It's because I want to learn to ride a motorbike and enjoy it. I was making a 'motorbike=death' joke there. I like 80s technical design and was curious if anything out there resembled it these days as I have no idea about what the market looks like.

I was just curious to see what was on the market. I was planning on buying a very light, cheap motorbike to learn on (Honda C90 or something in that vein) but something with some 80s OVA aesthetics would be nice to lust over in the future. I've read the guides and I'm budgeting for a full set of safety gear first before even thinking of picking up a motorbike.

Do you mean like UJM's? Some classic Standard style bikes are still made and some more are coming back/modernized.
Dunno what country you're in or what your budget is. You can easily start off with just buying a helmet and jacket, use some boots/gloves you already have and get a bike. Then buy the rest if the gear after that and you'll have a better idea of what you want/need.

If you were sponsored rider by Ducati and want to ride the same bike personally for nostalgia reasons that would be pretty cool.

get a can of carb cleaner and some screwdrivers.remove carb cleaner-sensitive bits (slide Oring, etc.). remove jets. soak/spray carb cleaner and compressed air until you can see light through them. Nuke rest of carb with carb cleaner. In general, just take apart, inspect and replace as much shit as you can. From the looks of the outside of your carb, you have a nice project in front of you
