user. Is that the 250?

honda nighthawk 250

I've been researching getting a bike since march. I knew I wanted a beginner bike but was having a real hard time finding one on CL, all my local site has is harleys and busas. I really wanted a honda nighthawk for how they look and for them being a beginner-friendly bike.

I decided to check out a reputable local dealer, asked him about his used stock, told him I'm a beginner and want something suitable for me. Lo-and-behold, he walks me to his used section and the first bike I see is a honda nighthawk for $1500. It had been owned by his family, so it's in pristine condition. I wasn't going to pass something like that up so I put a deposit on it then and there.

any of you guys have extra riding gear for women just in case a qt wants to go out for a ride?

Just an open face helmet

So, now that sem is happening...
>are italians white or not?

got to have extra gear for grils

No, it would be really weird to have an extra girl sized helmet on your bike. No helmet laws in my state anyways.

Recently started riding. getting comfortable on the bike (pic) but I keep having girls ask to go for rides. I keep saying no cus I want some more experience before that but realistically how much different can I expect the bike to behave with a smallish passenger? Knew when I started riding pussy would want to crawl on back but it's getting harder to say no.

This never happened

The only attention my bike has gotten me is from men.

>find facebook pic
>pretend to own bike to impress dbt
>hey guys girls flock to me like flies on shit

Fucking nobike scum, amirite?

Time stamp or gtfo

it was my first bike. I had fun on it, but if I had to spend my own money, I wouldn't buy it.(mine was a gift). its heavy, a little wide, the engine is lackluster, and the suspension sucks. mine also developed electronic problems after 7k and the fuel pump sounds terrible every time it primes. the ducati scrambler or the yamaha xsr900 or whatever it is are better bikes for that style of standard.

>tfw not a normie

good mother

What was your first bike /dbt/?
>Would you recommend it for a newbie?

orange.

What LEDs did you use?

when is the super merica meet?

LEDglow. Good pricing my kit was like $120 and it's the medium-size kit. Youtube them.

Anything under and not above 600cc. Do you want a sportbike or a dirtbike?

I went to this dealership with KKK but they were closed sorry for his cuck ass.

>dropped bike at intersection
Good thing I'm not on anything new and expensive lol

...

If you need LEDs to make your bike look cool, you and your bike are both totally fucking lame and tasteless

OK

should've caught it on tape

they're for "safety". I mainly ride in NYC at night

Squidanon is insane tho, so it's okay.

Naked, but I'd go a dual sport if it was comfy enough for road riding

ayy lmao

God you fcukers are annoying. Ignore the fact I ever brought up girls and tell me how different riding with a passenger is.

Ive never ridden a bike in my life. What do i need to start doing trials besides going back in time to 7 years old

haha, you're so mad.

How about you google that shit? Hell, you'll probably even find guides on youtube.
