Don't do this ever, unless you want your steering wheel to lock up. Just put it in neutral

Ive tried it at about 35mph and somehow the engine kept spinning even though it was an auto so power steering worked.

Here's an actual story that happened to me a few months back

Benefit of a/t is a park gear, and a "soft" reverse.
Throw it in R, hit accelerator, slow down, throw it in P, stop. The torque converter actually deadens the jolt to the tranny from suddenly hitting reverse. In an m/t not only does this method threaten your tranny, it could also hurt the engine itself, as all that backwards torque (engine braking) hits your crankshaft.

I set the EBC on a friend's FC on high boost one time to play (he's not a carfag and drove it like a grandma). Massively fast, probably over 400 even without functioning meth injection. I was on a short road with a T at the end. Grabbed second gear, then third. When I shifted into third the throttle never came off the floor, it was stuck under the carpet. A second and a half passes and it's already bouncing off the limiter. Only time in my life I put both feet to the floor in a panic stop. Fumbled around and killed the ignition.
