Who else on Veeky Forums is excited for the release of the Toyota S-FR...

Who else on Veeky Forums is excited for the release of the Toyota S-FR? Toyota genuinely looks set to release it and I'm fucking excited, and will definitely be getting my hands on one as my first new car

So far the specs are:
Overall Length - 3,990 mm
Overall Width - 1,695 mm
Overall Height - 1,320 mm
Wheelbase - 2,480 mm
128bhp
109 ft/lb torque
980kg
Six-speed manual tranny

This is basically going to be a prettier, more modern cappuccino, and may be the first ever car Veeky Forums can all agree on liking

can someone translate this shit to american pls

it's small, light, and has low hp

>Sub 2200 car that is smaller than a Miata
>You can stop being retarded now

2160.5 lbs

Extremely light. At this size and weight, this car is going to be a go kart, and 128hp for a (rumored) 1.5l engine is pretty cool

The rear on that trim is sorta ugly
it's priced around 10k usd in japan, if the race trim has anything more than a body kit and at 15k then I would buy it

I've read around 12k so far, in Australia I think this will end up being around 17k, and for the amount of fun you will get out of this car I think that's a bargain

How readily will this take the engine from something like a litre bike?

Hopefully it will take Hyabusa engines easier than a fucking LS
Pushrods in this car would be sacrilege REEEEEEE

Why would you do that for what, like 30 more horsepower?

>less displacement
>less torquey bike motor where all the power is up top
>around the same horsepower

Why the fuck would you downgrade???
Stupid fucking millenials.

Anyone know if this will hit the US market?

Is it coming to the US? If not don't care all i know that is for japan only so far

HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

>and 128hp for a (rumored) 1.5l engine is pretty cool
But Mazda already does that for the 1.5L Miata

I know, but I mean combined with this car itself. Going to be an absolutely awesome little go kart

Where did you read about the aussie price m8?

>Toyota genuinely looks set to release it and I'm fucking excited

source?

>the us literally can't get any cheap proper fun cars do to
>soccer mom safety
>no one else in the world cares emissions

wtf

Seconded, need source so I can justify this premature boner

I'll see what I can find but I'm not sure. I'm sure this won't be a RHD only affair, it's aiming to compete directly with the Miata so to me that makes me think it will hit US shores, where the mx5 is fairly popular

> Veeky Forums actually believes this car will find its way on murrican or europoor streets and will pass all those safety regulations

I guess you guys also believe in santa claus and unicorns

Im ready, we need more "miata killers"

Give me a moment lads

>it will hit US shores, where the mx5 is fairly popular

It would also gain about 300 lbs

In the article the price in Japan is said to be $12500, checked the exchange rate and it ends up being around 16.5k, but taking into account our shitty dollar, I'm assuming something like 17k

speedhunters.com/2016/01/gazoo-racing-toyota-s-fr-racing-concept/
>But seeing that Toyota’s Gazoo Racing arm has gone to great lengths in creating this2016 Tokyo Auto Salonshowpiece, it’s fair to assume that this carwillhappen. Well, at least astreet car version, most likelypowered bya direct injected variantof the 1.5L Corolla motor, anyway.

...

It looks like something a faggot would buy after trashing his S2000 in a ditch.

Asians can't drive. They also can't design cars worth a shit.

that race concept sfr would be a fucking great track car, not to mention the ANGRY FACE

combine that with the new supra and toyota is back to the enthusiast world baby

>This is literally the corvette attempting to keep up with the S-FR

>GM fags are literally already in damage control and they havent even been cucked by the S-FR yet
KEK!!

Aside from the rear end, I think that concept is awesome. if it really comes to fruition Toyota will be straight back to the top for car enthusiasts

>Even slower than the toyobaru
>Even less power than the Miata
nnnnnnope

>Same power as 1.5 Miata (2016)
>30kg (15 pounds) lighter
Yyyyyep

how am I going to fit my yellow number plate on this S FR

>Barely lighter than a corolla
>same price as a used corolla

it's like taking the rear seats out of a corolla but RWD

might as well buy an AE86 and swap that to break 130hp

because it's a cheap shitbox aka "tuner car" for why not projects

Because there are literally a thousand better motors to swap in, k swap, aba swap, 1.8t, vr6 etc

You're not going to win any races unless you race within the shitbox class

might as well go for the novelty

learn it you lazy burger

>races
lol I don't race, I have fun fur myself.
(Or anybody that wants to get in the passenger seat)

1. this car is not coming to the US
2. it'll probably be a japan-exclusive

Sounds like what someone swapping in a bike engine would say

I want one buy I financed a scion in 2014

>putting a shittier engine into a car
>actually wasting money and time to do so
I bet you also stance

Looks cool but I doubt its coming to the US

>doing anything but modifying a car for superior track performance
>"having fun for yourself"
>not being barely a half rung above stance on the ladder of worthwhile uses of time

oh wait you're a stancefag

go kill yourself with a zip tied spring fogt

>0.00L engine
>87whp

>first ever car Veeky Forums can all agree on liking

Have my d/o/ubts famalam
Drop an LS in there maybe.

I thought they were just showing it as a joke

Aren't those almost the same specs as the first gen Miata? Give me that same car with an engine from the 86/BRZ, and I'm interested.

> 128hp for 1.5L is pretty cool
not really, that's econobox tier
but i can't complain, it should be fun anyway

someone make this thing look like kirby

reduction gear my retarded little furry friend

Why bring this up? nothing has been mentioned about it in over a year about it. It will probably end up like the IDX

I doubt it'll pass Japanese safety regs.

...

Yeah, that's not a good car for front plates...

>if you're not racing officially you're wasting your time and money
Lol
Saved that pic too ty

disgusting

>tfw pa doesnt have front plates

Very similar, a bit lighter and a lot cheaper
I'm interested to see a race series come out of these cars as well

Just from the driver.

I'm excited as fuck for this car but I agree with you completely. I've had my hopes dashed before with Honda s660 and I'm not gonna make that mistake again

I AM EXCITED ABOUT TOYOTA MARKETING WHO ELSE LOVES TOYOTA MARKETING CONTRACTOR SOCIAL MEDIA BRANCH?

HOW ABOUT A FREE BUMP COME ON HELP[ A SHILL OUT

>thinking aussie prices are reflective of global prices.

If it's 17k Japanese then it will be half that ontop, so 25k Australian at the least.

...

Its the ultimate mememobile.

like 60 more horsepower and a lot lighter, plus sequential transmission.

and is designed for a third of the load
>but wow i get to press a button to change gears XD

>prettier than a Cappuccino
Good one OP

Why are you pretending it wouldn't be fun to get a 50% power bump while also reducing mass?

Simplest option would just be to run 10 pounds of boost and hope it doesn't blow up. If it does, then the swap happens.

Seriously shouldn't be an issue to get 170-200 wheel horsepower out of that engine with boost.

my god is it finally fucking happening. Toyota got this car SO FUCKING RIGHT. I want it now!

>so fucking right
>128bhp
>probably means 100 or less to the wheels

Yeah man, should be no problem to just double the power on a 13:1 CR engine on a car that isn't even going to exist anyway, just need a turbo and a simple tune

Anyone have an actual source saying this is going into production? The Tokyo motor show was last year and there's been no real updates since. This concept is dead, unfortunately. I was really hoping to pick one up.

imagine ls swapping this fucking thing

that would be SUICIDE

These articles are old cuz. I think you just found out about it and are experiencing the hype we've all already experienced.

Rekt.

TL: It won't be coming here.

It's 12k Japanese, so would be closer to 18k Australian

it would look awesome with first gen mememiata flip lights and stylistics

3angry

Please come to Canada with a sub $18k price tag.

2018 you can just import a brand new one from Japan. Might be good news will stop potential gouging, otherwise this car will start mid to high 20's

Yeah, that's the same Miata that they don't sell in the US because it doesn't have enough power.

>I'm going to compare this 1.5 engine to the 1.5 out of the Miata
>Now that I've been ctfu, I'm going to move goal posts

why is toyota emplyoing retards?
i literally fixed the car in 3 mins

Kill yourself

"A fun, compact sports car that is smaller and lighter than a Miata, that Americans will never get to drive."

if they'd sell it for under 20k, it would be a viable option for a commuter car for me.

>less than 110lb ft
Even if this was a naked bike it would be slower than an SUV

I really don't understand the hype. It's going to accelerate slower than a minivan.

its slower than a sohc d17a2 with less torque

it would look better with full circle headlights like a twingo. actually... someone twingo shop this.

>comparing things to SUVs

well done, you've earned a burger.

>muh acceleration

>128bhp

100hp for the price of a 400hp foxbody? no thanks

>muh cornering
>muh lightness
tell me about your record lap times and all the fun you can have with a 128bhp piece of shit.damn, even my diesel e46 is like a lot faster.

>128hp 1.5L(rumored)

If this shit comes out here better prepare for an engine swap. I think a BEAMS would be suitable

>trying to justify his diesel BMW purchase
