I actually drive regularly between PL and DE. Drove off autobahns and you will see that many German villages are actually more desolated and depopulated than those on the Polish side of the border. Yes, Poland changed incredibly in the last decade or so. There's little to no difference between Poland and Germany in terms of how countryside looks.

I was in poland 2 weeks and you just see much more of the socialist rot and more poor people. Hell even in eastern germany there are still old rotten buildings even in areas where the federal government jackhammered billions of euros into rebuilding, so ofc in poland you have much more of that.
