because then you wouldn't buy parts and/or more cars. It's a business.

...

They do have a 100% profitable system though.

nice tinfoil you have there

Yep, good 'ol capitalism at its finest.

>yfw we do
>mfw you don't like it because "reliability is boring"

Isn't that what a corolla or versa is?

who hates the corolla?

Who likes the Corolla?

This in the least reliable generation ever. The second gens where definitely made out steel.

Most profit made by service, not the car sales

You must be kidding me...what about the monthly car payment? You need to rethink your logic.

Anybody that wants a reliable car.

I can't fathom how you think loans work, but that money isn't going to the manufacturer.

Cars are moving machinery in general are inherently unreliable. Your engine relirs on fucking precisely timed explosions inside of it to run reliably, but not only that it must also maintain a relatively precise operating temerasure and amount of fuel so that these explosions don't put a hole in your engine. And to top it all off you have shafts, bearings, and spinner things that all rotate at the speed of fucking light and have nothing to keep them working but a bit of oil.

I'm talking about general cost. Most parts are made by third party parts manufacturers. If you take your car to the dealership for repairs YOU are a madman.

Look up any financial figures for a dealership. They make more money on service than anything else.
>the guy who thinks a Hyundai is a good car believes car payments make dealerships money
Makes perfect sense.

Also...do you think Walmart makes ANYTHING they sell?
>how can you make money if you don't manufacture it
Golly gee

capitalism is horrible

I wish it had AWD, that or they could bring back the Celica AllTrac would be noice.

There's basically two actors to blame: the consumers and the government.
Anyone saying
>muh manufacturers
and
>muh capitalism
is dead wrong.

Making an enjin out of synthetic diamonds or some shit would be pretty darn costly

planned obsolescence

thank cappies for that

>reliable
>affordable
>fun

Pick 2

Any new car will be reliable as shit. You can lease a brand new car for $40 a week, you probably spend more than that on Taco Bell a week. Give it back at the end of the 4 year lease and you'll never have to worry about maintenance or reliability issues.

because cars are exceedingly complex machines and they now have to meet very strict safety and emissions standards as well as keep up with consumers who want luxuries and electronic assistance. reliability is expensive and also never permanent, nothing is infinitely reliable.

You're stupid.
Parts are designed with a life cycle in mind.
And that lifecycle isn't "as long as possible" that life cycle is "as long as reasonable, with the cheapest production costs"

why choose 2 when I can choose "motorcycle" and get all 3

Just buy a nu-WRX

fun is a buzzword

it means nothing

>organ donor
>dress like a power ranger every time you need to get the groceries.
pick two

>beinga fatso that has trouble getting in leather

lol

I see no downsides

If you're riding on the road casually and get in full gear you're a fucking kike.
You're worse than the fat 40 year old men who get the full bike gear for their road bike and pedal all around in the middle of the road with their guts hanging out.
Wear your gear if you're hooning. Other fuck off with your faggot shit. Not wearing full gear doesn't make you a squid, squid is a lifestyle comparable to being a gear fag.

damn, you swallowed /pol/'s bluepill didn't you boy?

Because 100% reliability is less important to new car buyers/regulatory bodies than good fuel economy, good emissions, good crash safety, and new features.

Lots of guys hop on their bike to go pick up something from the store 5 minutes away and come back with missing limbs. Full gear may make you look like a faggot skin grafts made from baby foreskin is a lot gayer.

You'll never be able to have 100% reliability, it's impossible in something that moves, there is always going to be wear.

this desu my first crash was a lowside into the parking lot of my neighborhood grocery store

>How come we can't make a 100% reliable car that's affordable?

OP did not define what "100% reliable" means. He also didn't define what "affordable" means. So the question might as well be "Why do people have to work to make money when all the government needs to do is just print money and give everyone $1000 every day to spend for the rest of their lives?"

If OP continues to refuse to define his criteria, then the question cannot be answered as there are too many other interpretations out there causing contradictory answers.

Lots of guys hop in their cars to go pick up some dildos from the walgreens 5 minutes away and come back dead. Buying everything off Amazon may make you look like a neck beard, funerals payed for by mommy and daddy are cringier.

You have a skewed sense of risk, an almost European lefty sense of risk.
Do you also have flares, high vis vests for each seat and cones in your cars?

Just act normal.
If you're a fully functioning competent male, the chances are so slim in most areas of the west that it's borderline a mental disorder to be such a ninny.

More like not overbuilding. To expand on what I posted in , the ones to blame are lease queens.

You're the reason we can't have reliable cars anymore.

>they now have to meet very strict safety and emissions standards
This is what I was talking about when I said "thank the gov" in

We live in a disposable world, deal with it. Let me guess, you use an old ass flip phone too?

Flip phones and physical keyboards were great as fuck.
Enjoy being a gen z shit skin.

A lot of it has to do with safety regulations demanded/valued by the consumer, and anything not safety related is likely due to emissions or efficiency regulations required by the governments who license said vehicles.

"its not capitalism, its crony capitalism" retarded lolberg detected

failing rate of profit, feel free to read about it

falling*

agreed on physical keyboards
I know, I'm just pointing out that you can't expect durable goods when everyone is out for disposables.
I'm not a lolberg, in fact I spouse a pretty hardcore version of statism. But hey, I can tell the whole emissions bullshit is a scam. Stuff like EGR has hit reliability pretty hard.

Nissan fangirl detected
stay mad

I don't actually like Nissan kiddo, stay mad u got meme'd on

>no argument
As expected.

...

Stay btfo nissan fangirl
>nissan has never won lemans
literally can't make this shit up

How does one come back dead?

>nissan has neve ever won lemans

top kek! can't make that shit up

Better question, why are engines still unreliable? Surely after a century of making car engines, companies would have figured out the winning combination? How many variables in engine design and implementation can possibly still be unknown or uncontrolled?

On that note, what are the most reliable modern(ish) engines?

You think modern engines are unreliable? I can tell you've never had to fuck with a carb on a old engine. Even a modern shitbox like a Kia or Hyundai will start every time you turn the key.

Not unreliable relative to older engines, but unreliable compared to other modern engines. You only need to look at warranty statistics to see a spectrum of reliability appear. How is it that companies don't constantly produce engines with stellar reliability?

This. In comparison they're a lot more reliable that they were before. It's like people complaining about capitalism and poverty. 400 years ago most of the populace was really poor. Now the average person is much richer in comparison.
Sometimes reliability isn't prioritized. Cheap and high performing usually means unreliable, for example.

How is it that companies don't constantly produce engines with stellar reliability?

because they'd cost way too much to produce plus they'd loose out on the services and the chance to sell you a newer model every 5 years. Buy a heavy duty diesel truck or a Semi truck if you want something to last and be reliable. Don't complain about the $100-200k pricetag.

>because they'd cost way too much to produce plus they'd loose out on the services and the chance to sell you a newer model every 5 years. Buy a heavy duty diesel truck or a Semi truck if you want something to last and be reliable. Don't complain about the $100-200k pricetag.
Not only that, people now mostly lease instead of buying as I explained earlier in the post. So an overbuilt car (like a modern day W124) wouldn't be competitive enough and wouldn't sell well. Consumers brought disposable cars on themselves with their leasing habit.

You're trolling, right?
Dunno, if you know, but you're not alone on the road.
So what if I go for a 5 min drive to the shop and I'll go whole way 20kmph, when some retarded kid in riced Civic will tbone my back wheel on the junction and I'll get sent flying, smashing my joints on the asphalt, not even thinking about how much skin would I leave on the ground.
Crutches and scars because I didn't want to wear comfy gear in fear that some user on chinese bus passenger forum will call me a faggot.

ALL GEAR ALL THE TIME ALL GEAR ALL THE TIME ALL GEAR ALL THE TIME
I also check my tire pressures every morning.

>What is planned obsolescence
>What is cost cutting and offshore manufacturing
Hell they are deliberately making their cars unreliable and could brick them at a moments notice espeicially these days

If elon musnk wanted to kill all the teslas he probably only has to flick a switch

Probably signed a deal with the NSA to track your location and record cabin audio too.

This guys gets it

Are you literally retarded?

I'll take '1990s' for $500

All of this shit and yet large truck engines, on WOT for minutes at a time constantly, will run for more than 2 million miles with only regular servicing

>socialism never been tried
>statist
Step it up sempai.

Thats a shit trifecta.
Almost any car from the 90s will net all 3 of those.
This is what you meant to post
>fast
>reliable
>cheap
pick 2 and only 2

I'm gonna feed your organs to my pet rock

we do have reliable & affordable cars.

they're just boring as fuck though, & any enthusiast with half a brain will sacrifice reliability for performance, or buy a more expensive car that performs well & is reliable.

Car manufacturers are in the business of making MONEYYYYYY

Thanks dude, it's heartwarming to know others are aware of what the problem is too.

OP this is (((((YOU)))))

Im not a sociaist, I'm a post-left anarchist, stupid furfaggot, yiff in hell

>left
>anarchist
kek
>Step it up sempai.
My particular ideology doesn't matter.

>left anarchist
>government is a coersive organization, so we have to create a society where we organize together to coerse people out of their property

>My particular ideology doesn't matter.
Fair enough. You sound reasonable user.
Cheers.

I'm a post-post left post-anarchist. You're a reactionary.

>retards don't know what post-left anarchism means

wew lads, you are literal illiterates

here, let me help you a little bit lmgtfy.com/?q=what is post-left anarchism

You are disgusting furfaggot trash, kill yourself

>ad hominem

I am not offending you for being a disgusting furfag in order to win an argument, I am offending you for being a disgusting furfag because I want to call you a disgusting furfag, human trash, genetic garbage and so on

its not an ad hom

>furfag

And as a post-post left post-anarchist I say that you're a reactionary because you're not as progressive as me. On every level except physical, I am a wolf, and you cannot prove me wrong. You have no authority over me.

I don't care about your special snowflake identity, scalie or whatever,
