yeah, no

the S62 is better.

Early 90s LT1 350 Small block Chevy

Stock make over 300 HP, easy to make over 500 on the stock bottom end with boost, they're basically falling out of the sky and they can be had for $800 or less. They can be built to LS spec for far less than an LS costs, and can be carbureted if you're a massive hipster. The greatest mass produced engine in recent history at this very date, but will fall out of relevancy and will be replaced by the LS in my mind about 5-10 years from now.

Had a lt1 in my impala that had 600rwhp and no way I'd pick it over like a 5.3 6.0 ls.

An LS is objectively better except for actually buying one. The hype, being relatively new, and so many iron 4.8/5.3/6.0's are still on the road drive the price up for sure.

4G63T w/ VVT ("MIVEC")

Barely within the 10-year window but goddamn that engine makes me moist.

Yamaha makes a great engine, it's just too bad they had to use that oil burning rod tossing pos toyota bottom end.

>oil burning rod tossing pos toyota bottom end
This is not a thing

>2A in the past ten years?
I dont think so tim

I think you're missing my point, which is that it's an extremely cheap and reasonably capable engine, available everywhere. The LS is more expensive, but lighter and more capable. I just don't think the LS is worth the extra money.

Foreverrrr

>posts m3 v8

I suggest you look into all the oiling issues owners have been having. It's subaru tier (spun rod bearings).

I was going to post a redblock, but its too old.

Me too, so I picked the next best thing!

Sure thing boss

funny you say this as my weekend car is an STi

After 03 they were fine

I came looking for the get post.. how disappointing.

It's sad that production ends this year.

Sirius is still used in chinkcars.

While I agree the M88 is a great engine, it wasn't made in the last 10 years.

Go home V8 cucks.

6.2> eco boost all day.
Those things just drive you around town at decent (16-17mpg average) but when it's time to do work.kek

>This engine's potential was cut short due to space issues in the Mustang

Imagine if Ford went through with engineering the GT to fit this...

muh nigga

F20C anybody?

Do you know what a decade is?

"Eco boost" is the best automotive oxymoron around.

Anyone who has ever owned or driven anything with a turbo gets the joke. Good thing for FORD is there are plenty of fucking idiots who think they'll actually get better power, longevity, and mpgs with a turbo.

AMC i6 last used in 2006 wrangler

>dat displacement/output ratio
>dat toyota/honda best of both worlds
We need a 2.2zz

They would have easily added 200 pounds in unnecessary weight????

My 2.3 liter 4banger have 372

>comparing turbo to NA

>tfw all the cars I own were mass produced more than 10 years ago

Being this defensive that a 4 liter V8 is weaker than a 2.3 4banger when it comes to torque.

Is the S65 that embarrassing?

Oh wait, the S65B44 is 4.4 liter and have the same Nm as my old 2.3 liter 4banger with a $140 software tune.

S62 is pretty dope, yeah

then again, i sometimes touch myself at nigh at the thought of the S85

>so asshurt he assumes I'm fanboying immediately
lol
BMW fanboys aren't the only people who realize comparing NA to Turbo is stupid you know.

When you grow up and learn a thing or two about engines you'll learn

There's one thing to learn.

X engine is worse than X+Turbo
If you want to see that S65 somewhat good, turbo convert it.

>hurr durr it's not good because it doesn't make 600hp
Boy racer child who has never driven a decent car detected

I never said anything about HP needing to exceed 600.
But when peak torque is lower than HP it's something wrong.

>But when peak torque is lower than HP it's something wrong.
Holy shit this just keeps getting funnier

>But when peak torque is lower than HP it's something wrong.
>this literal child thinks there's something wrong with this car because it makes 1140hp and 885ft-lb even though it's faster, better quality, more interesting, just overall objectively superior to anything he'll ever drive let alone lay his hands on

Chevy 350

You mean F22C?

>I want my car to be useless unless I rev it to boy-racer VTECH JUST KICKED IN YO levels.

>1200 Nm at 4100
>1200 is somehow less than 1140
You're not a bright person.

>S65B40 4 liter 414HP only 400Nm.
>S65B44 4.4 liter 444HP only 440Nm.

It was produced until 2009

>now he's changing units to try and make his stupid point

>But when peak torque is lower than HP it's something wrong.
Clearly there's something wrong with F1 engines.

Why are you using imperial and metric units?

Your imperial shit system is retarded and even with the glorious Metric system your engine can't have more torque than HP.

It was never about which unit, I had Nm in mind all the time, but used burgerfats unit just to make it easier for you to understand.

Clearly you're retarded.
Or do you rev your engine to 18K RPM for DD driving?

>only revs to 8k
>lower Hp/L
No.

Of all my years spent on Veeky Forums I've never seen someone in so much damage control.

Holy Emissions cucks batman

>Not reving to redline everyday
holy shit does any cuck drive like this everyday? Do you enjoy not using your car? may i suggest a bicycle or better yet a prius

>cleaner exhaust is bad

idiot

there's a difference between enjoying your car and beating the shit out of the engine on a daily basis severely lowering its life span

>looks like someone learned to use the new buzzword that all the cool kids are using

>capitalized mid-sentence "Emissions"
fucking phonefags

Yet Honda has better emissions as a company compared to the rest.

fuck You

>quoted metric torque
>quoted imperial horsepower
LOL

PS and HP are close enough.
Not enough people understand kW anyway.

Go back to 2009, when those were actually valid concerns

They said the same thing about electronic fuel injection

i will swap one of these into a different car one day. Its going to happen. Just a matter of time. My favorite engine ever

TIMING CHAIN GUIDES

>>m-muh VANOS SOLENOIDS
God fuck those so fucking much.

Everyone is having to replace them at like 70k miles. At least it's an easy job.

FERD PUT THE ECHOBOOST IN THE MUSTANG PLS FERD

N54 from the 2006-2009/10 E9X 335.. This thing can put out over 650whp from the factory without needing any internal mods!! Its all forged from factory except for the latest of the batch before they switched to the N55 which also is good but isnt forged.
There are people that have hit over 800whp with this also without opening and that is almost unheard of for a consumer engine.

Now to achive this you gotta ofc put some money into it,, Upgraded twins will get you to about 550Whp with a nice even pull all the way. Want more? Well then you gotta go single turbo, bit more laggy but the power potential is alot higher.

m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=945034

Whelp, you sure know how to pick'em.

Where are you getting these 300+ hp and ft/lb ratings from?

>N54
If you like fuel pumps blowing up just from looking at the engine the wrong way. N55 is pretty fucking god-tier though.

Completely inferior to the K20A1

We are talking engines here.. but the fuel pumps are covered by warranty after a lawsuit. Most people use upgraded pumps anyways that these HP levels
