Try 2011 BMW Z4 GT3's. They're only just now being phased out. Same with the 996 911 GT3's.

What an ancient bitch.

What happens to these cars once they're retired?

This old bag

They end up in amateur hands, on auction blocks, sometimes they get crushed (happened to a shit ton of Ferrari 250 GTOs after teams switched to 250 LMs)

...

Thank you manta

Kept in museums, sold to privates, converted to those "be a passenger on a real race car with a real driver on a real circuit" kind of programmes, destroyed for insurance scams, raced in obscure and/or free-for-all championships where everyone can race on old cars (kinda like what BOSS GP and many other series do).

Keep in mind race cars are the tools of a business (the team), so usually they find every way they can to milk more money out of them before retiring them for good.

its a 10 year old car

Watching them slide off in the snow this year was painful desu.

>happened to a shit ton of Ferrari 250 GTOs after teams switched to 250 LMs)

This never happened, what are you smoking?

>N24 and VLN races

It's not uncommon to find old cars running around there especially old German shitbox racecars from the '80s and '90s.

took way too long for someone to post based Manta

There is nothing old on a race car that is continuously updated. Accidents, upgrade packs and periodic refurbishing of most of the hardware means the car is always in top shape because parts are changed a lot.

You can argue the styling is old, but the car itself (unless in the hands of some privateer with no money) is not old at all.

If the car is still compliant with whatever regulation it was meant for (GT3, GTE, etc), then it is not really old, even if the first one was built 10 years ago.
This is valid for every race car, not just the gtr

If there is a 10 year old car still racing out there, the only thing that Is still original is probably just a small portion of the chassis, everything else has been changed multiple times at some point

The roadcar is.

That generation GT3 racecar is only about ~5 years old.

No shit Sherlock, we are talking about aesthetics, nobody expects 2016 cars to be running with the same engine and components as the one that was first launched

These stupid shits. The only reason these steel tube frame bastards are still competitive is because IMSA gives them huge BoP advantages.

The USSC basically is the ALMS. You're whining about nothing.

Also DP racers were out and out fast and cheap racecars and it's not like the LMP2-style weren't competitive against them either. The Ligiers have beaten the DP cars in 4 of the 10 rounds in 2016 which includes most of the NAEC races at D24, Sebring-12, and PLM. Even the Lola-Mazda cars showed some speed against the DP, but never won because they'd fuck it up somehow.

The old DP formula is gone now. They'll be replaced by the DPi cars next season which have more in common with the LMP2 class.

Still dominating AutoX despite the rules being weighed heavily against them. 350hp FDs dominating 500hp 911s and everything else.

This is why other races just don't allow Rotaries at all.

Which autoX events ban rotaries?

thank you manta

the ones that don't want oil & premix all over the course

I said other races, not autoX.

>Still dominating AutoX despite the rules being weighed heavily against them

What kind of AX rules impose against rotaries?

>13B has to have a 100lb weight penalty over 3.0L turbo OHC engines and and 300lb weight penalty over 4.0L NA LSx engines.

>20B is classed the same as 8.5L V8s

>You get to have a 200lb lighter car if you run a 5.0L LSx instead of a 20b or 26b

Waiting for the damage control.

Wait no that's 300lbs, not 200lbs. Holy shit, even worse.

Who's rules are these?

Why do people ask that?

You're on Veeky Forums, why aren't you a SCCA member already? Are you some poser?

You should see SM/SM2 and immediately realize it's probably SCCA, right?

Just goes to show that most people on this board don't know shit about cars and going fast.

>gm literally has NEVER won the most important endurance race in fucking history
GM's strong point is not durability or turning

>You're on Veeky Forums, why aren't you a SCCA member already?
scca is shit tier and not everyone is american. you dont need to be scca member to attend track days anyway...

enjoy driving around a parking lot at 30mph i guess though lol

Sleep tight Manta

>4.0L LS
wat

Whatever other pushrod V8s there are. I used that as an example and I assumed maybe there's some lower displacement mods for them, since it's a compact engine even if it was 4.0 or 5.0l, that would get the engine to work for certain displacement limits of various racing guidelines.
