What do you guys think about the Ford Probe? As I understand, all the mechanicals were designed by Mazda while Ford only designed the body and slapped their logo on it.

I appreciate both generations for their looks (muh popups) and am thinking about picking up this one near me. Thoughts?

V6 a gud

Just buy a real 240sx lmao

seems like a good deal

i've always wondered about these

Didn't get enough action in the CL thread, eh faggot?

These are so cheap where I'm at, looks kinda cool but I'm not 100%. Are they good/can they be worked on at all?

Youre gonna spend only 1-2k more on a rwd 240sx with infinite aftermarket support and internet lore for diy fixes

isn't this the car Reddit likes?

I could touch myself to this car.

>only 1-2k more on a rwd 240sx

I'm sorry, what fantasy land are you living in where there are clean, non-molested s13s for 2-3k?

I found a bone-stock, relatively clean, low miles s13 near me last week and test drove it. The handling was sloppy and the whole thing felt a bit cheap to be honest. Granted, the car was still on its original suspension and clutch at ~140k miles but I've heard firsthand from owners the s13 is just a floppy chassis in general.

I don't plan to modify it, so I don't really care about availability of aftermarket parts. It's not an incredibly rare or obscure vehicle, so I'm sure there are internet communities with DIY guides for this car.

Dunno, I don't browse Reddit so I couldn't tell you. Seems likely there's at least a few people who like it in any given community.

Tell me about it. I kinda like the first generation better but I hardly ever see those around.

You can redo the suspension for $500. Buy a beater for under 5k. Fix it up as you go. Have am actual car worth driving instead of a piece of shit Ford knockoff. The reason whatever you testdrove felt sloppy is because the bushings are blown out. If you're acrtually serious about long term ownership and not sitting pretty at stop lights hoping ppl will half double take at your car before realizing it isnt at the very least an Integra then man up and make the minor increase in investment instead of trying to be some sort of special snowflake.

I've known multiple people with these, fun cars that sound fantastic when uncorked.

That 2.5L V6 in the second gen GT models sounds fucking amazing.

pic-semi-related. A 1991-1996 Ford Escort with a KL-DE swap from a Ford Probe.

>Have am actual car worth driving
Subjective. I think many cars are worth driving. I couldn't care less about what other people think of my car, I only care if I enjoy it.

>piece of shit Ford knockoff
It's a Mazda MX-6 with a Ford badge. I've driven an MX-6 which was a pretty nice car for a cheap, mildly sporty FWD coupe.

Having owned cars of both layouts, I will give you that RWD is generally more fun to drive than FWD, but so far you haven't provided any real reasons why a 240sx is preferable. It seems like you're just shitposting.

Neat! Thanks for sharing.

It is literally made as a cheap way to leech sales from the infinitely superior s13 hatchback.

What you really need to buy is a dodge neon if you are actually serious at this point and not fucking trolling like the majority of this forum

It was going to replace the Mustang at one point and was in development before Nissan ever released the 240/180.

Stop being retarded.

It was designed as a low-cost alternative to compete with the s13, yes. What's your point? You still haven't told me how the s13 is "infinitely superior". I do think the s13 looks a bit better than the Probe but they suffer from a heavy rice tax and they're almost all abused.

I've wanted to own an s13 for a long time but after test-driving one I was rather let down. I have no interest in a Neon, or any Chrysler for that matter.

I had a '96 V6, which is a Mazda engine. It was not a very well driving car, with horrible over steer. You could literally break lose the back end just merging on and off the freeway.

How does the handling compare to an Integra?

>It is literally made as a cheap way to leech sales from the infinitely superior s13 hatchback

No.

youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&persist_app=1&v=xM_88Nv3ulc

>lol using top gear to try and disprove a fact

All probes used a Mazda engine, except some 90-92 LX models which had the option of a Ford "Vulcan" V6 from the Taurus.

I've never heard of a FWD car with an oversteer issue.

Not sure, I've never driven an Integra. Four different generations of Civics, but no Integras.

I hadn't seen that, thanks for sharing. I can't believe Clarkson praised the 4th gen Prelude's looks, though. That thing was easily the ugliest of the Preludes.

>video clearly shows the probes direct competition

>S13 production '88-'94
>MK2 Probe production '93-'97
Yes, I'm sure it was purely to steal sales for basically a year even though they weren't competitors, The B13 SE-R and Maxima would be Nissans entries in the sporty FF segment.

Again, stop being retarded.

No problem.

It wasn't prettier then the 3rd gen that's for sure, but at the time compared to the other cars on the road it wasn't bad by any means. Also
