>4age 20v with itbs >2 way lsd >coilover suspension >rust professionally repaired >recent respray >well kept interior >bride seats
The car seems very nice, drives great and I have the money for it but I just can't help feeling like I'm paying too much for a 30 year old meme Corolla.
I like Initial D too, but that is way too much money to ask for what is essentially a tuned Corolla Are the import fees and taxes included in that?
Easton Rivera
>not buying restored USDM corolla with a BEAMS swap for the same price >"I'm a special snowflake because RHD XDDD"
Josiah Smith
That's an AE85 dumbass.
Lucas Kelly
Import fees are like $2-3k shipping overseas, taxes maybe plus paying the importer some cash to look through the auction cars meeting your wants
Jaxson Hughes
Yes, yes it is.
Not even a Trueno
Asher Wilson
Also the wait is like waiting for SAL shipping
Andrew Bell
No import fees or taxes. It's 11.5k drive away.
Lol I live in a RHD country m8 so I'm not trying to be cool
Liam Wood
>No import fees or taxes. It's 11.5k drive away.
Eh usually previously imported cars are treated poorly than they were in Japan. So many abused Skylines here but with that price for a 86, it's utter rice tax honestly.
Carson Thomas
Also for that much, you could get an Evo IV or a JZX100
Aiden Bell
Dude, it's a Corolla, I have one and love it, but for nearly $12k USD you're an idiot if you buy it. Pic is mine.
Bidding starts at 180000 yen for that one. Even after auction price and shipping fees and crap, it still might be cheaper than the 11,000 dollar one you found. It would also probably be in better condition too
Jordan Scott
It's a 20th anniversary GT350. It's a historically significant car in addition to being fast as fuck, stock. Just posting examples of what kind of 80s Detroit iron you can buy with $10k but that was before I realized OP was a furreigner so I have no fucking idea what an AE86 is worth in his fantastic kingdom.
Aaron Turner
Also you can tell them what your limit is This dude imports cars from Japan to Australia and has good info youtube.com/watch?v=3Ti6MrXkVG4
Ryder Robinson
I have no issues with the car, I've checked it out and it's honestly in great condition. It's the price I have an issue with. I feel like it's overpriced and wanted to confirm. I've thought about going this route but it isn't worth it. The cheapest car that sold in japan recently went for 365000 jpy and for me to import that it would end up costing 9.6k. So yes it would be cheaper but it defiantly wouldn't be better than the one i'm looking at.
Elijah King
*Definitely not defiantly wtf
Hudson Thompson
>The cheapest car that sold in japan recently went for 365000 jpy and for me to import that it would end up costing 9.6k What The fees should be three thousand tops, not five thousand
Parker Wright
Yeah and a lot of these imported cars can have hidden rust so knowing the one you're looking at has had it removed is good. Also you aren't buying it sight unseen. I say go for it, if you keep it in good condition for a while the value is only going to go up anyway.
David Nguyen
> I feel like it's overpriced and wanted to confirm. If you feel like you are able to pay for it off and still have sufficient funds left in the bank after, okay. you could try haggling the seller if don't feel like the price isn't fair. Could be his country's currency being shite, like australia and canada's or the Importer charges more for service
Kevin Martinez
Depends on where you are. In the United States, that's pretty bloody expensive. In Australia or New Zealand you'd be lucky to get one that cheap in that sort of state.
Landon Martin
Hey fellow DK bro!
Honestly OP, if you love it and it's been restored to showroom quality and the blacktop functions well, then go for it, I'd buy it but I'm a manchild at heart.
Matthew Myers
better than being a furry fag
Asher Peterson
No popups.........
feels bad man,
Dylan Cook
are you retarded? do not pay almost 12k for a fucking corolla tofu boy
Owen Murphy
You could get a 996 or C5 for that price.
Kayden White
hmmmmm 30 year old corolla or an s2k what should you buy.. tough decision!
Carter Torres
I'm in Australia. I didn't realise they were so cheap in America, so I take it that's why most people are saying it's expensive lel. S2000s are a ridiculous price in Australia, I'd love one but I can't justify the price.
Owen Gomez
I would not pay the money is it already imported, or do you have to deal with that shit as well?
Kayden Wright
If its the one in the picture then no.
Angel Jenkins
>Australia
Just buy a Silvia. There's a shit load of S13-15s floating around everywhere
Carter Walker
Value for money? no probably not. But you'll have a fairly unique car that is absolutely adored by most , that will be reliable and fun and not too slow with he 20v
Carson Long
$6000 would be too much for one let alone 11 grand
Ayden Bell
If I had to drive a slow jap shitbox, I'd go for that first generation MR2
also >buying modified cars at all >not buying stock then restoring and modifying it yourself
Kayden Allen
Why not just buy a modern corolla Same shit
Brody Powell
if i had 12k to spend i could easily build a w58, 7.5 diff, 20v AE86 hatch that didnt have fake brides and taiwanese coilovers.
Jackson Ross
>no popups
Cameron Sanders
Id rather be a weeb that a furfag
Julian Lewis
I don't think you have any idea what a GT350 is.
Camden Lewis
Already got one (: Mr2 is my other option instead of an ae86
Grayson Davis
Where does it say it's modified you mouth breather. You have no idea what that car is, do you eurotrash?
Daniel Moore
You can't stop the toyshills nigga! It's like a nightmare, the more you want it to end, the deeper it gets!!!!!!
Samuel Edwards
that picture is an ae85, Itsuki pls
Kayden Scott
Nope, it has a 3LCU so it's techincally not an 85. Although, some rare versions were fitted with the 2A-FE but that was only in Polynesian Markets. You can find a AE92 with the 4AC in the unleaded SE model in North America but they had sucky cams, otherwise you're basically stuck with the 3A-FE but that's only for 85-86 model year AE85s
Robert Diaz
What about the CE model with the 7AFE, don't forget about that
Adrian Diaz
Oh, haha my bad. I am so embarassed, I didn't at all think about the 7AFE good call!I'm looking for a nice XV20 Chaser which performance package would you recommend?
Angel Anderson
Definitely get the AT190 Starlet with the 7A-GTE option. I believe it was the TLU options package IIRC
Justin Rodriguez
The TLU package included body colored mirrors and front bumper lip. There was also chrome exhaust tips on it but it was not officially part of the options pac ;>)
William Cooper
7A-GTE?? Wait, was that the one with TVIS and the twin scoll CT26 turbo? Or maybe it was the beams, not sure does anyone know? I can't sleep tonight until I know for sure
Tyler Mitchell
No you idiot the 85 didnt have the TEMS and the 86 series 3 DID. Get your shit straight. Also the kouki lights models all had TEMS but onyl about 20% were shipped with 4A-LCEU rare beams A-series.
And some were not equipped with AC either
Xavier Ortiz
$11,500 US comes out to around what, like $14,000 AU? Still quite a good price for a Japanese market AE86 here. Won't see many decent ones for less than about $16k.
Noah Robinson
>And some were not equipped with AC either No, I meant 4AC engine, not air conditioning kek ;>)
Ayden Rogers
16K? Wow, that's a deal and a half. I'd pay over 70 grand for some old Toyota ecoshitbox. Just wait until people find out how awesome they are, the price is gonna double!
Adrian Ramirez
You would pay 80k or more for a rare af86 with the DOHC 3LGTEU option. I'd whore my mother out for old ass toybox 2 be quite honest with you family
Gavin Nguyen
They're worth what they're worth, to the people who want them. How reasonable is it that a Mk I Escort can demand upwards of $30k US? How reasonable is it that boomers can sell a matching numbers 1970 Challenger in Plum Crazy Purple for $150k?
Owen Richardson
Why the fuck would you want a meme Corolla when you have a mint s15
Thomas Butler
I'm not arguing that there are stupid motherfuckers in this world, stop giving me examples of them. Deep fiends really really really value black tar heroine but I'm not going to spend my day spamming black tar heroine on free anonymous message boards, even if they stopped making black tar heroine in the 80s.......... dumb nigger
Noah Torres
Lol, Levin fronts are sought after in the States and will fetch a premium
Don't listen to these guys, they don't know what they're talking about. Yes, there are better options for the money, but these are only going to go up in price as the years go by. Don't compare pic related 86 to POS car, lol... This Levin is tastefully done and probably took more than $11K to get it to where its at
Mason Anderson
>solid >rear >axle literally cant turn
Nathan Wright
blue marks have a solid rear. please dont associate solid axles with american cars, they cant turn even with independent suspension >see all of gms nurburgring attempts
Owen King
>somehow gets triggered by American cars nigger what is automotive insecurity a thing?
Alexander Brown
>is automotive insecurity a thing? idk, but automotive inferiority is a thing, see gm products
Caleb Bell
>talks about automotive inferiority >in an AE86 thread
the irony lol. you can have your solid axle corolla, ill take the corvette thanks :^)
Jeremiah White
enjoy your leafpsrings i guess
Joshua Gray
>The inaugural AE85 model's standard equipment included Toyota's 3A-U carburetor-equipped SOHC motor
he says it has 4AGE dumbass
Zachary Rodriguez
>fast as fuck what is the fastest car you've ever driven, to make you think that a stock Mustang from 1984 is 'fast as fuck'?
Jesus man. I'd probably want to kill myself if I ever thought that car is, in any way, fast.
Mason Bell
Just go for it man dont let these poorfags tell you not to.
Luke Watson
So this is a Craigslist thread right?
Brandon Miller
>I'd probably want to kill myself Well we can rule out carbon monoxide in the garage because you don't have a car.
Kayden Evans
>you don't have a car keep telling yourself that, bud
Kayden Wright
Well better get that loaf of bread and a camera my dude.
Justin Cook
It was more the historical significance but by 1984 standards it was fast as fuck. Faster than an AE86 for damn sure. If you want actually fast as fuck take a look at the pic in the post you were replying to.
The point is that for the money OP is spending on a ho-hum middle of the road corolla he could have a Mustang that has actual historical significance that will long outlast some anime meme OR a 750hp monster...
But that's in the land of the free. I imagine an engine like pic related is a capital offense down under.
James King
11.5k is alot to be dumping on shit mexicans buy here in los angeles after saving enough money buy mowing a few lawns
its your choice though OP do whatever makes you happy
Cooper Watson
Been down this road before m8
That engine in those pics might be plenty powerful, but a stock 1984 Mustang is the opposite of powerful.
Grayson Jackson
If a stock '84 Mustang is the opposite of powerful then what's a 1.8 liter fucking Corolla? LoL
Nobody would modify that gt350 anniversary car but just for the sake of argument let's say I was an absolute madman. You go ahead and start putting money into OP's Corolla - literally any amount of money you want and I'll take that same amount of money and put into that carbed 302. Are you such a weeb that you want to engage in some kind of mental gymnastics about the result? Are you going to resort to some weak, argument that the corolla is more beautiful? Will you attempt to suggest that garage kept, 20,000 mile show car is less structurally sound purely by virtue of being American?
I really fail to see any argument to be made here
Michael Torres
Nigga I'm not arguing that a Corolla is fast. Nor am I saying that GT350 isn't historically significant.
Literally all I pointed out was this >fast as fuck, stock.
Chase Martin
Buy something else why do you even want it? You are going to have buyers remorse after 10 minutes of owning it
