Why is the truck segment so heavily dominated by Ford? Are other companies even trying?

GM is trying their hardest to topple that.

Isn't that the damage control video from GM? Especially when their truck has "high strength steel" yet can't get a 5 star crash safety rating? Not to mention GM is switching to aluminum alloy in 2019.

Yeah it is, they are trying real hard to surpass Ford in sales with false ads.

Don't they already do that when you combine the Sierra and Silverado numbers?

Nope.

Dunno really. They usually mark them as two separate trucks I think.

This is just marketing. You must be pretending to be retarded. Ford only has 1 fullsize truck brand. GM has two in Chevrolet and GMC. So Gm's sales numbers leech off each other.
2015 F150 - 780,354
2015 Silverado and Sierra- 824,683
If Mercury was still around and had a f150 sister truck the same effect would be seen.

They did last year at least.
jetteroheller.wordpress.com/2016/06/09/combined-gmc-sierra-chevy-silverado-vs-ford-f-series-sales-gm-actually-sold-more/

The appeal to popularity argument is kind of dumb usually but I make an exception for autos as it means easy parts when I buy them a decade later as a poorfag.

Don't forget ford dominates the fleet sale markets.

That's it? Ford was struggling last year to make F150s. Look it up. I'm surprised it's that close. Ford truly is better.

All shit talking aside Ford makes a better product compared to other ua firms.

Why they did not need to be bailed out.

>G-GUYS BUY OUR TRUCK IT'S STRONGER
>LOOK AT THIS REALISTIC TEST OF DROPPING FUCKING CINDERBLOCKS IN THE BACK

GM shills are the worst

I could be wrong but I thought these numbers included fleet sales.

>tin foil trucks

kek

This. Ford includes fleet sales in those numbers, and when you have the Government buying up trucks on the cheap to use and abuse, your sales numbers look pretty good then.

How come "high strength steel" can't get 5 star crash safety ratings? Could it be that it's a marketing ploy? Really makes you think, huh?

>Why they did not need to be bailed out.

Except for the fact that Ford took 25 MILLION dollars in the form of loans prior to the crash, and hired a team of people who's ONLY job was to sort through all the property Ford owned and sell it off. They stockpiled cash as best they could and still barely made it out.

Also, google who still owes the US Government money. Protip, not GM or Chrysler.

>not having a bed liner to stop either scenario from happening in the first place.

wtf i hate ford now

Not any worse of a marketing ploy than "Trail Rated" or the infamous "Ecoboost"

>making excuses

This is good bait. You almost got.

Because safety rating isn't relevant at all to the material used.

Most trucks actually get shitty safety ratings because the tests involve crashing into a solid block of metal, which isn't a realistic show of crashes.

When you have a heavy vehicle, like a truck it takes a lot more force to stop it, and that's why despite getting good safety ratings all around on a smart car, when it crashed into a solid piece of metal, when they crashed a smart into a S class it scored poor, because physics.

Fords are getting good ratings, not because of Aluminum but because of the design of the trucks.

>Inb4 GM fangirl etc
I like RAM because of the looks. And RAM has the worst safety.

Bedliners, plastic ones anyway, are annoying.
They're noisy as hell when you toss anything in the bed and the surface is so low friction that everything that isn't anchored slides all over the place, usually damaging said things as well as the sides of the bedliner. They also trap dirt and other shit between the plastic and the metal, although I doubt anyone keeps a new truck long enough to worry about that.

Rubber bed mat is GOAT.
>throw hammer into bed
>doesn't bounce, just flops into place
>hardly anything will slide around even under heavy driving
>you just roll it up and toss it out when you want to clean it and the bed

I see more RAMs on the road now than I do F150s.

>I like RAM because of the looks.
Are you blind?

Because all the Fords made it home.

but the F150 is only the half-ton variant. do the Sierra/Silverado numbers include the 2500/3500 trucks?

>crash safety
>truck
lol

new f150 looks like shit

t. f150 driver

>we will never have a quality thread
FTFY

No believe the HD trucks are designated Sierra HD, 2500HD, 3500HD. Not just Sierra. So I would take it as being a different set of sales numbers.

Carpet beds aren't bad either. I really hated them until I bought a truck that already had it.
It's ugly as fuck to look at though so I got a toneau cover

Gotta agree, My favorite gen of F-150s, from an aesthetic stantpoint is either the 11th Gen or 9th gen. I can't decide. 10th gen looks like ass.

I just looked at Ford's Corporate sales release for 2015. The 780,354 trucks is the F-series (f150, f250, f350) not just the F150, So GMs numbers are likely the same and include the 3/4 and 1 ton varieties. So the numbers are still relevant to each other.

rednecks buy the most trucks

rednecks like Ford

>Veeky Forums will never be good

I want to die

Rednecks like GM and Mopar too, though.

It would take mods willing to delete and ban every shitposting troll that shows up on Veeky Forums. Unfortunately that would leave Veeky Forums just about empty.

>Honda did the test without a big budget commercial, holds up better.

I really dont understand these truck ads
ever
nobody drops fucking PAVERS into your truck bed from roof height.
Nobody fucking drops a pallet of concrete into their truck from 10 feet over the roof line.

This, it's the dumbest fucking ad, but GM is on full damage control right now so not surprised.

Not as much as they like Fords

If you drive a Ford truck, there's a very good chance you are a redneck, whether you realize it or not

You wouldn't have any numbers or actual statistics for this theory now would you?

Just having mods that did fucking ANYTHING would be nice. You see people on other boards complaining about nazi mods, you practically never see any moderation here.

Went to GM dealership to check out trucks, mid-range V6 half-ton = $60k

Went to Ford dealership next door, mid-range V6 twin-turbo half-ton = $50k

I'm from the Yukon (far as fuck north, Canada)

Basically the only trucks you see up here are Fords, they're the only trucks tough enough to haul, start in the cold, best 4wd, cheap to service and anywhere can work on them.

Used as fleet trucks, their diesel trucks are the best hands down, what's not to love?

I don't have any stats for how many Trump voters are white either...some things are just obvious though

If the mods banned every troll and deleted every shitpost this board would move slower than an FR-S

That wouldn't be a bad thing. This board is fairly active, it's just that shitposts drown out good posts.

yea obvious to shitposting baiters. That does Trump have to do with anything again? I thought this was Veeky Forums not /pol/

Stop feeding him (you)s.

If the mods would just delete all the laughing girl, ecoboost, and fake racing timestrips posts. That alone would make this board infinity nicer to post in.

>fake

The mods literally do not give a single fuck about this board. It's all but confirmed the mods are the ones doing the shitposting. In the midst of a furry porn flood a few nights ago somebody made a thread calling the mods nigger lovers. Guess what was the one thread that was deleted during that flood?

Trucks arent held to the same standards cars are. Hell, the F150 a couple generations ago would fold like a fucking soft tortilla in those test crashes, destroying all meat inside the cab. Although I applaud Ford for stepping up their game when it come to pickup safety. Think their new truck is ranked #1 on the pickup lick for safety.

youtube.com/watch?v=Ix-JjIRWOBU

*list

We're talking about now, not then.

All I get from this is that I would be pretty pissed either way. Kinda surprised one of the bed liner brands never messed with this commercial to prove why you should get a bed liner.

All new trucks look like shit and the next generation of trucks will look even worse and be so ugly that the previous generation starts to look good, happen every time.

Being an 11th gen f150 owner, I agree entirely.

Midwestern manitoban here, and cannot confirm. Chevy diesels reign king, 6.5 turbo and duramaxes are fucking boss.

Ford has best in class towing in the F150 and F450 classes.

Fords from 2008-2010 range have a really nice look to them plus it was back when Ford still had bizarre colors available.

>there was a time when ford trucks were death machines
>lets not talk about that

>there was a time when gm made good products
Oh, wait.
