it's power output is on a 1.8 miata level and nobody would call these fast

If you're in western yuroland, it's not too hard nor too expensive to get an old british roadster, an italian or french convertible, so it's not unatainable. That or a Morgan if you are a richfag and don't want to bother with restauration and classic maintenance.
As for goggles and the like, just check any antique sale, you'll find at least one guy with old military gear that can cover that for you.
