Are Fiats really that unreliable or is it just a meme?

Are Fiats really that unreliable or is it just a meme?

Pic related, thinking of picking up a Punto Evo as my first car

All modern cars are reliable, this isn't 1982

I have a New Palio. 40k Kms and no problems whatsoever. Pretty good considering I don't care for it at all.

>Diesel Fiat

>fiat
>unreliable
The panda is a fucking tank.

a meme
neighbors drive two Fiat, no problems. we have two fiat, no problems. going strong at 170k km no rust except for the muffler but I replaced that anyways.
have fiat at work, no problem.

From my experience no,my mom strictly drives fiat puntos, she does almost zero maintenance and all her cars are well over 200k miles. She never had a major problem.

You DO know what FIAT stands for, right?

>Fix. It. Again. Tomorrow.

friend has punto evo
constant check engine light and random idling at 2000rpm, dealer tells her to fuck off because they don't want to dismantle whole engine. She misses her mk1 Astra.

that's FORD, Dale.

whats the difference. Theyre both shit

FIAT are always unreliable when they are designed by FIAT.

FIAT are reliable when they have a Peugeot or Citroen badge.

And Peugeots are unreliable when they have a FIAT badge.

Even when its a Peugeot with a Ford engine, and the only thing FIAT is the badge, they are unreliable.

So the problem is clearly the badge.

FIAT a shit

SHIT

>what is Sevel
>Peugeot with a Ford engine or a Ford with a Peugeot engine or a Peugeot/Citroen?Ford?Volvo etc. with Joint venture PSA-FoMoCo engine

If you have to choose between fiat or volks, go for the fake german.

no, they are that unreliable.

if you live in italy
>fiat is a valid choice

if you live in greater europe
>fiat is a marginal choice but if it's cheap... okay

anywhere else
>fuck no tony

They're designed to last about 150km and then be thrown away. There are much, much better euroboxes to be had that won't fuck you in the arse with constant problems.

I think the problem with fiats is people expect them to be more than they are.
They're not unreliable but you're not supposed to slam it around everywhere just because it's cheap.
It's a very American thing to drive like a retard just because you can't see a cop.

>fiat

Bullshit.

Brazilian-made FIATs, against all odds, are rock solid and endure the abuse on shitty third-world streets. If something does go wrong, spares are cheap and the cars are simple to fix.

Better than that Chebby Aveo/Spark or Renaults Sandero by a country mile.

Remember the Iveco LDV that had the same running gear as a Transit?

Somehow the 2.5 DI Bananer that could last for 500k city miles in a Transit was considered a shit engine and unreliable when under the bonnet of a FIAT brand Iveco.

FIX
IT
AGAIN
TONY

>n-no these unreliable, poorly built piles of shit are good, it's just murirkans

>Renault Sandero

I'm sorry third world cuck but that shit ain't a Renault.

>Nissan
>Jeep/Dodge
>Land Rover
>Ford

All worse than Fiat.

>DIESEL
>FIAT
>PUNTO

The only reliable European vehicle is Mercedes-Benz. And even then they're not worth the money required to repair them. Europeans cant design reliable, durable vehicles no matter how much they try to pass the blame

...

>Tfw not driving american car
dodged a bullet there

There is actualy a peugeot/citroen/toyota car, the only realy shitty thing about it is the exaust wich is the only thing capable of rusting on it.

Get an abarth then

Or pic related. The godmachine

...

>be me
>drive with my friends fiat
>open the bonnet to charge battery at winter
>slip bonnet when closing and it slams down
>give friend back his fiat
>go home to my toyota
>notice something on garage floor
>its fiats badge
>throw it in my glovebox to return to friend
>go to work next day
>smell of gasoline in garage
>turns out my fueltank is leaking because I left the badge in the car

FUCKING FIATS

It's not just a meme. Fiat's also were #1 in depreciation in a recent study.

Neat cars, but buy them used for a song then set aside a couple grand to keep them running.

I have the punto 1.4 Turbo multiair

It's completely stock and I recently dynoed it at the local fiat/alfa specialist and it was producing 99kW at the wheels

Uses on average 11l per 100km and i've driven 96000km with it without any problems whatsoever, my wife has the 900cc turbo fiat 500 and it has also proven to be quite cheap and reliable

...

It is a Renault the same way SEAT and Skoda are VW.

Great for buying used then
