What human invention has caused the most net harm (as in harm that exceeds the amount of benefit) to humanity as a whole?

>Christians don't charge interest as per religious law
>Jews are free to do it, a great deal of them thus start working in banking
>When finally Christians are allowed to do it, the Jews have already been at it for centuries and have built their financial empires

Marx was a symptom of his time
Also, stalinism and leninism doesn't equal marxism

Jet engines.

Given that we are stuck on Earth for the long haul because none of you chucklefucks care enough about the species to fund NASA, thermonuclear bombs are the worst because eventually we will use them.

>people blame Jews for this and not themselves

Metallurgy.

I actually implied I blame the Catholic church for being so retarded to disallow it for Christians, yet allow it for the minority of ethnic religious people who think themselves above others and have been hated through history. I mean, what could go wrong?

That's not at all how it worked, Christians were allowed to charge interest for loans they gave to Jews, and vice versa.

Love how western Marxists constantly change their rhetoric:

>1917: Bolshevik revolution happens
>IT FINALLY HAPPENED, IT'S REALLY HERE! THE PEOPLE OVERTHREW THEIR BOURGEOISE MASTERS, THEY BROKE THEIR CHAINS, THEY ARE FINALLY FREE! COMMUNISM IS JUST AROUND THE CORNER! PRAISE LENIN!

>1930s: west learns about Stalin's atrocities
>B-BUT WE CAN'T KNOW FOR SURE, IT HAS TO BE WESTERN PROPAGANDA, GLORIOUS COMMUNISTS WOULD NEVER DO SUCH A THING, EVEN G. B. SHAW WENT TO THE USSR AND SAID THERE IS NO HUNGER OR POVERTY

>1991: USSR collapses
>YOU SEE, LENIN AND STALIN WEREN'T MARXISTS, MARX SPECIFICALLY SAID A SOCIETY HAS TO BE INDUSTRIALIZED AND RUSSIA WASN'T YET FULLY INDUSTRIALIZED, A-AND VANGUAR PARTY ISN'T THE DICTATORSHIP OF THE PROLETARIAT etc

Gun Powder.

North America

And the Jews were a small minority, charging interest to the majority of inhabitants.

I am going with money.

Why? Money makes things easier compares to simple bartering which is borderline stupid.

Monsanto/Dow's Agent Orange.

Caused no benefit whatsoever to humanity.

Meanwhile, the highly toxic and dangerous herbicide was used to starve millions of people. An estimated 3 million people suffered illnesses from exposure to it, and over 1 million were permanently disfigured or disabled in Vietnam alone.

Children in the areas where Agent Orange was used have multiple health problems, including cleft palate, mental disabilities, hernias, and extra fingers and toes. In the 1970s, high levels of dioxin were found in the breast milk of South Vietnamese women, and even in the blood of U.S. military personnel who had served in Vietnam. Dioxin is a highly toxic, environmentally persistent pollutant that causes serious illness, cancer, developmental defects, etc.

By the way, did you see that "environmentally persistent" part? It means that it doesn't go away very easily. If a plant contaminated with dioxin gets eaten by an animal, then that animal is also contaminated. This can work its way up the food chain into you and I. By the way, it wasn't just Vietnam that was polluted - even places that manufactured the stuff right here in the US are also contaminated.

The reason this destruction, pollution, and devastation of the Vietnamese environment and people were supposedly "justified"? The US wanted to kill the crops which it claimed were being used to feed guerrillas. Turns out they weren't, nearly all of the now unusable arable land went toward feeding the common population of Vietnam. Millions of innocent civilians starved for nothing.

Agent Orange is the single most harmful invention in human history compared to any benefits yielded, i.e. none.

If the US had won in Vietnam it would have been a net good.

They did win. They achieved what they set out to do which was to curb the spread of radical communist. At most i'd call it a draw or a phyricc victory but they certainly didn't lose.

They only had to pull out due to media pressure and human rights groups getting their knickers in a twist.

Except they didn't achieve that.

Nah id go with usury
If marxism was older then you'd probably be right

But usury is awesome.

>inb4 doesn't understand economics

>usury awesome
For bankers but not 99.9% of people

I'm guessing you don't know anyone with a mortgage.

We did not win Vietnam.
Theres a reason nobody in america learns about it and thats because they feel like shit for losing it.
Whoever loses a war is automatically the bad guy.

3,500,000 dead gooks says we win. Red China and the USSR contained and degenerating says we win. Gooks doing my wife's nails for cheap says we win.

>Turns out they weren't
So, they did not know at the time? Then cool hindsight morals, bro.

Everyone in an enemy country is a possible foe. Diminishing the number of possible enemies is of no benefit to you?

Imagine being in the army and some higher up comes in saying
>Yeah, you could have been fighting some malnourished desperate peasants innawoods for a couple of months
>But no, we are good human beings
>instead we are going to choose to let YOU be endangered even more
>because it is the right thing to do
>not that we would have any benefit from ensuring your safe return home, right? haha

Now you need to know that I don't really know much more about Agent Orange apart from hearing the name before and the wall of text you posted. So, if your summary on the matter was incomplete feel free to correct me. But as you presented it, there definitely is a real benefit to raising the chances of bringing your troops home safely.

Also a free bump for the thread since the topic is fairly interesting and I already learned something new.

Most conflicts have 2 or more sides to it. So, there will always be winners and losers.

What numbers and values would you provide for a "net harm or benefit"?
Material costs? Human lives? Indoctrination?
Do you weigh that against substitutes/alternatives (chemicals, methods, machines, etc.)?

Agent orange is a meme and the rules of war say that literally all harm done to 'non-combatants' and legitimate non-combatants is the fault of vietkong for using them as shields.

nuclear and chemical weaponry

STEM

see

I would agree with chemical weaponry.
Nuclear bombs have ironically stopped any major wars from happening between superpowers at the very least.
Chemical is just cruel.

we won the war against communism but not the Vietnam war, Vietnam was taken over by communists

Chemical weapons are a drop in the bucket compared to the deaths caused by delicious firearms, and their even deadlier uncle, artillery.

Besides your comparison is unreasonable, you aren't using per capita rates.
It's not our fault that capitalism allows for a food surplus and increased population. Step up your game commie.

Well I was going to say the US won. See paris peace accords. But the. We lost it by bot funding the replacement materiel for the south.

No, no loans and interests are just evil. It is nit like they give a wayvfor ordinary people town houses cars or get a substantial education.

Capitalism isn't an invention.

Mass media. Changing the way the populace thinks through the media is much more effective than through the use of force.

Capitalism is just the name we use when individual people have protected property rights and are free to trade with one another.

>"Capitalism was liberated!!1 XD"

You think that Capitalism in the natural state of society, and that all societies will tend towards capitalism. Marx believed that societies would naturally tend towards communism. You're the same, and you're both wrong.

Thank you, American libertarians, for ruining Russia in the 1990s. Thank you for imposing your neo-classical hogwash of static equilibrium markets on the rest of the world!

A peace treaty != victory

Especially when the peace treaty wasn't followed or enforced by either side.

So Capitalism has never existed then?

>humans invented tobacco
0/10 apply yourself

I don't really think that's fair. There were tons of Marxists that opposed the SU, not to mention the other socialists and communists that literally revolted against the SU. And some Marxists still believe that the SU was entirely good, while others believe it was literally the worst thing to happen to leftist thinking.

Yes that is why I said we lost when we stopped funding the replacement materiel for the south.

5 and 6 are true though. Even if in meme format.

Your first sentence is still incorrect.

No. The first claim does not equate with the second fact.

>but they are true

The democrats stopping the funding doesn't change the fact we still lost. Do you not understand that?

#6
Signing a peace treaty != victory

Go fuck yourself hippy, nukes prevented WW3 you fucktard

Also British used agent orange in Malaysia to great effect

Our goal was to stop the communist north from taking over the non communist south. We achieved that when the Paris peace accords were signed. Part of the agreement was that the not try to take over the south. We didnt expect them to honor that obligation. So we agreed to fund the south in their materiel so they could continue to defend themselves. When we stopped funding the south they were unable to defend themselves.

The north took over the south. Our goal which we had previously achieved was lost. We then lost the war.

Fuck off faggot

Very underrated post.
