So I bought this car a year-and-a-half ago for 2k.
Guess how much money I have spent on it since then
Keep in mind that I am not a smart man

about an extra 2k prolly

bout 350

higher than that
spent that much just on the AC

Hopefully no more than $500.

Tree fiddy

bout 3500?

tell us what youve done

over 5 grand for sure.

7500 because head gasket and other small shit.

full engine rebuild with new pistons and heads
(HG had been blown with massive rust)
engine mounts
wheel bearings + control arms
hood struts
new radiator + oil cooler lines
all new hoses
AC conversion
Tranny pan drop and clean
all new fluids

>He fixed up the AC on an old shitbox
cackling_wenches.jpg

You could be like me and have a permanent sexy shorts and t-shirt tan from driving around in a hot summer with no AC

$6234?

that's frighteningly specific. It's been around 6100

Hahaha, man thats a lot of money. I hope you actually really enjoy the car though.

...

>spending 6100 on a car worth 2 grand tops

I'll never get people.

yeah
I do love it. Like a comfy living room flying down the highway

Still need to do the struts (rears are air-ride and have punctured long ago) and the headliner is pillowy in a couple places

thats whattsup.

Think of it this way, lots of new SUVs, sports cars and trucks lose 2-3k in value every year. If you love the car, it's money well spent.

thanks anons. I just hate look of newer cars with their forward stance and tiny windows and cramped interior. My previous vehicle was an old Buick Park Avenue that I loved to death, but it was my first car and beat to hell before I got it, rust everywhere and clearcoat basically gone.

Guess how much I spent on this fucking truck?

>bought it to just have a fun truck to drive around
>spent a ton on the suspension
>began dealing with the rust, ended up looking like shit, needed a repaint
>get frame straightened to find it's shit and needs to be replaced
>find a donor truck with a good frame
>begin a nut and bolt restoration
>got carried away buying parts
>got in too deep and had to finish it
>shit kept coming up

Ended up doing

>all new wiring
>all new suspension
>all new front end and steering
>powder coated frame
>rebuilt high compression 1969 chevelle 454ci engine, weiand pro steet supercharger
>Muncie M22 with brand new clutch and rebuilt gear box
>new 12 bolt rear end with 3:73 gears
>new deluxe gauge pack, all interior restored
>4 wheel disc brakes
>new paint
>all air conditioning components restored
>all oem gm parts

It's honestly fucked and I have stress over how deep I am in it. I did almost all of the work myself except the drivetrain rebuild, spraying the paint on the finished body, setting up the supercharger and the wiring.

It doesn't sound like you're bitching about spending 8k on a 2k car, so I can't really say anything. So long as you love it, god speed user! Hope it lasts you another 300k.

How do you not see a head being rusty enough to blow a gasket?

OP fell in love with the first barely decent piece of ass he ever saw.

I've probably put like 2k into the old girl

Holy fuck post pics

they didn't blow due to rust, they blew due to an overheat, and then coolant (or I guess water since I bet it was needing a lot) leaked into the block over some long period and rusted it out.

I wasn't able to tell it had a HG leak because they simply plugged up the overflow bottle hose before I bought it so it was just peeing onto the ground. (you can't see the bottom of the overflow bottle in this without removing the battery and I had no reason to believe it was a problem since there was coolant in it)
I was dumb

9-10k easy

godspeed man

5k for the truck originally

and then 38k and a lot of time.

Post engine bay

oh man

I'm so sorry

well now I don't feel so bad

holy shit i was gonna post 46 grand but i thought it was way to high.

How can you not like AC user
cool refreshing air gliding over your skin as you travel in complete comfort over the parched landscape with literally no effort, absolutely unaffected by hellish burning star above you.

A true testament to Man's hubristic defiance of the natural order. It is wonderful.

Could have had a POS Civic for that price but instead he has a well sorted comfy Caddy.

I just got the 4-note trumpet horns working tonight, it's fabulous

Guess how much I bought then spent on this piece of shit. 98, 2.2 5 speed 198k miles.

3k buy and 2k spent

Bought it for 400 dollars. Spent under 100 for a new dash, and some trim pieces at LKQ. Runs pretty good just need to do injector o rings.

Moral of the story is don't be a cuck like OP
