>not even libc What would be the fucking point Every single worthwhile implementation of C has libc
Josiah Green
>tfw going over Hearthstone cards in search of good non-removal spells to steal
Michael Evans
Did someone say ASM?
Noah Myers
Y not MTG?
Ethan Taylor
this is why the game runs like charm, take notice engine devs!
Noah Wright
Because I made a very simple game so that the AI can deal with it.
Connor Gomez
I need someting that would let me easily put a graphical overlay onto a real-time simulation. What should I look into?
Dominic Lee
iirc I think Jonathan Blow was bitching about the compiler automatically including libc even if you don't want it because he just wants to use the platform api + intrinsics.
And now he's even developing his own language.
That man certainly has autism
Xavier Russell
I want to make a management style porn game in unity. Should I just have everything as "states"? So if (MAINMENU) call the mainmenu code, if (INGAME) use the game code, if(CUTSCENE) use the cutscene code. Is this a retarded way of doing this? Should I read a book?
Ian Nguyen
What games do elements the right way?
Carson Bennett
>take MTG >dumb it down Does it ring a bell?
Chase Hughes
>Should I read a book? Several, in fact. Reading books has been linked to better problem solving ability several times in human history.
Colton Taylor
Nah states are fine. Keep it simple in the beginning. You'll notice it when you need something more complex.
Asher Mitchell
The ones where there are five or more. Like Pokemon.
Evan Reed
that's what i'm talking about every time i redesign the project and overcome the obstacle that made my previous project impossible to finish due to design decisions, another obstacle comes in i mean, i'm learning from mistakes, but i still do plenty of them is it considered yesdeving or nodeving?
Jackson Lopez
Literally any game using something different than the usual ones you get in RPGs etc.
Ryder Allen
Okay. I think it will MOSTLY be an art project anyways. I've never coded anything bigger than a blackjack game.
Isaiah Mitchell
do a jam game, it forces you to cut corners and finish shit plus you still get practice
(DINO JAM)
Connor Peterson
>fire >wind >earth >water >holy >chaos
These are the correct ones.
Kevin Nguyen
Hell, I might just use this super character controller, it only took changing one line to get it working with my gravity thing.
Luke Jackson
but i dont care
Cameron Howard
my camera is centered, but the pace is slow enough with enough camera space that it works fine. if the game got faster then id need to work in a forward focused camera
Jose Parker
That looks pretty dang good.
Time to get your character moving between planetoids.
Michael Lopez
Earth is a retarded element
Jacob Kelly
What do you think?
Easton Smith
youre a retarded element
Landon Peterson
>holy >not light >wanting religious context
Joseph Brooks
Puzzle Quest has water, earth, fire and air, and these are done very well there
Oliver Brooks
Welp, this isn't nearly as fun as I thought it would be.
Juan Barnes
this, even SMT replaces it with wind
Devil Survivor was best >Wind >Elec >Fire >Ice >Curse >Phys it was an element enemies could be weak to or resist or even absorb >Holy typically weak moves but nothing can resist it >Truck >Autism
Ian Nelson
Made an electronic track for my top down shooter (posted prototype in last thread, gif is relevant).
Nothing crazy but the loop fits the purpose of keeping the energy up.
>dev a decent title >get a nice amount of money, at least enough to move house and live for a year, minimum, in a decent place >relax a couple months >find a job with other people >expand social circles from your personal ground zero
It COULD find you love, user.
At least, I'm fucking hoping it is for me. I'm in my prime years, and I work with middle-aged men on business software and have 0% chance of encountering females now all my uni friends have left the city, meaning I can't go out either.
At bare minimum, I'm saving to do the above without even releasing my game. Move closer to home, see some famiyl and some old friends.
Carter Bailey
...
Elijah Harris
isn't it usually refereed to as almighty, and not holy? Also you forgot the most important element: Gun.
Noah Smith
Share your Tumblrs and Twitters. I'm only following a few people but I'd like to follow more of you guys. Your dev one. Not your personal one.
Wyatt Green
>get a nice amount of money, it won't happen
i think thats why this general is so shit. rather than making games because it's a fun activity, you all just want money. then
>almighty I had a brain fart, it is indeed still almighty in DS and DS2 >Gun not in Devil Survivor, they took out a lot of the more redundant skills and elements
Strange Journey has the most important element though
Carson Gray
health packs are barely visible, they look like they're background elements
Jaxon Mitchell
This is the Hub world for Animal Nebula (3d platformer where you swap between animals). Each level entrance is found somewhere in here and locked away until you progress enough. There's an arcade, convenience store, and a day/night cycle and many other cool stuff
the dog can also bunynhop to increase speed to traverse larger areas
Luis Edwards
what part of clicking to move did you think was going to rock your world exactly?
Jonathan Gomez

Ian Brooks
thanks for feedback, i will change the color
Dylan Foster
>perfect girl >lesbian What a waste.
Owen Mitchell
>i think thats why this general is so shit. rather than making games because it's a fun activity, you all just want money Veeky Forums then
I actually just got to this board, I don't come here often - why do you see these two things as being mutually exclusive?
Daniel Wood
magic the gathering
Liam Howard
persona 5 brought back gun as an element and it's great, they also got rid of the dumb instakill spells that never work and just made light.dark actual attack elements again.
Jacob Cooper
Also, by "nice amount of money", if you read on into that post you'd see I meant actually a tiny amount. At $10 a copy, you could easily sell 2000 copies if your title's not shit and you have good enough word of mouth. That's $20k, enough to get you out of your house and renting somewhere new.
I dont like to share my tumblr anymore because everytime I post on twitter I get tons of replies and likes, but everytime I post on tumblr I get nothing.
Sometimes I think tumblr is for furry porn devs.
Ayden Edwards
i'll bash your head in user and before you say "thanks" you'll be long gone
Brayden Stewart
make the health more visible make the shells less visible and I hope its running at 60fps and its just the gif thats making it choppy
Evan Reed
>having 1/4th of enemy weaknesses be attached to expensive, entirely luck based skills is nice
Xavier Morales
I dunno, I thought it could be make for a fun control scheme but it doesn't feel satisfying, might as well just go with WASD.
she's also an artist and musician, while I like writing and am a programmer. We could've been the Dream Dev Couple... Fuck I wish was born a girl.
Noah Barnes
What the fuck are you talking about? If you are currently creating a game then you are yesdevving. If you are not currently creating a game then you are nodevving.
It doesn't matter how many mistakes you make. What matters is that you're making a video game.
Blake Brooks
requiring money creates stress to make your product appeal to a market rather than just making your product for the sake of making it
>That's $20k, enough to get you out of your house and renting somewhere new. moving out of home does NOT cost 20k and you could save that up in a conventional job much more easily. no one is going to buy your garbage unity tutorial walking simulator anyway
Ryder Morgan
>everytime I post on twitter I get tons of replies and likes >using meme tags that activate bots
Liam Fisher
oh hi boku. ill follow your twitter and tumblr. dont see the reason in not posting it. of course you wont get activity if you dont share it. thankfully i can just google it
already following. i love the look of your game.
Carson Scott
>Fuck I wish was born an anime girl. Fixed.
Cooper Ross
i'm going to hold your arms behind you and push my foot through your back so fucking hard that your ribs will explode through the front
what's the game? based on what you have, I assume it's an ARPG
John Sanchez
I don't know, user. I accept people as they are, but I still think that only a minority of gay/lesbian people are actually that, and for the great majority it's just a fetish got out of control or they have other mental problems. Like bad parenting from the opposite sex, bad first experiences with the opposite sex leads to the false conclusion that you might be into your own sex, misunderstanding good friendship with love etc.
So no hope is lost, but other than that, focus your energies and efforts and thoughts on things worth working for.
>requiring money creates stress to make your product appeal to a market rather than just making your product for the sake of making it
When did I say requires it? And I call horseshit, people make games for themselves all the time and they get a bit of cash from it. There's enough people out there that unless you make ABSOLUTE dog shit you're going to appeal to some sort of audience, just a matter of letting them know.
Jesus christ, you're taking my "game dev can lead to a better life" idea way too fucking seriously. Devving CAN lead to money. Money CAN lead to living somewhere better. Money CAN therefore lead to shit like friends and love. I never said it definitely happens, you tool.
Now I remember why I don't come to /v/ or Veeky Forums anymore.
Cameron Morales
What does agdg enjoy besides nodeving?
Nicholas Adams
i guess i will @herr_jak on twitter, herrjak on tumblr
Noah Garcia
masturbating
Eli Allen
Is gravity manipulation fun?
Brody Allen
>making a video game is at all a good way to make money or find love have you seen the average "indie developer"
weird pussy
Brayden Brooks
don't get it confused bitch i'll rip your toes off and gouge out your fucking eyes with them
Xavier Green
scarfdev.tumblr.com no twitter for now cus those are annoying to manage more than 1 of
Connor James
I've seen the average indie developer, yes.
That scene is just dying for a fucking non-meme spouting normie to come in and wreck house, because holy fuck indie developers are cancer.
Also it can be good for short term burst of cash, but I in no way ever said it was good for long term career. I said get enough to move and settle down for a few months, and in the mean time look for a real job.
