It was made to be played as a video game, it is a bit weird trying to translate that into an anime and especially how they do it

I'm just really sad with how despair is coming across everyone. When I thought despair, I thought Junko was going to use everyone's weakness against them and make them feel as if she was their hope. Where was the real despair behind Natsumi's death? I mean cmon now. The only real despair that seemed reasonable was the first killing games and chiaki's death.

And they did write themselves into a corner with the class becoming buddy-buddy. No way in hell they were gonna fall to despair one by one after that. The brainwash thing is a little weak, but it worked.
