But that's one good thing that DaS2 has going for it, build variety. Specialize in any two of the four offensive stats, and you'll eventually find a weapon that works into it. The flip side is having to deal with Adaptability and Soul Memory, but the latter doesn't matter so much in a dead game.

DLC is most likely accessed through the cathedral of the deep, an ex-way of white base with SHITTON of items touching Lloyd in their description. Hell, he has a fucking named weapons already and Duel Charm states that he was some sort of a judge in duels, and there's dueling arena in DLC.
There's also a miracle creating way of white sign for you to throw in DLC itself, as well as greatsword with the same decorations as cleric's candlestick.
Also watch DLC and notice how bearded guy prays to the altar of Deacons in cleansing chapel. But behind that altar there's a statue of a girl in similar robe to a scythe girl from a trailer.
Plus him being locked in a painted world will explain his sudden disappearance and why he is no longer considered to be a leader of the way of white.
