>why did they even change medusas to hard mode? its not like they were hard to fight after they couldn't stone you through walls anymore, they barely even do damage by themselves and needed other enemies to swarm you for them. Medusas still spawn in pre-hm if the world is in expert mode. Though I think they must have a lower spawn rate because I haven't seen too many of them.

New fun thing to do for a few tries.
Use cheatsheet. Set the spawn to x.25. Dose up with a calming potion, set down a peace candle, get into town, and use a solar tablet at dawn. The spawn is so low that it's like a normal day with a creepy sky and the music, except ONCE in a while, one or sometimes two eclipse spawns will arrive.
Play a character of sufficient challenge to attempt survival for the daynight.
