Anyone actually had competing cars from the same era from different manufacturers? Now I've had my Comet for 2 years (and stripped it down to nothing), and I had my Nova for 10, I have a pretty good feel for the cars. The Nova was built way better, no question. I think what killed Ford is doing the 1 year / half year huge changes, having way too many trim packages, and differentiating the Lincolns and Mercurys so much compared to the Buicks and Olds vs. their Chevy sister cars. Lots of stuff on the Fords left in bare metal, covered up with seam sealer, trim hiding everything, poor fitting interior and trim parts, the drivetrain is good but those went unchanged for long periods of time.
