Are Mitsubishi GTOs good?

Are Mitsubishi GTOs good?

I never see them on the road, and they're cheap as fuck.

>cheap as fuck

Not to maintain and insure

Why would it be any different than any other Japanese spots car?

They are quite unreliable by Jap sport car standards

Throw a match to it. You'll never spend more money on a vehicle.

>Mitsubishi
>good
Lol no.
I knew a guy who bought one because they look good on paper (the only place they look good) and he literally couldn't keep it running.
It's a good car if you want to spend more time under it than in it.

>Why would it be any different than any other Japanese spots car?
Because it's not Japanese, it's a Chrysler

Nice memes, automotive normies. Literally the cancer of the automotive world.

>Its a Chrysler
Any car enthusiast knows they are not a DSM or a Chrysler.

>DURR LOOKS GUD ON PAPER
>I BUY IT FOR 2K
>OMFG ITS NOT RUNNING
>MUST POST ON Veeky Forums BEKAUS SHIT CAR

OP don't listen to those fags, they are amazing cars , some of them are cheap because they migh have some shit wrong in them. A decent one goes for about 15-20K.

Remember these cars were selling for 100K USD (in todays money)

There are some anons with TTs and love em.

If you see the cheap ones (5K-7K) and are non turbos, then don't even worry. They are tanks.

Oh the I knew a guy meme.

I also knew a guy that owned 5 ferraris and sold them because he loved a 2K miata he bought full of rust.

>I knew a guy meme.
As opposed to what, having no personal experience whatsoever? Obviously I wouldn't own one myself because it's a fucking Dodge Stealth.

>There are some anons who love em
You're saying you know some guys who own them, though, yeah?

the main issue I see of Mitsu 3000/GTO is electrics.

I've heard they are pretty hard to work on and the GT electronics are a mess.

Also, the base models are FF, right?

They were some cutting edge shit in the early 90s which means they have all the advanced features of a 00s turbo Subaru while being much less reliable!

Not that user but I own one, the non-turbo version, but Ive worked on VR4s. Stock engines are tight to work on, but nothing too bad, remove the Y pipe and you have the same room that you have on non turbo.

>Its a fucking Dodge Stealth
Are you fucking retarded? Have you even done a slight research with GTOs?

The Stealth is the same exact car, but without all of the electronics. Left from the same assembly plant in Japan.

>Base Model FF

Only for the US market, the civilized world got AWD in all of the trims.

>Problems are the electronics

Normies tend to look down to that, but pretty much their technological approach was unproven and used the state of the art electronics, I respect those engineers profoundly for entering a pretty much unexplored area.

Besides, all of those problems can be addressed quite simple.

>OMG MY ENGINE BAY IS SO CRAMPED

Get a FMIC do a vacuum line reduction and now you have almost the same space that non turbos have.

>BUT THE ELECTRONICS

Get a Chrome ECU and you will have full control of the electronics, Theres a company that upgraded the ECS and works even better.

>Active Aero
The 99 wing does a better job

Just because people cant maintain a car that doesnt mean the car is bad.

Some people here on Veeky Forums dont really know a thing about cars.

They are no different from boomers or 18yo vapelords in their Si.

There's an user here with the MR spec and its a speedy car, think there's also another user with a tuned up TT too.

Twin turbo V6 and 90s Mitsu electronics. It's loaded with more techno shit than your average UFO. There's plenty that can go wrong and at this point they're all well over a decade old.

Half as long but twice as bright sums itself up well.

>the civilized world got AWD in all of the trims
The SR trim is NA and FF.

No, its AWD. The SL is FF.

SR = N/A AWD

I always thought the GTO SR was the Jap equivalent to the 3000GT SL. My mistake.

Its fine user.

There are even AWD GTOs with Automatic transmission. Kinda obscure

My friend has two of these cars: a base model and a VR4.

The VR4 isn't running and the base model runs but has problems. If you buy these cars, you better love them, have a lot of money for car parts, be able to fix the car yourself, and know where to get car parts(facebook groups) since mitsubishi abandons their old cars

Alright i have 8,000$, will that get new a decent gto? Someone look got a good one in California plz I'll buy it if the ride quality on the highway Is decent. I literally don't care about anything else

sacramento.craigslist.org/cto/5687849182.html

This one seems decent, seems taken cared for, stick. The only issue is it's not agt4 but ill use it for daily driving. Will i regret getting the base model?

>Love all of Mistubishi's 90's and early 00's line-up of sedans/coupes
>The AESTHICC is better than all the other jap cars, even Mazda
>Only drove a Gen2 Eclipse in Midnight Club3

>all mitsus are driven by minorities and women
>always fucked up bodies, spray-painted rims on every eclipse
>build and internal quality was already fucking terrible
>not enough technical knowledge or money to justify buying one
>tfw the dream of sleeper gen2 eclipse is dead
Now I just need to find a stock Integra GS.

>Integra GS
Ha good luck find a stock teggy

>regret getting the base model

If it's the SOHC then yeah

If you are looking at a nice and comfy DD and it's the DOHC then I don't think you will regret it.

>222hp
>less than 1400kg
>comfy as fuck
>sexy as fuck
>plenty of bolt ons
>plenty of suspension mods

I am biased since I own a FF goodness model. It's for me the best DD but I made some mods to it.

>lightweight pulleys all around, from lightweight cam gears to lightweight power steering pulleys
>suspension is 80% redone and upgraded
>3rd gen VR4 calipers
>swaybars
>quaife LSD
>double layered sound deadened interior
>Race pipe with catback exhaust

I can afford a VR4 but I just need 1 car for now.

Only shit wrong with it was a cam sensor and a power steering leak. Besides that no other problems.

>mitsubishi abandons their old cars

I can still call the dealership and get the rear right window brand new, even a new transmission. It's stupidly expensive but you can still get very specific parts.

3sx, 3swarehouse, maximal performance to name a few sell parts for those cars.

>I never see them on the road

And there's a perfectly good reason for that.

Did you buy that from a black guy named Mike?

The goy I bought it from wasnt even remotely black. 1/10

>1/10
I wasn't trolling, there was a guy named BigMike on 3Si that had one similar, but it was an N/A with an AWD swap.

so basically
>replace all the problem stock shit with after market shit and they work great!

Are lancers any better problem wise?

I think your pic sums it up pretty well:

>live in NZ
>JDM turbo DOHC 4wd GTOs everywhere

totally buy one. alternative:

>live in burgerland
>captive import chrysler SOHC FF shit everywhere

just buy a truck or whatever you retards usually drive.

Which engine is the sohc? And which is the dohc

This is the DOHC

And this is the SOHC

The FF DOHC N/A is not bad. Lighter and just as Comfy.

They make awesome DDs specially when you are sitting in traffic.

And still you get a car that's sexy as fuck.
