It's easy to fix myself. I'm not going to lie and say it has been problem free, it hasn't. But things don't go wrong often. The forums are excellent sources of info.

The car requires an afternoon of tinkering every 3-6 months. Nothing that has gone wrong has ever disabled the car, so the tinkering can happen when convenient for me.

The only think I am jelly about is the better crash rating on the 86.

I drove a BRZ and *really* enjoyed it. I actually liked it more than he the Fiesta ST I ended up buying, but the latter was a vastly better deal.

I drove the fiesta st before getting my frs. They are such different cars it's kind of hard to compare.

Minor repairs and while I am out there I do maintenance.

I spend more time cleaning it than wrenching on it.

In the next couple of days I am going to do a cooling system flush, radiator and pump replacement, belts and pulleys. I am guessing it will take me 4-6 lazy hours.

There really isn't anything special about them from a maintenance perspective. Just stay on top of it.

thanks for the feedback. i test drove the fiesta st and to me it was more enjoyable than the wrx, gti, focus st, and 500 abarth. still need to try an frs/brz before i finally make a decision.

most small cars these days have small turbos that spool up quick and deliver lots of torque down low but tend to get asthmatic at high rpms.

I actually think the 86 is a great value when it comes to brand new cars.

I think the fiesta is fun, but you're still driving a turbocharged fiesta. The seating position is very floaty feeling, even with the recaros. It's not just the fiesta, it's any econobox turned boy racer (sti, evo, focus St).

It's different with the 86 where you actually have to sit down into the car. It's like a lotus Elise, but not nearly as awkward. I enjoy being in a car that is low to the ground like that.
