This is a Phase 3 XY GTHO Australian Ford Falcon

This is a Phase 3 XY GTHO Australian Ford Falcon.
Aussie call this the fastest and most poweful 4 door (saloon) in the world in 1971 with top of 142mph.

I'm ashamed being Australian when we have a sick fascination with 4 door taxis. The Fordophiles are truly an interesting breed.

People believe a speedo is accurate in reading speed. One of these falcons doing 140mph on a public road would be a death trap and would probably fall over before getting there.

There's no way this car would have been the fastest 4 door of its time when the Yanks had bigger engines with more horsepower and rare factory ordered high horse engines in 4 door cars prior to 1971

>I'm ashamed being Australian
Fuck off to Yankee land then cunt

>claim to be Australian
>fail to grasp island gigantism

Same reason our spiders are bigger and snakes deadlier, natives dumber and rednecks more aggressive.

It's just something in the air, cunt.

Also the Phase IV would've been even crazier.

>Yanks had bigger engines with more horsepower and rare factory ordered high horse engines in 4 door cars prior to 1971
>American muscle car in the 60s
>4 door

There were no 4 door american muscle cars back then. They were basically all two doors unless you special ordered something which doesn't count. Plus I wouldn't be surprised the Falcon would be faster.

A 4 door american car with a massive engine back then was some huge landboat that easily weighed 1000+lbs more than the Falcon and was developed for cruising on motorways, not racing

Most muscle cars had big engines and geared for mainly 1/4 mile
The Falcon was most likely geared for top speed

You could order almost any engine in any car. They were factory ordered by the general public. You can order many gear ratios option in cars as well. A 4 door impala wouldn't weigh much more than a 4 door falcon. You will be suprised if you weigh both

Youre retarded kid gtfo outta here
The gthos were street registered race cars

>There's no way this car would have been the fastest 4 door of its time when the Yanks had bigger engines with more horsepower and rare factory ordered high horse engines in 4 door cars prior to 1971

Such as?

Impala weighs about 1800kg
Kys

>You could order almost any engine in any car.
Quite possibly so but they weren't offered as complete packages on the sedans as they were on the 2 doors. Which is the point.

You could buy a Hemi Coronet or something right off the dealer lot
You couldn't get that in the sedan unless you dig through a ton of options lists or special order it

OP you are a dickhead! the ford falcon WAS offered as a coupe in 1967 (XR) at the sydney motor show but the aussie buying public didnt want the car. so ford just added 2 doors.

there was a supercar scare written by now late evan green in the sydney morning herald which killed the faster cars that were comming the article stated: 140mph supercars and highest road toll at the time the govt and all the car companies panicked and axed the cars that were in production for bathurst that year.
and yes the GTHO was the fastest aussie made car you could get. because all the american stuff was on private import list. and unless your last name was packer the average aussie family couldnt afford it.. the engines in all the aussie performance cars of the time came straight from the usa they were only assembled and tuned by local market.
for the record. in nz the charger had better handling than the GTHO did on the smaller nz racetracks

>Fastest Saloon in the world
O'rly? Definitely not...
>Pic related, '68 Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.3
Americans' may not have been doing it, but Germans' sure were

Fuck off you stupid bogan cunt, you're just pissed that it shits on your rustbucket of a kingswood

Is there anything worse than a contrarian faggot who cluelessly hates on god machines for no reason other than their vb drinking uncle likes them? Ive noticed shit cunts like this popping up all over the place
Fuck off to thailand you melbournian poofta cunt

>One of these falcons doing 140mph on a public road

yer, nice try american

The phase 4 was the fastest you retard

It had enough power the government literally banned them, those that survived are now well into 6 figures possibly 7

>also
>australia was the only country that made boats in the 70's and 80's

Not sure if bait or dumb cunt.

Yeah what a piece of shit

The Aussies made more power from the 351 Clevo, a motor designed for breathing well, and high revs, than the yanks could ever manage.

Wow that looks standard. No argument.

they beat anything the USA managed to shit out in the '70s.

streetmachine.com.au/features/1504/the-true-story-of-ho-down-the-hume

The speedo was well past 140MPH. It was the tacho the gave away the true speed. These things were radar proven to be the fastest 4 door production car in the world in 71.

No not pissed. Just sick of people's bullshit. I own many different brand cars. I don't bat for one team. I own fords , chevs, oldsmobile. Holdens. Mercedes. Lincoln ect.

They where very quick cars for the time, it doesn't take much to trick up the 351 to 5-600hp revving to about 6-7000rpm, course they couldn't stop more than twice in a hurry and didn't turn very well like everything else of the period. Point is, they where a race ready production sedan that people tuned up, threw the back seat and spare tyre out of (no rollcage!) and went straight to the track in- plus they won races, quite a lot of them.

Won against imported Camaros, Mustangs, Boss 302's, Mini Coopers, Alfas, the local Torana and Charger coupes of the time as well.
If they where not good, they wouldn't have won, it really is just as simple as that and historical race results speak for themselves.

>revving to about 6-7000rpm
They did this from factory.

>They couldn't stop more than twice in a hurry and didn't turn very well like everything else of the period.
Pretty good being ~25 seconds a lap slower on Bathurst than current V8 supercars, using old school tyres.

the car that moffat won only had a roll bar if that because they were production cars

That was the thing I noticed, a fella I knew had a Ph3 and it had a factory 8000rpm tach in it and depending on the cam it would develop most of its power and torque from about 3000rpm- then carry it through to about 7000rpm. Which is pretty fucking cool for something made in the 1970's and seeing a free revving big V8 at full spastic!
It was a lot faster than my 351 XB coupe that's for sure

Australia makes big power very easily. There are thousands of holdens, fords, valiants, etc with mostly standard engines (new heads, camshafts etc and often turbo of course) that make upwards of 1000 hp. Ford australia has a turbo straight six that is one of the easiest and most reliable tuner engines ever, people easily get 400+hp with a quick tune and an exhaust.

So you own at least one of each of those? In Australia, where oldsmobiles and lincolns were never sold, and chevs haven't been sold since the early 50's?

I call bullshit.

Australian cars were always just parts bin American/European cars that were kept alive with tariffs. The only reason why the GTHO was #1 in 1971 is because the Americans slapped a shitload of emission regulations in the early 70s, while Australia didn't adopt said regulations until the late 70s.

The australian automotive industry was always doomed because Americans always purposefully shut us out of their market. Who else in the world is going to buy a big, cheapish, rwd sedan of questionable worksmanship?

> in nz the charger had better handling than the GTHO did on the smaller nz racetracks
Unless it was sporting a completely different front end design, bullshit. The Torsion suspended Chryslers are atrocious though a corner, even with a lighter six in the front,
