>Where does Veeky Forums play? Create or find a Gathering Hall Passcode: 7243 (rage) In Generations, Objective: Gathering In 4U, Target: Fishing In 3U, Help! A, Lobby 9
You're playing the PS4 version launching this week right people?
Josiah Mitchell
3rd for Kirin!
Oliver Howard
Tells in MH are far too long. You shouldn't be able to dodge an attack on reaction, only by already being out of its way when it begins. If you stand in the wrong spot, you fucked up and deserve to eat a hit.
Wyatt Murphy
Fuck off.
Ian Smith
What's with the early threads? You didn't even manage to link previous thread
Evan Lee
It's a game, and from now through whenever that is a core part of what this game is. Your way sounds more one dimensional.
Elijah Bennett
>far too long >a large amount of monster tells are short enough that you NEED to be positioned properly to avoid damage without evasion skills Shit like instant Rath charges are a grey area, though. Some argue that they technically do have tells in the form of the wyvern orienting themselves towards you. I personally think that's stupid, because then they could launch a fireball, or roar, or go airborne, or any number of other things, each with their own tells.
Chase Nelson
I remember way back it was a lot easier to tell between a Rathalos turning into a charge and a turning to launch a fireball or fly, a charge would be a faster overall turn to face a player.
I honestly don't mind it at all since in that case it's more about having an understanding of what the monster can do against what it will do and then making a choice of being safe or risking getting hit for more damage. I do mind making those quick charges hit like trucks though. Better to make them hit enough so that you'll be wary of them but not enough to do more than say 1/3rd of your health in a single blow so you can still risk it without death.
Ayden Green
What's truly bullshit is attacks with absurdly short tells that CAN'T be avoided by positioning.
>The hermitaur slowly walking over and slapping them out of the potion at 2:10 The more things change, the more they stay the same.
God damn Japanese devs, make the PS4 version work just fine but fuck up something in the PC.
Isaiah Hughes
I wish I could put up with Frontier's autistic grind but it's just too much.
William Evans
Regarding the movie, people over /v/ are having some weird ideas about the plot
>MC has to pick a weapon, chooses hunting horn >Does the running anymations straight from the game >Everyone flexes after eating, it's never explained why. >Emotional death scene gets interrupted by Felynes carting the fallen >Movie ends with the MC bragging about a good kill for a solid minute, then as he's gonna start carving theframe freezes and QUEST COMPLETED appears >Credits roll over a static shot of the last hit.
Landon Perez
Wish I could put up with Deviants autistic grind but it's just too much as well.
Aaron Davis
>30 monsters for an armor set >vs 2000 monsters for a set of decorations
Brandon Reyes
>Still being anal about Tech skills You don't let go once you've bit huh?
Another new BGM. This one is the guild battle diva thingy.
Jacob Bennett
They're just as optional as deviant grind. And Hiden isn't even the worst grind in Frontier.
Carter Jackson
Yeah, deviants didn't stop me from enjoying Gen so I agree there.
Just as Hiden doesn't stop me from enjoying Frontier.
Jaxson Martinez
The difference is that in Frontier EVERYTHING is grindy as hell.
Matthew Wright
...
Noah Campbell
That's the appeal of Frontier, casual shitter.
Daniel Butler
Well the appeal I see is being able to play a Monster Hunter without having to start from the beginning every other year or so and also have a decent amount of challenge.
But that's just me.
Evan Morris
i love it how the definition of the frontier buzzword changes with every new mainline title >no frontier means flashy >mainline gets flashy >no frontier means shit monster designs >mainline gets shit monster designs >no frontier means CUHRAZY anime and aoe! >mainline returns to its anime roots and gets aoe moves >no frontier is grindiness! >people forget about charms and also relic farming from 4/4U
Isaiah Gonzalez
Frontier is still stuck in Gen 2's engine
Jeremiah Brooks
>No mounting >No monster fatigue >And still all the quality of life upgrades from 3rd and 4th gen plus many more
Sounds great.
Blake Nelson
>implying mounting and monster fatigue are bad
Samuel James
Monster fatigue is. No need to make the fight easier just because it went on for too long. Make it a specific status you have to work for or something. Plus monsters tend to zone in retarded ways to go to the feeding ground.
Mounting isn't terrible in Generations, but 4U spamming was awful.
Benjamin Richardson
...
Owen Cooper
You could get a full set of perfect relics of every element in 4U in the time it'd take you to get a single Raviente weapon in Frontier.
Easton Rivera
>clunky controls >moonwalking monsters >shitboxes
David Turner
Still a chance on those relics, so you also have the chance to not get a single one.
Meanwhile the Ravi weapon is going to happen in that amount of time no matter what.
Samuel Howard
A RATH TO SURPASS DREADKING
Logan Hughes
And in that amount of time you're hunting a variety of monsters and also getting charms and relic armor Rather than farming a single gimmicky MMO boss over and over
Angel Green
>another rath Frontiercucks will defend this
Parker Wright
...
Tyler Anderson
Rajang is not a variety of monsters. But your point stands.
Ravi is fun in spurts but more than 2 or 3 in a row is just dull.
Oliver Reyes
>implying that wouldn't be amazing
Bentley Perry
Nobody is forcing you to only hunt Rajang. And unless you want ugly as sin skins even if there's a Rajang in every quest for optimal returns it's not going to be 2x Rajang. Ravi weapons can't be gotten from anything but Ravi.
Ethan Nelson
Perfect relics aren't going to be found from everything though. So you are stuck to a small group to go over and over for the chance
Ravi weapons are super ass, no arguing that. Maybe they'll revisit it and cut away the mass grind like they did to a lot of the other parts of the game.
Logan James
Ravi is the absolute endgame, they're not going to cut down on that.
Isaiah Turner
They've already upped the number of tickets you get from the priority monster for Hiden, I could see them making the normal and Violent Ravi portions of the grind easier.
Daniel Torres
>They've already upped the number of tickets you get from the priority monster for Hiden When did that happen?
Jacob Green
A month or two ago I think. Not much admittedly, just instead of 3 or 5 it's now 4 or 6.
Small but it is a change none the less.
John Baker
So now it's just around 1600 hunts for Hiden? Still not something I could see myself suffering through.
Blake Powell
...
Leo Hernandez
What the fuck? Charlotte was online yesterday but not today? Isn't he supposed to only play on week-ends? I need to ask him some stuff about 4U!
When has a bad movie adaption of vidya killed a franchise?
Carson Adams
...
Ian Powell
MH Online, kiddo.
Daniel James
Is MHO based on 2nd gen gameplay as well? I want to try it but I don't want to deal with anything that's older than MH3.
Isaiah Ortiz
Nah. They'll pick some charisma vacuum manlet from Game of Thrones or another cable drama. Maybe Paul Wes Thomas Anderson will just get Kit Harrington again, because he was in Pompeii.
It's a combination of 4U and Frontier. The engine is completely different and monster animations and AI are entirely new. There are also unique features like fire being able to spread across the ground, or being able to ignite flammable substances by using bombs or fire damage.
Samuel Bailey
Nobody asked for it but the hollywood elites
Juan Wilson
You can also douse fire with water bombs, but only on the airship missions.
Jaxon Jackson
And Tencent
Hudson Martin
>no previous thread
Samuel Cook
Despite all the shit they're doing and probably influencing, it's funny how there isn't really all that much discussion about Tencent
Oliver Moore
Capcom wants to get the west into MH so they can milk that audience as well Shit is only going to get worse from here
Chase Allen
I'm new to the series. Should I just start with Generations?
Jordan James
Because Tencent has no part in the movie, at least officially. But since the director expressed interest of the MH movie going to China, I doubt there will be any other party except Tencent being involved, if any from China.
Gen is full of a lot of nostalgia bait, and surprisingly inaccessible for a new player Start with 3U or 4U
Jason Morris
Shit OP for a shit general.
Brandon Watson
I view MH going to 3DS as the worst it could ever be back then.
Jackson Gutierrez
the old thread didn't even hit the bump limit as well >welcome redditors! kinda ironic isn't it
Liam Edwards
Wake up /mhg/!
Michael Carter
Sales disagree with you.
Daniel Reyes
But I'm going to bed
Brandon Torres
...Alright
Angel Edwards
well there is p3rd, the best selling psp game in existence but I have a hunch that the guy is just trying to fit in
really the way to go is cross-platform play, everyone is happy and you maximize your market
Ian Hall
It's not about sales. Even if it was about sales, moving away from PSP after the phenomenon MHP3rd was really the stupidest idea.
MHP3rd was also the best selling MH game by a longshot
Jackson Harris
>playing P3rd >finished village and just gor HR3 >somehow have 3 carabalite Wait, where the hell did they come from? From the LR farm somehow?
Caleb Campbell
What a cute zinhuntress
Owen Hall
>It's not about sales >companies are not about making money
>Even if it was about sales, moving away from PSP after the phenomenon MHP3rd was really the stupidest idea. Not really, considering the 3 titles in the 3DS sold really well and didn't have draconian business decisions taken by Sony messing with development.
Evan Thompson
That's why they're moving to PS4 now and with the movie, for sales.
