BMW: made amazing cars during the E46/E90-era, earlier generations were between meh to okay and the F30 is decent but overpriced. Absurd amounts of uninformed generalizations both for and against the brand but overall I'd say they come out on top
Audi: Looks good on the inside and outside, reasonably comfy but that's about it; relatively modern models are slow, pigfat and plagued with issues.
MB: The posterchild for badgewhoring, aside from ruining Chrysler and getting imports in the US banned, their ubiquitous presence is fueled only by a three-pointed star. Lexus does luxury better for a fraction of the cost in terms of initial payment, maintenance and repairs. At no point has it really been worth buying over its competition

This pretty much. On any early 2000's Audi you have to take the whole front of the car off to work on literally anything. Plus they have some of the dumbest design choices ever like integrating the immobilizer into half the parts in the engine so if a fuel pump goes the replacement has to phone home to Ingolstat before the car will even start, and it's a procedure that can only be done by a dealer or a specialist.

Not true, VAG engines have always been like this. They are built mainly for highway, and by using more oil they make the engines last longer. That's how it used to be. VAG has gone to shit now tho.

BMW at least TRIES to make their cars a bit more fun to drive even though their bean counters won't let them. Anything older than E90/E60s were at least made to be reasonably worked on fairly easily and you don't need any special dealer computers like the other two brands. Their parts usually fail in 10-15 years and once fixed last about that timeframe, which is pretty good. If the Chinese market never existed and they quit trying to compete with Mercedes/Lexus in building isolated barges, they'd be great again.

Audis are bad. Volkswagens with a extra layer of complicated bullshit and a complete disregard for quality control. They made some cool cars over the years (S/RS cars) I'll admit. I actually think being able to remove the front clip on their cars to service it makes sense considering it comes off in 30-45 minutes and gives access to most of the front of the engine. They're pig fat for the most part, but still somewhat entertaining to drive, understeer aside.

Mercedes is the worst. They banned imports to keep overcharging Americans for shitty base model S-Classes. The cars are boring isolated barges, not a single manual transmission (I'd even take a DCT) in sight. Even on their AMGs, can you imagine how much better they'd be with a manual? They're fucking retarded to fix and get stupid fucking issues (IE my neighbor's W211 2008 E350 being stuck in their driveway because of the immobilizer crapping out). The few "reliable" cars they accidentally build just end up rusting out like a 1984 Nissan Maxima instead. Garbage.

Anything Mercedes does Lexus can do better while being simpler, more reliable, and better built. Even sports cars, anything they can do BMW/Porsche does better. I hate Mercedes. Their only two good cars are the 190E Evo II (which they never sold in America) and the AMG GTS.

The steering wheel looks like dogshit, the seats do not compare to AMG seats, the car sounds like shit and is silenced by AMGs, the exterior is really not all that sporty compared to a c63 or even cls. Merc has done a great job combining luxury and sportiness
