Opinions on grille paint job in pic related?

I was considering leaving the kidneys chrome and the flat bits under the headlights white/

I was also considering doing some red accents (kidneys, indicators, roundel, lip) while I have everything taken apart but I feel like it might defile the glorious bimmar aesthetix

I personally would stick with the B/W color scheme. Very classy and good looking.

I guess it sounded better in theory

Just found this while googling around. First custom paint I've seen on a bimmer that actually improves the look

"Töööteee miiiich"

He who blacks the kidneys doesnt deserve bmw.

Ugh

I think it is a very subjective element. I think black looked as good as chrome on my cosmos, but on other colours of the generation such as dakar I would not even consider chrome.

Ümnitza is developing new exhaust systems for a few platforms. They are doing group buy pricing for the first batch, so if you want a new catback at a low price then you might be interested in these.

Here is the E36 Dacorsa Twin-Canister Dual Pipe Exhaust.

A friend of mine is a selling his E30 325i 4dr and my civic recently got totaled, any advice on how much I should spend?

So I have an e39 540i and I've been having issues with it. Sometimes when coming to a stop, the dash lights start flickering and dimming and the traction control, brake, and and ABS lights going on then off again. If I stop completely, the car may literally just turn off. The car has started up after a min of being off.

The battery and alternator are working correctly, tested at Advance auto parts.

The car does have a sound system that the previous owner installed and I think the dumb spic installed it wrong and its causing the electric fluctuations.

Anyone else have any ideas of what could be happening?

There is literally one other BMW thread on Veeky Forums right now.
2 Craigslist threads
2 GT500 threads
4 bad driver threads
a shitton of "iz car gud" threads

you can't unpollute Veeky Forums

deffinately sounds like an alternator fault

are you 100% sure the retard at advance autoparts checked it right?

the battery tested at 12.5v when the car was off and then i turned the car on with the lights and a/c and the battery voltage when to about 14v so it seems like the alternator was working but then again, im not too sure

how do audi dudes and bmw dudes get along?

moving into a new place which has a group of audi guys that rent out a big warehouse thing on the property to work on all kinds of audis, they have that S6 which had the lambo v10 in it, they have a manual allroad wagon, which i didn't even know existed

i was going to go chat them up, learn some stuff about audis, but i'm honestly wondering if they'll be like "eww bmw"

And yet more threads keep popping up.
Control these fucking morons please

audi guys in my area are dumb as fuck, they think audis are literally the best cars on the planet, best race cars etc.
good luck

All of the S/RS Audi owners I've met have been pretty chill, unless they're a normie that just bought the highest trim level for their new sedan.
It's the guys at car meets with base models I've found to be pricks, they get a slight superiority complex by owning the "premium" version of everyone else's cars. Same goes for Acura, I've found.
Just don't be a dick and the sane ones will get along fine.

You're allowed to link this thread too, if it bothers you so much. I think only model-specific or technical questions belong in the generals, marque discussion or comparison threads are usually interesting.

I have been linking his thread. Then they get all pissy and act like they are better than everyone else on earth (like bmw owners normaly act)
I leave alone the general thread out of respect. I will shitpost like mad if this shit continues.

so i drunkenly bought some ebay mini volt meters a while back after seeing a thread on forums. they got shipped and I lost them. Finally found them, and i'm going to install them on my blank spaces between hazards and defroster in my e30 dash.
switched power and ground to radio should be easy install.

should be nice to see how my battery/alt is reading. it's not too bright testing it here on my desk.

So I'm walking out of the store at closing time, and this alpinweiß e34 touring parks right next to me, despite all the other spots. Even so close she barely had room to get out. I appreciated the Style 5s, however.

Also went on an impromptu drive up Mount Palomar, watched the sunset and did some stargazing. Should have taken my DSLR along but of course I did not plan the trip.

So, uhh, mini dump of a few good shots. Sorry if these cocksuckers get rotated, Android can be retarded.

First time I've stopped at this farm, it is quite picturesque in the light.

Well normally they get rotated 90 degrees, today it is 180!

I think the elevation fucked up my phone's gyro.

Okay fuck this rotation and fuck this file size limit. We're going to collages.

...

...

Guy with the CBR600 said I had the nicest M3 he has seen.

Is a 1997 z3 worth getting? Met one selling his. What are the issues?

...

I know an Audi guy and he thinks his Audi is the best car ever but it's got a ridiculous amount of problems (including just dumping its oil with no visible cause whenever it wants) and a malfunctioning tiptronic transmission.

everything mostly

joking tho, what engine ?

What are your expectations and uses?

this is pornography man I love it.

Do you guys know if a lot of the 90s to 2006ish coil packs are pretty much the same? In a pinch I used a coil pack from a S52 on my 325Ci's M54, definitely different part numbers, but hey it removed the SES light. Now I'm wondering if I even really need to get the proper one...

Thanks, I'd upload individual photos instead of these small Fotor collages but 4 mb just doesn't cut it half the time. Plus the stupid rotation that comes out of nowhere.

hah, it makes it more artsy

It looks nice. I have no idea about bmw's and it's only recently that I started having an interest in them.

Same as any 24 year old dude, to hoon the fuck out of it. Nah I'm kidding. Basically to DD it and has track potential and the occasional dorifto.
Watcha think? Am I too far off?

Well I saw an alpinweiß Z3 driving up Palomar so you can do hill climb at the least.

Strobe lights? Will you be the BMW Police haha.

Wheels sound nice.

> be me

Couldn't be happier.

Well, I don't mean to push the thread to the bump limit, but it's not as if the past several threads have died young or anything...

Nice choice!

I suppose that is enough of them, I'm tired of making these collages haha.

Haha some of the shit are completely unnecessary, but it comes with the package.I could just take em off when I've decided that they're too ricey. what do you think? Good or bad deal? Pic related

It's a battered and abused 20 year old base model piece of shit, but I still like it.

Looks like it's had a crash on the front right panel though.

What part of Aus?

sydney. The previous owners didn't care about it and mostly treated it like shit. I've only had it for about a year, and luckily the mechanical side is in decent condition (aside from a lot of wear and vibration, might need to check the propshaft or synchros, needs an oil change soon, riveted exhaust tip annoys the shit out of me with rattling noise), but the body is crap.

The paint is basically ruined, and there's a thousand scratches and badly done touch ups. The windows and interior have seen better days, but it's still fun to drive. I just wish it had a straight six instead of the SOHC 1.6 4-cylinder economy motor. And that the passenger window opened.

I forgot for a moment that it had foil wrap. I think that may actually suit the car better than alpinweiß paint, I like the sheen and creamy tinge.

It looks like a saddened puppy sat out sodden in the pouring rain, begging to be let in upon the warm wooden foyer.

Yeah, I think it's actually got a personality. It isn't that old or worn out, but I get the impression it wants to die a glorious death and go to car Valhalla. Like sometimes I go for a drive and it drives like complete shit, the gearbox is shit and the engine is miserable, and the power steering is close to giving up. Other times I rush in and it roars in excitement, everything works perfectly because it thinks I am taking it out to max it's top speed, then going to write it off and leave it in a field to die from it's war wounds.

I swear it's fucking possessed. It's patiently waiting for the day when I push the car or myself too far, and wrap it around a pole or spin off into a ditch, or have it's internals catch fire and explode. It's fucking weird man.

>1.9 z3
[stop]
they're woefully underpowered and have essentially no aftermarket and engine swaps to larger engines are difficult
only get a 1.9 if you can get an absolutely pristine well cares for one for cheap

Guys, bought my first car a few weeks back. Very happy with it.

That's a good one

7 series? I hope you got the i6 with the M30 engine

>tfw missed out on the shitloads of will never have a E32 V12 with manual swap from E31

How much weight reduction can you get if you throw out unecessary electronics on the E32? I was thinking about it but it's a 1.8 tonne car, I guess with the manual swap you could save few kilos.

Aftermarket waterpumps with plastic impellers, hot or not?

OEM remanufactured one is like $400 so no.

/p/ here

Your diptychs make no fucking sense.

The 4 cylinder manual is fun and gets good mileage if you can roll with very little power.
Lets be honest unless it's has the 3.0/3.2 it's gonna have very little power.

the 2.5 isn't that bad and the 2.8 is actually one of the most turbo friendly engines bmw has ever made

Got this one a few weeks back

His phone turn pics upside down when postan.
Making random collages circumvents it.

>diptychs

Fucking hipster.

The 2.5(2.2) isn't bad but mediocre. I know because I own one. A solid 2.8 car + turbo package & installation w/ tune and reinforcements is going to cost more than a good condition M roadster while also being unstreetable. Even if he can legally put the turbo on in his country.

Oh I'm sorry I didn't make sense.

Plastic ones are shit so get one with a metal impeller. I'm pretty sure you can get aftermarket metal ones.

Any BMW owners in the greater Seattle area? Just moved here and am looking to network with fellow weekend mechanics and bbq'ers.

It's 10k USD. Is that bad for this?

All my cars have been underpowered. Nothing ever above 200hp and 2.5l.
How fun? Miata fun?

Well shit. It seems like I'm going way over my head with my expectations for the 1.9 z3. Thanks for the tip.

>paying 10k for a 1.9
literally what the fuck?
those are never worth more than 5 desu, even with super low miles they're not worth it

well lads today is the day
flying back to Colorado, clutch kit in hand
my anus isn't prepared for this

>piano black trim on tan interior
hnnnggg

Is that a good hng or bad because I'm planning swapping my shitty black/grey interior with a tan one for sale locally

piano black on tan is classy as fuck
that said, really should make that upper dash and upper door trim black instead of tan, looks way better

well my blower motor bearing started squealing a bit while I was in CO so I guess I'll do a top dash at the very least after boot camp.

Bought a '01 330Ci recently, very happy with my purchase unless it rains, seeing as the wipers refuse to work at all after 1 or 2 wipes, until I restart the car and then it's the same show all over again.
Also, I could swear I notice my headlights flicker when I punch it every now and then.
For the wipers, I've read about the wiper-realy being a common culprit, causing the problem, but for the flickering problem, could it have something to do with my alternator dying on me?

i bought a name brand plastic impeller by or Behr or some Merharlnfdsfsdggdg brand. It's composite material, much better quality than the OEM pump. Go with that or pay $200 for the Stewart metal water pump, sopposedly worth the price.

Yeah most "upscale" brands where I'm from is kinda rare, hence, the ridiculous mark up price.

So I'm planning on buying a 1989 E30 325i sedan but the fuel line is leaking, how much would it cost to get a new one?

This. Get metal for sure.

What filters do you guys use? Was doing an inspection today and apparently this is what was in mine.

Typically Mann since nothing else seems to be available near me.

Bump

Hello /bmw/!

I have the opportunity to buy an E36 330i for around $1500. Do I pull the trigger?

should have added that it is a 4 door sedan with the 6 speed and lsd. not an m3, but apparently the tranny and diff were swapped from one, and ample proof was provided.

Is that an e36 with a 330i engine or did you mean e46?

Either way if it is in good condition that is a fine deal.

wow u actually bought the worst bmw available

I fuckedit up it has a straight six and the 330i was the first that came to mind.

It has the 325i

Alright I was going to say I hadn't heard of an M54B30 swap for an e36 before.

Well the 325i was what was around in the early 90s, later they tossed it out for the 328i. So it is an OBDI car.

For a 325i in good condition with decent mileage then $1500 is perfectly fine.

Lay some facts about 530/530i on me pls. Good first car?

Which 530i?

I'm not sure the exact details. I'll find out, any big problems in general?
