Why do people still unironically buy corvettes in the year 2016?
Is it really just "muh speed" and that's it?

They're very well handling for the price, and quick. 50-60k for a base model manual and you still get a good sports car.
Dont listen to all the gtr vs corvette memes, its a great car. Its not as computer controlled and expensive as a GTR as well
Why would you feed a shitposter a (you)?
Quality thread.
MUH MURICA
is the more accurate reason
It's fast acceleration for not a lot of money, for people who are too afraid to buy a sport bike.
For Years and Years people see a Corvette as a expensive prestigious car. Even people who don't care about cars assume your doing all right if your in a Corvette. Also seen as a super performance car, a car a lot of people are jelilous of. Also a luxurious car for the well heeled. A mid life crisis car too. Many people are knowledgeable about Corvettes all years. How about a Nissan GTR costs even more but many people don't even know what it is. I don't think it has the same prestige except with knowledgeable sports car people.
>leaf springs
>BOOMERS
>for people who are too afraid to buy a sport bike.
>sitting in v8 sportscar with leather seats and climate control
>sitting on a rocket in leathers in 100 degree heat and a full helmet
>sweating your ass off and "fucking cagers" is all you can think
>thinks a corvette is leaf sprung
this is the worst meme ever. even my trans am doesn't have leaf springs
a corvette has IRS
mainly baby boomers that buy them.
same deal as Harleys.
it still has leaf springs
>Trans am owners in charge of having basic car knowledge
it literally has a transverse leaf spring for the rear suspension.
What other new sports cars would you buy for 55k? It's a performance bargain. The base Vette competes with 911s and other cars that are 30k more expensive, and some journos think it may even be better. Of course, I mean only performance-wise, the interiors are still pretty meh.
GT350R over a vette any day
>transverse leaf spring
>means its leaf sprung
kek
that's like saying an F1 car is similar to an F150 because they both use rubber tires and have brakes
>it's a "someone asspained because the car then don't like beat the car they like at road America" episode
nothing in common with a traditional leaf sprung suspension
its not a fucking pickup truck
>What other new sports cars would you buy for 55k?
One that has windows, isn't a 3500lb boat, has a design that isn't mind numbingly bland, and is actually fun to drive?
>b-b-but muh bench racing
Kek good luck finding one without absurd mark-up. Also, for the same price as the Vette the best you'll get is the regular GT350, not the R.
this car has a transverse leaf spring in the front. people would say it is leaf sprung.
>he still can't name a car
Why would OP shitpost when he can base jump without a parachute in 2016?
Should he really kill himself. Is that it?
yeah
its basically a Trabant
it still has leaf springs
>Hypercar performance for 100k
>fairly reliable as far as supercars go (inb4 muh oil overheating)
Its a 'cheap' supercar if you're going to track it without basic cooling mods and tuning you deserve to have it blow up in your'e face.
That said YES they should have been more stable from the factory but its essentially a budget supercar what did everyone expect? They are cheap for a reason.
>it's a supercar
>but if you drive it hard without first spending more money on mods then you're dumb!
damage control
...
I'd rather have about a trillion different cheaper cars over a Corvette. A BRZ is one if that appeases your shitposting sensibilities any.
99% of Corvette owners never go anywhere close to a track, Chevrolet knows this... They drive it to work a couple days a week and to the country club on the weekend.
It's supposed to be a grand tourerererer not a banchracer mobile you faggot.
>slower than a gtr
KEKKKKKK!!!!!
>slower than an extremely fast car
wow how embarrassing
Why would you give him a (you) and this shit thread a bump?
Why do people still use the term 'unironically' unironically in the year 2016?
>Corvette makes more power, is lighter, has better tires, better brakes, newer chassis, more displacement
> Still slower
KEEEEEEEEEKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!
>you like a car I don't like!
>shitposting
I mainly meant that he was going to shitpost over whatever I listed.
Bump
2 reasons.
1: The Corvette is, and always has been, the best bang for the buck sports car you can get.
>b-but muh GTR Nismo!
which is $50k more expensive than a Z06 and not noticeably faster. They are FANTASTIC value for the dollar and nothing can touch them in that category.
2: The Corvette is an icon despite the fact that it was an underpowered I6 joke of a car when first introduced in 1953. Like Ferrari, the Corvette has a pedigree history in sports car racing. Even after GM banned factory-sponsored racing in the 60's, Corvettes dominated in sports car racing.
Because of that pedigree, people will buy a Corvette for the same reason people will buy a Ferrari.
Cause they look sexy tbqh f am
That's a hot Mustang.
c4 and c3 are more sexy
>Muh Trabant
GM still did it better.
>Why do people still unironically buy corvettes in the year 2016?
The average age of new corvette buyers is something like 60, they don't give a shit what year it is.
The 350 and the r are almost identical. The only get a bit more power.
Yet GM plans to make it an unaffordable mid engine POS
A good-spec'd GT350R is well over 90k.
Cuz AMERICA!!!!
meh. The Corvette has been mid-engined since 1984.
>niggers don't know about FMRs
As to an unaffordable Corvette, you very quickly forgot about this beast.
>100k base price Corvette
Why do people still unironically buy Audis in the year 2016?
Is it really just "muh premium brand" and that's it?
k base price Corvette
And it didn't even have an LS.
no. It was better.
Didn't that thing basically run on headgaskets?
No. Cadillac redesigned the headgaskets in 2002 which solved the problem.
I think it's also interesting to point out the Northstar wasn't originally going to be called the Northstar... and it wasn't originally going to be launched by Cadillac either. The engine was actually developed, initially, as a V8 variant of the Oldsmobile 2.3L Quad 4.
Don't you love ___?
>BHGs
>Cracked blocks
>fragile engines
>being beat for power by a pushrod
>low parts availability
So basically the appeal is that the dollar price for the thing you want is lower than comparable alternatives?
That's fine. You're allowed to do that.
You're allowed to buy single - serving drinks too, but you're a fuckin retard if you get a 20oz cola instead of a 2-liter for like 25 cents more.
>hypercar performance
I think you're getting the two confused.
this could have been solved had GM actually invested in actually updating the Northstar over the years, like they did the Chevy small block V8.
en.wikipedia.org
While initially canceled in 2008, it looks like Cadillac got back to working on it recently.

Please stop posting, you're making actual corvette fans look bad with your idiocy
Independent Rear Suspension that has leaf springs, you obviously have never looked under a C4 or C5
The Porsche 918 has coil springs, just like a Silverado. Why would you pay 1 million dollars for a suspension taken from a 3/4 ton GM truck?
Silverados only have coil springs in the front.
>"unironically"
yeah because people buy 70k cars just as a joke
>Northstar
>Better
what a fucking retard
That explains a lot, really...
>918 uses the FRONT suspension from a pickup truck in the BACK
no wonder it loses to the $120k Viper, what a piece of shit
Doesn't the Viper also use the front suspension from a truck in the back?
Well 2009+ Ram 1500's use coil springs at all 4 corners. It's the only full size truck to do so.
