I mean, I guess if you have dex it isn't, but for things like fire surge you're going to be drastically cutting the damage you do without the sage ring since you'll have to roll away far earlier after casting, meaning that it's out for a fraction of the time, meaning you're doing a fraction of the damage.

So on the subject of rings and shit, hows this going to work out? I have no clue how this chime's scaling works. Would I get more sorcery damage if I went 45/35? Alegedly miracles and sorcery benefit from both stats with this, but I'm not entirely sure and I don't need to scale these miracles at all really (35 with great heal would probably always fully heal me).

I just did my first playthrough of Dark Souls 3 as the typical cleric build i do every souls game and i want to try something different, does pyromancy work well for pve or does everything have high fire resist?

Fire is good agaisnt most mobs, and if they are resistant you can switch over to dark pyromancies.

Pyromancy is ridiculous because you get earlier access to it.

To get Chaos Bed Vestiges you have to kill the demon king, while you have to kill at least Logan/Crystal Sage in the Grand Archieves for endgame sorcery. As a cleric you need to kill NK and the soul of lords to get access to the neato spells.

Pyromancers also get access to dark pyromancies after finishing irythil dungeon.

Did I mention that many bosses are vulnerable or at least not resistent to magic?

I don't even know how sorcerers bear through the game.

At the same time spells and miracles scale harder early on compared to pyromancer's which is why you get basically all of them halfway through the game. With the other 2 magic schools you're nuking hollows with basic spells and then once you get the late game stuff you one-shot shit

Make the buff work like GSoJ and have it be blessed weapon. Remove some of the str/dex scaling and up faith enough to increase the overall damage.

on the talk of pyros, anyone else find it neato that str/fai counters pyros, even if just in theory? str/fai gives fire/dark defense, while pyros will generally lack vit/end for the physical/lightning. paladins smiting heretics something something

40/40 is best, 45/35 will do less. But if you can you might want to have 45 int either by going to 125 or rearranging stats for CSS

I honestly don't see sage ring on pyromancers having that much impact.
Pyromancies already cast ridiculously fast compared to sorcery/miracles.
