why are European cars considered premium/luxury but everyone here seems to be having problems with theirs or recommends being extra careful if they buy second hand.

you would think that these cars have better build quality for being considered 'premium'

>premium/luxury
Ive sat in corollas that are more comfy than any euro trash ive been in

thats because Veeky Forums thinks comfy = bland shitbox

>thats because Veeky Forums thinks subjective opinion = subjective opinion
gee you sure got em there

Because you're a stupid weeb who is obsessed with initial D

The interior if my acura legend from the same year is much nicer than that

because that''s the thing with a luxury car you fucking retard

those who can actually afford them don't buy them second hand, they buy it new and don't keep them for more than 10 years, and car manufacturers know this and designed they cars in such a way

then retards come, buy them because they want to pretend they are the hot shit they buy something they actually can't afford and expect reliability from something with so many parts that can go wrong

Just because the marketing team calls it premium doesn't mean it is.

European cars are generally luxurious and some are very reliable too but where it goes expensive are the parts.
Take the example Mercedes; exquisite, badass build quality and reliable but parts are expensive af.

pffff

How is that bland?
Have you ever sat in those seats? They are fantastic.
What is initial D?
That literally looks like shit.
Aw11 has some comfy interior too

Le nostalgia for an era you were never a part of

But... i was part of it. Im old as fug

Luxury has almost never equaled quality with most products whether it be cars or not.

Iphones rarely last longer than 2 years for example.

Two reasons:

1. The expectation is that if you can afford a luxury car then you should be able to afford premium service and maintenance. They depreciate hard because people buy them expecting them to be as reliable as any old car and then can't wait to unload them and the additional maintenance costs they come with.

2. It costs a lot to import parts from Europe and so even base level cars like BMWs and VWs end up costing more to own. They're built on first work wages to first world quality then face first world tariffs and then get shipped by first world exporters to sell to the first world.

You gonna like this;
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Initial_D

>Mercedes
>badass build quality
>reliable

its an AW11 asshat

>>>>toyota

This is what I don't understand. How can these cars possibly be considered well engineered or luxury if they're far more prone to breaking down than cheap japanese cars?

Because niggers and dumb women buy them and don't maintain them precisely like ze germans wanted them to.

>Iphones rarely last longer than 2 years for example.

That's certainly not true. They may have a shit interface and boring hardware, but they're certainly reliable.

My brothers 2015 mazda 3 has a better interior than that and i hate its interior.

>implying mazda's new interiors don't actually look really good

The one area I always thought they were really weak in, and they improved it dramatically.

Because Normies are dumb.

Yes, BMWs and Mercedes are amazing luxurious, and comfortable as fuck, but they're over engineered as hell, and if one tiny thing breaks it ends up costing thousands of dollars.

More that they actually NEED their scheduled maintenance. They are engineered precisely, if you do not perform the maintenance. They break. They are expensive when they break.

Well Ill agree they'll be functioning but as far as working in top order no.

Both my sisters and her BF phones were locking up and generally being pieces of shit by they time they got new phones the last time around.

Not to say my samsung hasn't had its problems, its does what I ask of it.

iPhones last forever if you take care of them.

Let's not pretend that a Mercedes is some kind of god machine. They break all the fucking time.
S class cars are the worst to work on to. You can't do shit in the engine bay without having to remove 30 pounds of plastic covers.
The electronics require a scan tool that worth more than some people's homes.
The cars eat tires like crazy you need new tires every 10k milesBurn through brakes every 25k miles.

European cars IN EUROPE are premium/luxury.

European cars IN AMERICA are built (badly) by Americans to (interior) american spec, to satisfy the (stupid) american market and (insane) american safety regulations, and compete with (godawful) american cars.

In Europe, a Focus is a small luxury car if you get higher trim than base model. In the US, it's a cheap shitbox because 'only poor people drive hatchbacks'.

>heh you retard
>of course the cars are shit
>they BUILD them like that
>you actually expect a 50k+ car to be reliable and last long?
>pssh dumbass

Nobody has anymore problems with them than anyone else, it's just an Veeky Forums meme of "lol german luxury". The same goes for anything GM too. Veeky Forums pretty much hates everything that isn't Japanese.

This. There's a reason why the American versions of European cars are so much cheaper here - nobody wants that shit. You can get an American Porsche 911 for like half the price of the German ones, and we're talking rust-free imports from California.

Quality =/= longevity
Quality =/= huge service intervals

My citizen ecodrive has been running for years without a care. Meanwhile my Rolex needs servicing every year.

=/= ≠ ≠

Fite me irl bro

I can't tell if you like that interior or not.

That interior is so objectively bad, you obviously own one.

German cars were very reliable in the 1970s and 1980s, conversely American cars were poorly built trash.
Standards have slipped as they chased volume but they still have reputation they earned back then.

er, actually, you're incorrect.
u can fite me 2 irl

Because "muh luxury imports". Everyone knows European cars are finnicky compared to Jap cars, but they have money for a mechanic so they don't care.

Veeky Forums is full of no-car neets and other poorfucks, the only european cars they can afford and buy are VW's.

i call bullshit
the german car makers were obsessed with K jetronic.
it is a garbage system, which was never more reliable than a carb

>hurr german sparse interior a shit lolololol jap sparse interior a best xD
Veeky Forums really does have the shittiest taste

Whelp, the L-Jetronic on the Bimmers of the period was dead reliable.

>only women drive hatchbacks*
FTFY

>the only european cars they can afford and buy are VW's.
You mean Civics i.e. the most boring car imaginable. But that's just Amerifats. The Europoors ride the bus or own some sub-2liter diesel shitbox. Autistralians ride shitbikes.

bmw has the worst and shittiest interiors for its orice range, if you want something good for the same money you just have to buy the benz, audi or a cadillac(hard to findd the dealership but when you do you wont be sorry)

>only women drive hatchbacks
u dare

hahahhhaahha you cant even compare bmw to the american cars of the 70s and 80s thats how bad bmw was back or audi(even worse) the only good or basicly great car from germany in those times was mercedes, they even beat cadillac back then so thats quite an achivement , but usually the only people who realise this are us germans, or other northern countries, bmw has the worst fans and so many fanboys that they can produce anything and it will be considered good(check out their new lineup) and will try to defend it

Because the driving experience in a cheap Asian car is rather bland unless its their own sports/luxury veichles

The complicated suspension system in a VW gives it better handling, but when one part fails you basically have to replace all parts at onnce because one weak point strain dozens of small gizmos whereas a Toyota is much simpler and practical.

Also, German cars in the US are assembled in Mexico and not by German ubermench in the reich

style is definitely the main factor when it comes to selling to vain people
and its a quality not a quantity so it does not have the requrement of costing alot

but a quntity like cost or a narrow metric of performnace like hp or 0-60 times can be used to sell to people who never think of quality
.ie bench racers who only care about the outcome and not how or why it is reached

that's just ergonomics nothing to do with how good the materials are

>they even beat cadillac back then so thats quite an achivement
>quite an achievement
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

that's just an early adoption problem
they are not dealing with a proven tech and don't know if it will work out of if the change is worth it
>tfw I started that and a few other text patterns

you just proved my point abou bmw fanboys and thats one of 3 cadillac models that are bad and bmw had a lot of shitty cars in history like pic related and bmw isseta, x1, x6, x3 which is also my DD and is expensive disqusting car

americans overhype anything euro for some reason

Europe is trash desu

USA > Union of European Islamic Socialist Republics

>European cars IN EUROPE are premium/luxury
>In Europe, a Focus is a small luxury car if you get higher trim than base model.

said like a true american

well they are not really premium everybody basicly from middle class and above owns bmw, audi, mercedes and other shit and jap shitty cars are owned by beginner drivers and poorfags, also american versions are better equiped, have better engines and can be a bit cheaper if you compare the same trim level with bigger engines so i noticed quite a lot of new bmw models have been imported to yurop and they save some money in taxes too becouse they are driving it on american license plates

Many old BMW's for instance have been thrashed around and badly maintained by retards.

They've got more things that can fail, because they're more complicated, but if you take good care of them (and the previous owners did too), they'll take good care of you

Any car that's been treated badly will break, i've driven BMW's with 300.000km on them that felt, look and drove flawlessly, i've also driven BMW's with sub-200.000km on them that felt like complete shit

i can take a really good care of my chrysler and it will take good care of me.

Sure you can, but it won't drive, feel or look as nice as the bimmer.

>unironically defending malaise era garbage

was port of the test to parallel park behind the obstacle you avoided ?

Yeah, I had a 4 up until about a month ago

Bmw a shit getcedes

Personal preference, sure, same goes for the merc, but they're still both better than a chrysler

Nobody wants that shit because it IS shit. They gimped it for your market because you don;t know what luxury is, and you're too fat to get performance out of a smaller engine.

Premium cars need maintenance and shockingly preventative maintenance. Even more so with the high mileage and beaten ragged examples that poorfags can afford.

Also premium tech is more expensive than the standard shit in a appliance tier Toyota. Example, a standard maintenance item like shocks. Magride shocks cost much more than standard ones.

But there has never been a Porsche 911 or any Porsche built in the US. The only BMWs built here are SUVs. same goes for Mercedes. the only Mercs built here are SUVs with the exception of the C-class that only started being built here most recently (2014) The only VW built here is the Passat which means the vast majority of shitty german cars can only come from germany and be built by germans.

The E60 M5 as an example wasn't built here but Matt Farah said its engine drunk a "horrifying amount of oil" and its transmission was an unreliable shitpile and if "that's the best BMW can do we should all be worried".

f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=806291

This guy seems to mirror those complaints.

it will drive better I'm driving bmws for the last 15 years becouse i don't like audi, can't afford mercedes and other yuro cars are shit and i don't want to drive them. somehow I bought newx3(mistake of my life) and i test drove a lot of chryslers since there is no other american car dealerships and belive me bmw is just overhyped shit I'm not telling you that it is bad but my next car will definetly be jeep srt8 or chrysler 300c built quality is the same, materials are the same, but it will ride better be faster and look cooler, they are more reliable, more practical and so on. only thing is that bmw is using different tectures and patterns on their plastic so it looks better and "MUH MATERIAL QUALITY"

its fwd... and I'm defending it becouse its better, car is not slow for the time and its a luxobarge so handling is not really important even though it's a sportier version of eldorado in your beloved webm its meant to be comftortable and compare the caddy to similar european versions merc was still producing barges audi was shit all other european cars were basiclly horseless carriages and bmw was just starting to produce something worth the money

Yeah, good on you for comparing the X3 to an SRT8 300c, splendid observation, you sound like a really knowledgable guy.

Also, here's some spare dots and commas i had lying around, so you can make your shit bearable to read; ,,,,.....

>the blame mexico for garbage parts and autistic engineering meme

Dont even fucking start with that shit krautnigger

if anybody can compare old cars from 70s and 80s versus the new european cars I can compare the srt8 to the x3 and yes I am knowledgable guy and thanks for the dots and commas you are very genrous

>The only VW built here is the Passat which means the vast majority of shitty german cars can only come from germany and be built by germans.

If by germans you mean mexicans, than yes. Because VW makes most of their shit in Mexico.

what? you seem to think cheap japanese cars are some sort of low point for reliability?
cheap japanese cars are designed for reliability above all else.
that's just what they do.

Because of Gen X. They got tired of hearing their parents talk about how great American cars are, so they bought foreign. Immediately regretting this decision, they collectively swore "NO NO MY VW IS AMAZING MY AUDI IS SUPPOSED TO SHIT OUT OIL AT TWENTY THOUSAND MILES!"

European cars are fucking garbage. Every one of them that comes into my shop is falling apart, whether it's brand new or years old. Asian cars are made of tissue paper and can't handle weather. American cars are still the highest quality on the market.

Fuck anyone who says otherwise. They're retarded.

>car is not slow for the time
0-60 in 12.9, 111mph top speed, 145 hp from a 6.0L V8
>and I'm defending it becouse its better
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

But don't imported cars have to be 25 years old?

Holy fuck thats slower in almost every way than my ae86.

10 something sec 0-60 125mph top speed with 112 (128 jdm)hp from a 1.6l 4 cyl

I'm talking about cars that are built in Germany and then sold in the US such as that E60 M5. all "M", "AMG", Porsche and Audi "RS" or whatever their performance names are, are built in Germany and only Germany.

>everyone here seems to be having problems with theirs
Veeky Forums buys shit boxes, fact

Because the fags here can't afford luxo cars newer than 20 years old.

You're not allowed to tell the truth about American cars on Veeky Forums. Please delete this.

....Yeah- I had a VW Corrado and that was the least reliable piece of shit I've ever owned. I'll never buy a VW again.
